Holy f**k this is one of the best tunes I've ever heard in my life, and I'm nearly 60. How did I miss this. Still, making up for it now, can't stop playing it.
Cracking album I am curious oranj. My auntie and uncle bought it for me for Christmas when I was 14. I remember thinking what the fuck is this? Played it to death for years.
All the kids nowadays dream of being this. Possibly the coolest song ever recorded. RIP Mark E Smith. You coloured our nights & remained completely yourself to the end 💪
kids nowadays dont get this stuff at all ...-its too 'Anglo-saxon' shall we say ....Unfortunately its to be relegated to the dustbins of Time ..-very sad .. . !!!!
You know the Falls song No Bulbs ? I just created a video to go with it and id love you all to check it out, it is my recent upload on my channel, Septemeber 2018, or simply type in The Fall no Bulbs and look for my username, fith on on the list i think. Justin
"Although she wrote many of the most acclaimed songs on the album, including "Overture From Kurious Oranj", "Van Plague?" and "Bad News Girl", she was excluded from the writing and publishing credits."
Brought my whole family to see The Fall in 1990 well me two brothers anyway and they said they sounded like a poundstretcher Saints/ Beefheart rip off act but they liked the leads singers 'attitude' so I called it a draw
Best first Mark on the ball and great sound. Now where to begin Keyboard girl adding much glamour. Brix No. Bad outfit and worse make up ( not that good on the guitar paying out for a Rickenbacha?) Wilson just annoys the shit out of me. He used to try taking over the local news. I think 1st he was Tony Wilson then Anthony Wilson then Anthony J Wilson and something else maybe not in that order. His head is so far up his own arse it's beyond belief. Look did he really have to walk right back in the centre after the tune ? I think not
So true. It takes a little something to kick into the right gear to truly appreciate MES.... But if that switch does flip.... Welcome to the wonderful and frightening world of The Fall. Drooqs and MES equals the best feeling anyone can ever hope to achieve. If you are in the mood. RIP MES
John Peel introduced me and millions of others to all great alternative newcomer bands from the british isles! John Peel was as raw as the music he introduced.
To this day the Fall is my favorite punk/post punk group of all time. This clip shows how effortlessly COOL Smith is and what a shot of pure power glamour Brix gave the band. The rhythmic muscle of this track which is both insidious, slightly menacing, yet poppy, is just an example of how if the public could have been slightly more adventurous and GIVE IN to how Smith's caterwauling and dynamic sing shout actually ACCENTUATES this song and electrifies it - then the Fall would have been HUGE STARS. If anything, this video points to the necessity of taking music video and Music TV performance restoration seriously. Idiosyncratic and exceptional performers and groups (who often had fantastic videos) like the Fall, The Cramps, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Grace Jones, Lene Lovich etc. need to have their video output restored and put on formats like Blu-ray. There's no reason for such a fantastic clip like this to be relegated to shoddy RU-vid upload.
Ich habe the Fall einmal 1986 live gesehen es war ein unglaubliches Konzert. Diese Band war etwas besonderes, einen ganz eigenen zugang zum Rock'n'Roll. Danke dafür RIP Mark
@Schiani Ledo They just changed their name from ''Girl Band'' to ''Gilla Band'' because people said they had a ''misgendered name'', wow that's such a Mark E. Smith thing to do
Marcia Schofield 😍 I was 14 and this was the first fall album I heard and have been a life long fan since. They just looked and sounded so cool and so damn important. Prole art for the ages.
This is brill! Everything just comes together so well. The performance, the singing, the design the set and the filming. Brix and Marcia looking beautiful and alluring. Even MES looks the biz. WOW!!!
Never forget when this album came out , was at university in Durham. I bought the cassette and it was one of those auto play albums - I mean just playing it forwards and backwards nonstop on autoplay. absolute genius. RIP MES.
What is to be said that hasn't been said before? I love this band, I love this man, and I am so lucky that I chanced upon them in my formative years. RIP Mark E Smith
Love that comment. It really isn't up for debate, it's a fact. Used to have I am curilus orange on record with a turntable. Those days are sadly not far from gone.RIP Mark E Smith.🙏🙏😂👌
@@ggoldfingers Crap live??? They were inconsistent, but that was part of their appeal. But they were also absolutely superb live. Have you not seen this? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rH1KhxKh1YA.html or this? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bTJdWN6BqwU.html
I was 15 when curious orange came out bought the album off the back of one song Victoria if I remember. Promptly returned it to woolies thinking wtf. How naive was I.
I really, really love this song. !!! because of the bass and the rhythm, because of Mark E.'s energy and undescribable verbal-rhythmic input, and also because of Brix' s wonderful appearance and guitar playing, and also I want to say thanks and respect to the keyboards playing woman. 😘😘😘
Nice to see my mum's cousin Anthony looking so sharp on here..ahead of his time was that guy in many ways.I saw The Fall play about 4 or 5 yrs ago here in Hove ,fucking marvellous !
Tony, Mark and Rob Gretton up in heaven. Rob ripping the absolute shite out of Tony as he always did for any reason, Tony pretending to be offended but in reality loves the attention. Mark pissing himself laughing.
Danced to this song since 1987! Great song then and now. Today (03.02.2023)I found out that you left too soon Mark E .Smith (05.03.57- 24.01.18) my condolences ... r.i.p. 🙏 😢
It's sad he's gone. I just hope no one else from the classic era of Manchester music ends up the same way. New Order, The Smith's, Stone Roses, all of them.
I'll send you a hug ,my dad Ted died 7 weeks ago and yesterday I was watching some blues on the BBC and picked up my phone to ring his mobile...yeah gulp ,tears.xxx
Fall records never did much for me but I was lucky enough to see them live twice and they were mesmerising. No more than an hour of a very orderly chaos ruthlessly managed by MES. This clip I think captures the live experience as well as any other.
I'm 61 and was a big punk fan .but the Fall passed me by .I knew of them .but somehow never connected . The two sexy women , well placed to get noticed. Now starting to listen .
When I first discovered them I thought I found something special that very few people knew or appreciated. I remember passing on this limited edition little 3 inch cd set in a tiny orange wallet. 2500 were made . It was probably in 1989 at Piers platters in Hoboken. Remember it like yesterday 😁. Miss this dude
Loved it from 1988. We were wasted in college listening to it. Couldn’t recall band. Inside joke for 2 decades where we would say check the guys track record. Omg. Love it more now. Thank you.
Brix Smith looked fantastic here and made a lot of difference to the band. The Fall had some brilliant records in their time and Mark Smith vocals were not unlike Bob Dylan really. Intelligent lyrics.
Early Years 77-79. The Wonderful and Frightening World of The Fall, This Nation's Saving Grace, Grotesque are all essential for establishing a solid foundation in appreciating the complexity of The Fall.
super pullover of Mark, looking smart..i saw them playing live with Brix in my town. Stands out as something although if you have ever seen them live, it is the whole band , with everything in place , the wall of sound etc ... that is captivating.
You may not have been appreciated by the mainstream Mark, but The Fall’s impact on my own life has been monumental. Rest in peace hip priest. Your vibrations live on
