I've known Bob for over 20 years, and he is just as genuine as he comes across. He's helped me out of a couple of binds on some weird parts for my Volvos.
I have my own Car Wizards here at Sturgis Garage and Wrecker Service in Bloomington, IN. Just put in new rear brakes on our Honda, and performed a wheel alignment on the Versa. Need to make an appointment for a new serpentine belt. Great people, great service, fair prices.
@@angelsriverajr5663 here where I live in Texas we have a bunch of drag racing legends that use their car knowledge to help us out, me and my family are good friends with everyone in town and its great.
The Wizard is simply a good respectful dude. Super calm and understanding. I work as a tech aswell and we need more people like him in this trade. thanks for your service Wizard, id love to shake your hand one day.
Jerk Of All Trades I mean it’s kinda easy to if you spend thousands of thousands of dollars at his shop. Hoovie also lets him work on really cool cars! He is a really good mechanic though!
I watched the video where he was being a "jerk" and thought I had the wrong one. He was just naturally freaked out, and the Wizard was naturally taking responsibility. Love these two!
I agree. I think the Wizard just felt a bit embarrassed that his shop made that mistake, for everyone to see. And Hoovie did kind of go a little melodramatic on him.
Hoovie: "Bye Wizard. I love you." Drives off into the sunset. Wizard: "Okay...that sounds good." Laughs nervously and gets straight back to work. Brilliant!
There still are a few around, its just most of them live here in Central/Eastern Europe or further east....they are a dying breed, though. I mean, there is a legendary guy who built and rode his own custom chopper- during the cold war, this side of the iron curtain, with no resources, tools or parts available. Didnt stop him though, used a block of steel and some acid to make vented disc brakes by hand, etc....back in the 70s. Luckily, the offspring of many of these folk heroes still carry the torch...
100% How many garages would hold their hands up to a genuine mistake and even promise to stand by their mistake even if it means a $30,000 transmission.
@@LearnAboutFlow that's far from the truth. It only shows that Hoovie knows that he overreacted and he's apologetic for that since overreacting doesn't help anyone in any circumstance.
@@LearnAboutFlow it's more about the long standing relationship than the mistake. Tyler had a right to be upset but its clear wizard would do right by his friend and #1 customer.
He has got a personality, which in sales you're pretty much dead without. It's the trick of of making people believe that what you actually want is what they really want.
Make a mistake, own it, apologize with no excuses, do better, move on. When you're on the receiving end- graciously forgive, no grudges, move on. Two real men right there.
As a small-time mechanic, it’s nice to see you respecting the Wizard for all of his hard work and patience when it comes to dealing with your prize possessions. We are all human and mistakes we will make, but it takes a really good person to understand that and still hold appreciation for his mechanic. Love the channel and keep up the awesome content Hoovie!
@@ironymatt I figure Tyler got hammered by his fans. I also figure many of Tyler's subs are Wizard subs too. These channels are a popularity contest and it’s easy to lose followers. Apologizing was about actually being sorry and self preservation.
Just started watching hoovie’s channel. Very funny dude. Love the fact that he’s giving these businesses as much work as he is, they seem genuinely grateful. Keep up the good work guys.
I love how easily it is to click on ANY Hoovies video, no matter the sequence. They're all edited so perfectly; each is a wonderful, hilarious, and informative story.
Freaking out is understandable but how you act while you’re freaking out shows your character. You don’t have to be a screaming idiot to point out someone’s mistake and let them know you’re unhappy.
Nah ... you would have pissed and moaned for a few videos, blamed your subscribers, then reminded everyone how hard you are rolling in RU-vid cash ... and then had someone fix the car for you while taking all the credit.
I'm sure he didn't freak out one bit. This was just for the drama of the video. He called the wizard and told him that he suspected they made an error. No big deal but it spawned 1½ videos and a lot of $$$ views.
hey if you got the charm to pull it off, and given he's a restaraunt opener, he evidently does, plus he was in the car dealing business, went to college, and all that, its not like he's come from nothing, he did work for it and he kinda worked himself into getting his job thanks to clarkson punching a guy over cold food lol like who knew that old ape being an angry ape could end up doing so much good lol
Sometimes it takes more than a Kumbaya to make things good between business partners. Anyone notice how the Wizard seems more guarded in his interactions with Hoovie? Lesson to take home: Don't bash your friend in the teeth when he makes an honest mistake, he already feels bad enough.
Tell wizard to look into a Prius power steering set up. Can get the motor unit for like $200 and just needs some fabricating to fit and connect battery to it and it will be amazing and you don’t need any modules or anything.
For the Mustang? Which year prius' are we talking about? Is it a self contained system then? What kind of fab is needed, is there some educative thread?
@@Kydenius I actually just finished up with a swap to this on my Mitsu Starion. There are a lot of compatible columns actually, but I used a column out of a 2012 yaris, a steering rack from a 2008 yaris, and a powersteering ecu from a 2010 corolla. Level of fabrication to make everything fit really depends on what you're putting it into. What about the electric one Cooper Bogetti put on his LS swapped 240 drift car he's building, I think it was off of a Volvo, not sure it was a couple months back. I think it worked with the factory GM pump.
Everyone can have their moment of freaking out about something, epecially when it comes to their "dream." The fact that Hoovie realizes after less than a week or so that he was being dramatic and profusely apologizing to the Wizard shows he is a good guy. Even if it was on the Wizards part

He was always still going to be friends with the Wizard. If the gearbox was fucked the Wizard would've just paid to replace it as it was his mistake, a very expensive mistake mind.
Both of your Mechanics make the channel great, Wheeezard is the Dad jokey competent 'Can Do' guy and Johnny The Car Ninja is incredible, calm under fire and always knows exactly what the issues are plus his shop is clinical, incredibly well laid out and he has ALL the good gear. But most importantly they are both hard core Car Guys and both obviously enjoy your company and it shows. These guys are the types of Business owners I always wish well and hope they make obscene profits to keep them busy and in work because they need to be preserved and rewarded for going that extra mile as well as thanked for putting up with all the Crap that Master Technicians have to put up with.
Yes, but I think he owes Hoovie a wide berth; many people would go a bit apesh*t if somebody put the wrong fluids in their exotic car. Obviously put downs are not productive and it's possible The Wizard isn't even responsible for the mistake. But when an off warranty car with a German dual-clitch transmission valued more than most people's entire automobiles is believed to be at risk for catastrophic damage, I'd probably say some pretty harsh things too.
@@KronosIV Sometimes you must haha. The idea of being out $30k could definitely change my tone! He has saved the guy multiple SLS transmissions worth of parts and labor on so many of his cars by now though I would have to bite my tongue before going off about money lol..
Seeing EuroAsian was a real flashback for me. That shop looks exactly the same. Way back around 1990 I bought a '88 BMW535i stick from Bob who also looks the same. It was a salvage job someone had stolen and crunched the front end a little. He pulled it out for a test drive and did a burnout in front of his shop. I remember his crazy laugh and thought 'damn you want me to buy this!' I fixed it up Moe Zahr Best BMW did the mechanical stuff, and I drove it for many years. Love watching you drive around Wichita - miss that town actually.
When I was a kid of 17 my dad was helping me change the oil on my car and his. In the process I filled his power steering unit with STP instead of power steering fluid. I had asked my dad three times if I had the correct location and he said yes, not really paying attention to me. So instead of adding the STP to the crankcase I put it in the power steering unit. When I said it is full he stopped and loudly said “what?” After lots of screaming at me and me having to remove the unit and doing me best to clean it out, one of my dad’s friends laughed and told my dad that you could use the STP in the power steering unit without any issue. Took about 5 years before we could laugh about it though...
Hoovie's fleet, just the types of cars and numbers of those cars he's paying to get fixed is getting nuts. Taking grandmas Merc to Macco to get fixed was definitely Hoovies "jump the shark" moment.
I just watched the previous video to this on how the error with the fluids happened and as I posted on there, I'm glad that everything was sorted, I suppose it helped that both fluids were kind of compatible, so no permanent damage was done to that awesome car, stay well and stay safe.

It's ok to freak out on real friends once in a while, as long as you remember to apologize and make it right with them and reciprocate. That why they're real friends, everyone loses it once in a while.
At least you know the fluid is fully cleaned out, just draining fluid doesn't get everything out so it should feel much better and last a lot longer if you keep up with service intervals!
Glad you sorted your issues out with the wizard. You have a great working relationship together. It's how you deal with the problems, that define the true nature of folk, so well done guys for working the issue out!
Happy to see things working out on the Benz. I put the wrong fluid in my Lexus and only drove it 1 mile, flushed it 3 times and I’ve had a hard shift ever since. Luckily it lasted till 325,000 miles and when it finally failed I figured I had gotten my money’s worth on it.
