Peter Raps I guess it was borderline commercialism by The Fall standards. I love the album This Nations Saving Grace, just an opinion but I thought it was their best.
God bless the late and great Mark E Smith remember first time I saw them on tv OGWT doing Lay of the land Blew me away as late and great John Peel would say always different always the same .... First saw them @ Reading Festival 1990 legendary gig have seen them many times over the years ... Fav LP Frenz experiment pure perfection gone but not forgotten 👃➕ .....
Yes, I specifically remember this video being played regularly on MTV Europe in the late 80's/early 90's. Definitely too early for me to get this type of music, but I remember being somewhat intrigued by the video and the fact that there was no real singing.
'Been a few years since MES passed; but I feel an incredible loss; remaining members of the fall must feel out in the wind, he was the ultimate front man, impossible to replace!
Ridiculously amazing.Forget the rose tinted glasses retrospective drivel. On so many levels this is ahead of it's time and pretty much fucking timeless.End of the fucking story.Insanely brilliant.Genius.Under rated on a Hiroshima scale.
A lyric from L.A. can be found in Russ Meyer'sfilm Beyond the Valley of the Dolls: "This is my happening, and it freaks me out." This is spoken by the crazed theater guy when he greets a bunch of people at his house party. And dig this: the track Vixen, also a nod to Meyer, with his film by the same title Vixen.
Thanks man, there's obviously something I missed, but whatever. The Fall rocks, and we should be supportive of that fact, not attack each other for personal reasons...
Ooh-whee, what do I see? The Fall with a vid on MTV! What a sight! They're dynamite! They're what I dream about at night. Brix looks so pretty in her home city where the white noise rushes through the uncanny bushes.
I'm a Fall fan of many years, and this is one of my favorite Fall songs, but I didn't know this video existed. Thank [insert preferred deity, cosmic force, or nihilistic stance] for RU-vid. What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman--Brix! She does look a bit wonderfully drunk. Thanks Brix.
MOTHERFUCKING AMAZING! They maintained a punk sound and integrated NEW WAVE into the mix...very kickass, badass stuff! I didn't know there was a chick in the band! Excellent song, thanks alot for posting this! *Favorited*
I've got a brilliant fast live version on an album from the Record Mirror music newspaper, was a postal only thing - called Fruitcakes and Furry Collars - must rip it sometime
Great song from amazing record. Video matches well. Being both a Fall/ Pavement fan (U.S.), I have to say that in the last 4 years I've been listening to more and more Fall. (There's so much more of it, too). From what I've heard, here are the most obvious ripoffs of/tributes to the Fall from Pavement: 1. New Face In Hell > Conduit For Sale! 2. Hip Priest > Our Singer (drum pattern/song structure almost identical), general vox on S&E 3. Artwork (Hex Enduction> S&E and Watery D. esp.)
brilliant brilliant song by a brilliant band! anyone know where i can see a video of their songs: shoulder pads hey luciani gentlemen's agreement janet vs johnny
Sing along lyrics: Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah Odeon Sky Uncanny, bushes are in disagreement with the heat L.L.L.L.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A L.L.L.L.L.L.L.A.A.A.A Ah ah ah ah Uncanny person They have filled boulevards with white snow, scum-ball Ah ah L.L.L.L.L.L.L.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A Ah ah ah ah ah (this is my happening and it freaks me out) Ah ah ah ah ah (this is my happening and it freaks me out) L.L.L.L.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A Ah ah ah ah ah (this is my happening and it freaks me out) L.L.L.L.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A. khambrelrene is right, Johnny. Magazine especially....Howard Devoto has that same sense of sarcasm that Mark E. does. They should have named this video "Brix" instead of "L.A." At the 2:57 minute mark, it clearly displays exactly why Mark E. should attempt to dance in any way, shape or form.....
@Huneiyue According to Wikipedia The Fall are post-punk. It doesn't really matter. They're The Fall! But I'm sure I read somewhere Mark E Smith opinion on punk. It wasn't favorable (to say the least)
