The way Kitty looked at it (And at the audience!) so hesitantly and then taking a bite, before hearing what it was. And Gene's expressions were just hilarious!
Thats such perfect timing! Right as Kitty puts it in her mouth it's then announced that the contestant uses dog food. And her reaction was priceless!! I've watched this clip a million times now and still has not gotten old.
The varied reactions are gold. Kitty delicately trying to spit out the food back onto her fork. Bill quietly dropping his fork with a clatter and lifting up his hands as if to say, "I'm out." Peggy quickly getting over the shock to laugh in good fun over the joke that was played on them, and Gene rising from his seat to threaten Garry with the plate. Perfect encapsulations of the personalities involved.
Miss Carlisle knows her etiquette..... food exits the mouth the way it goes in.... not in the napkin !! She was always a lady AND a good sport.....also part of being a lady. ❤️❤️❤️
Thats the first time I have seen Kitty Carlisle sit of the left side of panelist area before. Usually she would sit next to Gary Moore on the right side.
I remember watching this when it was first broadcast! I wonder how many people made stroganoff after that! Our whole house was dying of laughter after Gary Moore said, "Why? Because it's dog food!"
Host Garry Moore teased the panel further. After what you see here, Garry assures them it isn't dog food they're eating - it's cat food. He finally assures them it's top quality canned beef stroganoff. By this time, the panel questions him further on this before digging in.
I always loved Kitty Carlisle, and what a blast to see her spit out a forkful of dogfood! When I was very little, I remember watching this show and wondering how they got Queen Elizabeth to be on a gameshow... You've got to admit their styles were remarkably similar!
The best version of TTTT. The panel has great chemistry on here. The game show theme music is very different. They even used the same furniture for the early 80s versions of TTTT. It was repainted red over the blue and the panels names were added.

There were always rumors that poor people ate dog food but it seemed to have been debunked when it was shown that dog food is actually more expensive than people food.
I'm surprised that the panel didn't get sick! Who wants to eat dog food? I wish your had uploaded the entire segment. We don't know who the real Terry is.
