Talking about the boxer rebellion, check out his video on Dan Daly, the guy who fought in that rebellion. Got 2 congressional medals of honor, and was denied a third, and then they changed the rules that you can only have 1. Dan Daly, the fightenist marine ever. Quoted by the only other marine with 2 CMO.
Respect for Canadians lately. And listening to the natives also watching these videos is how they joke that committing war crimes IS Canada's unofficial military motto.
The military was actually one of the most integrated institutions during the pre-Civil Rights era. Soldiers of all races had to trust each other, and it made a lot of soldiers much less racist than the average population.
Arguably my favorite US military madman he has covered is this one. But I'm not sure if he was the last to pull a bayonet charge in general. The greek forces in Korea also regularly used bayonets. There was even an interview of some US Veterans, were one of them said that the greeks were the only ones that cleaned their bayonets after each fight, in a way showing their frequent reliance on the weapon.
The uphill charge they hit their line and went both ways, catching them looking downhill! his men said he got one so hard and fast , he threw him up and caught him when he came down!
If you are interested in a short video on the greek forces in Korea, i suggest "USA marines talk about Greek soldiers in Korean War (1950-1955)". Their use of bayonets is frequently mentioned
I'm pretty certain the last known bayonet charge was conducted by either the British Army or British Royal Marines in Afghanistan, something about being pinned down on a bridge
"The mustache is not gonna sit on itself!" 🤣 OK...that one is a classic...F.E. must have heard that, because somebody has got to have said that at some point. ROFLMAO Also, war between the US and Germany was inevitable by the time Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Most folks think the US would not have gone to war if Bitchler had not declared war on us, but the US and Germany were already in an undeclared war in the Atlantic by September of 1941 and US Marines were defending European territory in Iceland, so by December of 1941 all out war between Germany and the US was at most 2 or 3 months away. FDR was committed to fighting Germany long before most other Americans came around to the idea...and while he had to be very very careful what he said in the Election of November 1940, as soon as he won that, he began to openly push for the US to get more involved in the war, His Arsenal of Democracy speech was the first part of the public relations campaign to convince the American people to support the US getting actively involved. TIK did a great video on The Real Reason Bitchler declared war on the USA...you should absolutely check that out.
You're forgetting the bayonet charges broke the enemy. If it works it isn't stupid. I don't know how bad the casualties were but I'm thinking they were actually lower then the expected rate.
The thing I found interesting is you hear about Banzi charges all the time, which were basically bayonet charges, you rarely hear about them being successful, now when Americans do them...
I wrote a novel where my main character joined the Canadian army in WW1. They created what we call a commando. What do you think our ww2 vets would say about wokeism?
Yeah...one of the things Oversimplified pretty much gets wrong in the WW2 series...along with Pykrete, and that Nimitz was an Admiral not a General, among many other things. Yeah...they needed to do more research for that series.
to be fair. they are called oversimplified for a reason. and yes i agree with your statement but for a quick rundown of events they are great. just make sure to do some research yourself afterwards.@@iKvetch558
@@raikbarczynski6582 Indeed...but oversimplifying means that it is that much MORE important that everything you DO say is as 100 percent correct as possible. I appreciate they they are oversimplifying, and I don't get all long winded about stuff they left out...but the fact that they are oversimplifying is not some license to get a bunch of things wrong, to varying degrees. Some things they get wrong are not too important, like Nimitz being an Admiral or the Pykrete stuff, but other things they got wrong are pretty bad, like suggesting the NSDAP took power because of their popularity.
