She didn't transform into a gorilla, it was always a gorilla, Vera just made it appear to be a security guard. She had gotten the real guard out of there and had opened the cage. It is similar to the one who purchased a black cat. He took a picture of Vera and the cat. But in the picture it wasn't a cat, it was a large rat. Vera makes them think they see whatever she wants them to see. Like the woman who thinks her husband is secretly having an affair with Vera. It is all in her head.
