1:07:13 Mark hands the microphone to me! I bottle it and quickly give it to someone else😂 I don’t know what he’s singing half of the time and I didn’t feel confident enough to sing anything! A moment I’ll never forget nonetheless. A great gig! I miss him and The Fall! RIP Mark.
Also, I'd like to add that I think Mr. Smith has been evolving vocally for years and I think it's extremely interesting. He's developing into strange new places. It's raw stuff. His album with Von Sudenfed was proof that he's still one of the most idiosyncratic and original vocalists of our time, in my humble opinion.
Each individual has ever been a part of "the Fall" is a part of the total art work "The Fall". If hot, for me there is no fav. Line-up since ´76-´77. And quite honestly, we must be grateful that there such a thing as "the Fall" still exist. For me now 38 years ! and I hope for another 38 years :) thank you for the fall live stuff.
Can you imagine someone unfamiliar with Mark E Smith going to the show, not knowing what to expect, and seeing THAT walk out and start bellowing into the mike? hahaha!
I took 4 friends to see them in Sheffield. 3 were like WTF!! and the 4th was totally mezmerised we went on to see them a further 3 times. Each one as good as the first. We also met a bunch of people who'd traveled from Southampton, Awesome night!
I saw them during the changeover from the American band to the last one so with 2 bands it was really powerful. A couple of months later I took my sister and they were pretty ordinary and I don't think she saw the magic. It was in Leeds and Paddy from Emmerdale was keeping quiet in the back.

It's a Fall gig. What else do you expect or would you want? They can still make a room jump and if you don't like them, don't watch. They remain as they mostly have been and that suits us who pay to watch them.
Well said, Key. Not only bands but even people like the enigmatic Mr. Smith evolve, change even. I am simply thankful that The Fall continues to exist in any particular iteration that suits them and that I am alive enough to appreciate their exquisite cacophony.

John peel may have loved ' The Fall', however, I can't help but feel that if this version of Mark's ' The Fall ' ( and this 'version' of Mark) had walked into his session's they would not have had a second one. By this point his musicians where the only thing vaguely keeping it together - and they continued to thin. And Mark continued to become even more inaudible Maybe it was his affliction or drink or both, but , apart from being 'Mark E Smith from the Fall' was just a guy (quiet obviously fucked) shouting randomly into different microphones. those that he didn't break of course. Now he is gone sentiment may let us overlook all this. This gig is actually o.k - but venture past 2014 on here and it becomes quiet sad. I love his individualism and the fact he doesn't give a fuck - but the reality is Mark E Smith disappeared around 2007.
Impossible to understand. Impossible to ignore. I have followed the fall since '83 and to watch his slow decline from moderate incoherence to full incoherence is a shame. the band are tight as ever, but MES is looser than ever. I blame Brix. However, this is surprisingly better than his last couple of outings. Roll on the 27th November at The Garage. Only £6 a ticket.
The Fall has been a stable line up of musicians for a few years, which is sort of worrying as a regular turnover of guitar twangers and drum whackers has been a feature of the band that is always different but always the same, not stale as yet, but its on the cusp of sameness, which is nearly mediocracy
Genuine question here; Apart from being unable to see/hear any good reason for a second drummer what made this a particularly bad Fall gig? Was Smith particularly incoherent on this occasion?
Superfluous percussionist indeed it is embarrassing, very perceptive. The same with Mr.Hart in the Grateful Dead. Why? Maybe three drummers would balance things out a bit. (Irony). Great film can we buy Mr.Mission an HD camera?
