The thing is that like Batman, his sidekicks have lost dept. Part of it is the trendy nature of stories, just looking for something random and new to force into the mythos. The main robins stories are woven into Bruce's stories. The new ones are just crowbarred in and given slight spins to try to stand out. Some might hit but none of them have great staying power and it shows.
Damien needs his up grade tho they should've aged him with Jon the super sons were so good if they stayed together it could've been cute maybe damien could get a magic or cursed sword like katana
@@all9472 One of the worst things done to both of them there was no pressing need to have another grown superboy and Damian lost a major anchor to his emotional growth both Damian and Jon should be aged at the same rate to be a bat and a super maybe grab a young amazon and they're doing shenanigans of the usual young heroes wanting to go and fight crime even when their mentors say no.
Yeah, like Tim and Dick were the emotional support Robins. :) Batman was a much draker/violent character before the introduction of the first Robin, and Dick decided that he wanted to counterbalance Batman's darkness with light. In Tim's case Batman was nearly suicidal, and very agressive because of Jason's death. Funny enough, Batman/Bruce was the best parent to Jason, and Damian.
So true. I just don't like when they try to shoehorn random people into the Batfam. They are not members of the BAtfam, they just worked with Batman on various occasions. I think no one has any business being a batfam member beside the original Robins (Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian) + Barbara, and Cassandra, and Alfred. I don't think Batwoman should be counted, because she has very little contact with Bruce/Batman.
@@pepita2437she should tbh that’s his blood cousin but dc comics need to cement that relationship between them in a none superhero way. Have them celebrate the Jewish holiday together and have Superman (was Amish in some universe) protect Gotham with nightwing as his robin would be kinda cool
@@jakobyhubbard5530 Hardly any of these meet the requirements of a sidekick. For one, sidekicks are basically protégés to a particular superhero. Clayface and Batwing (among others) did not study under Bruce at all. They are not sidekicks.
@@donovanlarsen7982 i agree on some of these and yeah I wouldn’t consider clayface a sidekick and I mean I like clayface as a villain. But signal, Onyx and batwing and maybe more are definitely sidekicks just cause they operate under him
Honestly, just a fan of Harper Row/Bluebird. And it’s always a bit of a shame for someone that’s currently active to usually be left off the Bat-Family art.
Fans: "We want more Batman!!" DC: "Then you're gonna love the new side stories, sub plots, branched out series, main lines and spinoffs of all the new sidekicks we came up with!! We plan on doing 200 issues each!!!!" Fans: ".....That's okay. You can keep it. Why do writers always have to ruin the fun?"
Duke Thomas should be the sidekick to Black Lightning, Mr Terrific, or if we're going really out there Amazing Man. Maybe give those guys some more love.
Totally unrelated but I listen to videos at work. I think this only the second one of yours I’ve come across, didn’t see your face until just now and had to double check when I did because you got the Tom Brady look
Why is Bruce Wayne even called Batman? He's not even a real bat. Dr. Michael Morbius should be Batman because he's actually like a bat, and his sidekick would be Milo
@@DragonMasterDM Yeah but.. couldn't that be literally anyone? Like even Nightwing does it sometimes. And Night is right there in his name! I'm thinking he'd need his own niche both in story and abilities. Like his powers could be expanded to do more than basic detective work like Batman and Tim Drake do. Maybe he can interact with his visions of the past to change the present. And story wise they could do more with his parents being Jokerized, like maybe they're *still alive*™ and they become his own personal Jokers who want to Jokerize him or something.
I care about him. I even wrote a few stories of my own to show his potential. Not only his powers but carrying on his mission through racism and hatred. In one of my stories I talk about his parents getting shot during an election for mayor and it was done by Hank Boles (Son of Frank Boles from Arkham Asylum game only son's a white supremacist and he gets away with it because he uses his father's connections in the GCPD to elude justice.) Dick is Batman and tries to find the murderer but hasn't found him. Duke's parents be in a coma but to Duke, they're already dead and his trauma ignites his metahuman powers. Still as Duke begins to doubt himself, someone had approach Duke Thomas and it wasn't Batman because Batman was already gone thanks to Failsafe. Instead it was Jason Todd as Red Hood. Duke wants to know why Jason is interested in him. Jason states that he recognizes Duke's pain and his desire for justice. Jason lost his parents and wanted the system to deliver justice to the man who murdered them. However as he found out growing up the GCPD failed him because they're corrupt and the system was broken then to now. Even though Commissioner Gordon and Batman (with Bat Family. Barbara Gordon-Oracle, Cassandra-Batgirl, Tim Drake-Robin and Luke Fox-Batwing) have worked hard to find those moles, but they keep slipping away. Jason shows how the murderer got away with the help of corrupt cops. This enrages Duke sparking out his metahuman powers. Duke wants Jason to help him find the murderer. Jason agrees but Duke has to prove to Jason of his worth. Duke agrees. Jason tests Duke to see if he has the guts to stand back up every time he's down. Gives him several training exercises to see what he can do, solve several crime cases and test his metahuman powers. Obviously this would take time and dedication but Duke earns his worth, and has to face the harsh reality of racism and hatred towards him but he overcomes them as he grows into a hero. Made his own suit, doesn't call himself Signal yet because he's still working on finding a name. Jason does slowly try Batman's ways in Gotham only with Duke to present an example of restraint. It would be difficult but he only kills if it was necessary and he was alone. Still his mission involves a suspicion on how the bad guys avoid justice and corruption still stands in Gotham. Jason theorizes that there's a someone was working for the villains and corrupting several law enforcers from cops to judges of Gotham. Has his sights on the new mayor Elliot Caldwell and believes that he was truly the one responsible for his crimes on Duke's parents. However, a new villain by the name of Wrath comes in to distract Jason but Jason wasn't changing his mind. Even Duke would see it too and goes to assist Jason when he needs it. It would take a while but in the end, Elliot was revealed to be the man who placed a hit on Duke's parents and breaking the system from within. Elliot retaliates by declaring war on Gotham as the Arkham Knight (calls himself that because his parents were murdered in Arkham Asylum by the GCPD during Gordon's first shift as a detective.) uses his own war machines to attack Gotham. Wrath is Elliot's son David Caldwell. Hank Boles is the Electrocutioner and hires a few killers to join. Bloodsport, Ravager (Grant Wilson), Tarantula, and Killer Moth. Along with the court of owls joins in siding the Arkham Knight. They send Raptor, Saiko, Strix, and Xiao Loong as they have captured Jason Todd. This required Jim and his GCPD, with Batman (Dick Grayson) Catwoman, Huntress, and the bat family to get involved. But they wouldn't be alone. Duke called in reinforcements like GhostMaker, Azrael, Batwoman (Kathy Kane), Black Canary, Tiffany (Sparrow), Stephanie Brown (Spoiler), Clayface, Cullen and Harper Row (Dark Ranger and Bluebird). It would end in the heroes favor as Duke frees Jason. Defeated the Talons, but they got away with Owlman's help. The villains, corrupt cops/judges, and Duke was close to kill Elliot but he chose justice and delivered him to Aaron Cash. Duke meets with the Bat family, Red Hood, and the other heroes on the Bat signal. They agreed to work together as Gotham Knights and Duke finally has made a name for himself, the Signal. Also to include in the ending, Ghostmaker believes that Bruce Wayne isn't dead only teleported and he could bring him back with Duke's metahumans powers. Just as Duke Thomas's biological father Gnomon arrives in Gotham and brings Punchline to meet Duke's parents as they awoke from their comas, only to be struck with Joker Toxin. There would be more into this but I believe this would be enough to show how I would do Duke Thomas and the rest I'll let you imagine how it would go down.
ive always been a bit torn on the signal as a concept for a character, because on the one hand i like his story and his powers, but on the other hand... i dont think a amember of the bat family should have powers? it just feels like it goes against the whole vibe of them as a whole
You know honestly seeing this shit I have to like actually wonder does Bruce purposely only train the new generation bc he wants them to continue the mission and thinks if they start later there useless bc it’s odd how he ain’t got a sidekick his own age lmfao
I love red hood (jason todd) cuase I think its one of the best ways comics have shown not only that not everybody has a happy ending but also that good and bad are blurry. There are lots of great examples of this but still oh and I think it also made dick cooler. funny enough I actually dislike jason todd as robin though lol
ok the only ones batman needs is Dick Grayson he is the first robin and now his own man rightwing he has surpassed batman in every way. Jason Todd Batman's biggest failure and honestly a fascinating character, red hood. Tim drake the third Robin and a better detective than batman he choose the superhero life Red Robin. and Damien drake the assassin the bio son and originally Dick Graysons robin. Damien brings an interesting twist to the batman mythos. Now Barbra gordon is her own thing and she was a far better oracle than she was batgirl. and that should be it end of story. that should be the batfamily adding Alfred of course all others are unnecessary.
need some outworld story where nightwing is the protector of bludhaven and after escaping from batman, redhood envades it and tries to take it as his own. Him as a villain goes soo hard. The greatest success vs the greatest failure, blue vs red, compassion vs rage, agility vs strength, the successor of batman who moved on and evolved into nightwing vs the successor of the joker who couldn't let go and devolved into the redhood. They would be the second generation of how a bad day could make or break someone and it would be a battle of ideals. Am i cooking?
