Nic Cage was in Mandy last year, a better movie than anything Travolta's been in for at least 15 years. Have some respect for a living legend like Cage.
Don't forget Into the Spiderverse, and the fact how much of a presence does Cage have on the internet. Travolta is only brought up, when he makes a really bad film, like Gotti or this film, or when someone makes a dated Scientology joke.
This is the kind of movie you see on someone else's screen when you're sleep deprived on a 15 hour flight and it haunts you forever seeing it without audio wondering what is going on
@@levifontaine8186 my favorite on flights is the occasional movie scene involving nudity and watching the reaction of passengers around them. Never a shortage of quiet puritan outrage and craning from a repressed husband or two.
I personally believe that the movie is Hunter's fault. If he had just signed Moose's shirt and sent him on his way, Moose would've just moved on and left him be.
That is why Hunter is so bad just for the sake of being bad. The movie literally couldn't happen without him being such a stereotypical "never meet your hero".
Hunter being a good father makes his initial interactions with Moose even weirder. Like I just don't believe he would be that hostile to an obviously vulnerable adult when he's shown over and over as a nurturing parent. Also how long was Dora in the yard lmao
@abosier AEGreen never said or implied they were. The comment is only about the obvious plotholes, absurd behavioral patterns and inconsistent character traits in what is already a very bizarre story. Despite the protagonist's own lack of emotional intelligence, that actor part is actually my biggest issue with the film, too, because his (re-)actions make such little sense, especially for someone who's otherwise a loving, even-tempered parent. Even though Moose is not a child by law, he sure does have the immature, sensible, irresponsible temper of a child, and it's an educated guess to say someone with good parenting qualities would handle his childlike mind differently (if parenthood helps you develop one skill, it's patience + understanding). But snapping like that, cussing and executing extreme physical violence (instead of using legal ways and mens to keep that fanatic away)? - That is unusual for a loving parent.🤷🏽♀️
JMan9191991 Thanks! I saw I put out a comment (this is not my comment) but I was ready for bad replies all day. I love the movie watched it twice now. Not for laughs but understanding. 👍🏽
😂I love how at 19:40, the music in the movie tries to make the scene seem suspenseful and scary, but the “YOURE MEAN” line just makes the whole thing so damn hilarious 🤣
My brother and I watched this on Prime last night. Chris was not wrong in the slightest - we were in absolute hysterics. It's hammy as hell and terribly written. It has a kind of chaotic energy that resembles The Room in more ways than one. If you can get your hands on this movie (it's not very long at just under an hour and a half), please gather up your friends to watch this incredible dud unfold.
I recently met the head of the art department for this film and he told me that the scene where Moose sees Hunter in the spotlight was due to someone in the art department not printing out a large enough backdrop which led them to hide the highly pixelated backdrop with a spotlight.
I'm surprised nobody pointed out the irony of the casting. Hunter was played by the same actor who played the fanatic from that Eminem music video Stan.
@@Poop_Deck_Pappy "Before you were able to SPELL YOUR NAME, *I* was conquering GALAXIES!" "WITH ENDLESS CYCLES OF RENEWEL" My God, man... everyone needs to watch Battlefield Earth.
"starting"? There was a reason they were cast opposite each other in Face/Off. Travolta has been hammy for many years. When it fits the vibe of the movie it works. When it doesn't....
+William Orrah This is not necessarily a bad thing! I'd love to see a film starring John Travolta, Nicolas Cage and Gary Busey. And, to be honest, all three gentlemen have given some amazing performances in their lives. EDIT: Holy fuck, I forgot about "Face/Off!!" I guess I need to watch that one again. To be fair, though, Busey wasn't in that SOB. He had many awesome, over-the-top performances in the '90s. "Predator 2," "Surviving the Game," "Under Siege, " etc.
What I wouldn't give to have been a fly on the wall in that writers room. It's as if they mistakenly deleted the wrong scenes. This film is not finished.
The cast: We all regret making this film, Fred. Seriously its just fucking horrible. Fred Durst: That sucks for you noob but we gotta keep them cameras rollin rollin rollin rollin
Holy shit. I remember night of the twisters. I remember watching it on VHS and couldn't figure out what the title of that strange gem was called. Thank you!
@@TheBattlesword with all due respect, Glass is not as bad as the other movies you listed. Yes, the final act sucks but the rest of the movie is quite OK tho.
@@TheBattlesword dislike for having Glass in there. Even if you thought it was bad i can name 20 movies I saw this year worse than Glass and so can you.
There's something about seeing him hurt and upset at the end that makes me wanna cry. This movie is awful, offensive and I hope John Travolta regrets this for a long time.
I feel the exact same way. I intensely dislike the idea of seeing someone who is supposed to be on the spectrum being hurt and upset like that. I also dislike the way someone who IS on the spectrum is portrayed here. I think it's a stereotypical portrayal. I think this movie could have been done way better with a much better writer and different actor.
@Daisy Mae Hunter defending himself from a home invader absolutely. But he takes it too far, shooting off someone's fingers point blank with a shotgun sounds like a fucking torture method. Hunter could've easily knocked Moose in the face like twice and called the cops, but he took it too far. Keep in mind I never liked either of the characters because both are horribly unreasonable and Travoltas performance sucks balls, but the movie had no reason to become sadistic at the very end.
Wait a minute,... The protagonist is called "Moose", and the antagonist is called "Hunter"... How obvious is this movie? Does Durst even know what subtlety is?
@Chick Magnet Joe funny how you're a joe who's a magnet to everything but chicks - unless you count your damn self. Cos youre so much of a troll, your first grade english teacher took one at you and kept on failing you, until you dropped out. LOL
@Chick Magnet Joe no I hated his portrayal,he made people like me look like we're just a bunch of slow, sociopaths, stuck in our own fantasy when in reality we're compassionate, smart and aware on our effect on others,we just have some problems socializing with others Edit:but at the same time I thought the portrayal was hilarious in a laugh at yourself type of way
It's actually taken me the 8 months since this review came out to notice The Fanatic is a movie about someone being a fanatic for the guy who played Stan in Eminem's music video, who is also a fanatic..... Eminem did this entire movie in 3 minutes in 30 seconds and created a classic.
Simple Jack was a better movie, and it was NOT a good movie. But still a better movie which is saying something although I am not sure I want to know what....
There’s no way this movie was meant to be taken seriously. It has to be some kind of dark comedy. Or maybe it’s a “Producers”-style scheme where they purposely made a bad movie as a tax write off
