Yair is the Condit of Featherweight, elite striker with submissions off his back but has horrible takedown defense. That’s always been his kryptonite, he always fumbles against guys with elite wrestling and he’s shown it time and time again.

Volk isn’t nearly good enough of a low kicker to really exploit that weakness of Ilia’s. He throws more slapping inside low kicks, he doesn’t hurt or finish ppl with power low kicks like prime aldo or Superlek

Ilia also has elite MMA grappling mixing up the Greco Roman and BJJ so Yair doesn't have a chance because he'll get taken down.

I realized the Moreno fights that were bangers were bangers because of Figgy, Pantoja and Kara-France, I mean Moreno's a really good fighter but those fighters were the main reasons those fights turned into entertaining wars, Figgy Moreno 1 for example

I can’t stand these dorks who just write off fighters as “they’re gonna get destroyed” it just irritates me because we’ve been shown time and time again that it’s just not the case, literally no one thought Sean would beat Izzy, and he did, so writing off the entire division as “dead” just is stupid

I cant think of a single instance where an ultra dominant champion, who cleared out the entire division (Volk also through Max) lost to the only undefeated contender left. Coming closest would be Anderson Silva against Weidman, but I dont know how many of the later greats were already on the horizon at the time

Besides the obvious Holloway fight, if Evloev gets a shot, that could be grounds for Allen to get a shot too (after he gets back on the winning side ofc) I agree tho, Ilia looks so dominant compared to the rest of FW. The only saving grace is maybe O'Malley going up after Chito and Merab (although I don't see anyone beating Merab at bantamweight) Holloway, Evloev for sure. Maybe another champ smashing Ortega 😂 Volk II in the far future (hopefully Volk takes a LONG break) and maybe O'Malley after Chito and Merab or Aljo (?) I don't think the yair topouria fight would be interesting at all. Yair has a tendency to do poorly against pressure and all ilia does is pressure you. Ilia would also just ragdoll him if he had trouble on the feet

Ilia landed some very heavy leg kicks of his own and it actually made Volk switch stances a few times which probably threw the whole game plan out the window. That is a big deal against an opponent you think is only a “boxer”. In fact Ilias fight stance is perfect for his stature and weapons. He can blast heavy leg kicks. He can blast takedowns if needed. He can Sprawl when needed. And he is planted and “sitting on his punches” as boxers with KO power does. His footwork and subtle feints is just beautiful… beautiful head movement… and when he smells blood.. it’s a wrap. That dude is fckn legit man.

Topuria relies heavily on his boxing sure - but he could also use his boxing to work for a takedown as his Ju-Jitsu ground game is at a far higher level than Rodriguez - Yair if not knocked out would be subbed out for sure in the 1st or 2nd round. Don't forget Ilias boxing is at a far higher level than Ortegas and Brian landed a few on Yair.

Movsar busted up Allen (and I’m a fan) but either is an interesting fight against Topuria, as is Yair or T-City. Sometimes it’s just fun to see the matchups play out and see how the styles mesh.

I’m sorry but Allen did NOT win that fight against Movsar. Movsar fucked him in R2, and in R1 numerically outscruck him, had more takedowns and control time. Allen clearly won R3, but not R1, which was still close.

Volk rematch is going to happen. Max is interesting, it’s just unfortunate he’s about to fight Gaethje. Evloev vs Ortega as a number one contender fight could build some hype, unless it’s a boring decision, which is very possible. If Aljo beats Kattar they could push for him to get a shot after another win. Maybe him against Allen. You know there will probably be some double champ BS aspirations so Diego Lopes or Lerone Murphy could have a few more wins by the time Ilia would be on his 3rd or 4th hypothetical defense. Maybe post-USADA Edson Barbosa can make a run 😂. There would be the kicker vs boxer matchup we’re not getting with Yair. I get what you’re saying about the Low Kicks against Ilia. I think in theory it should be the biggest counter to him. However you gotta be willing to bite down on that mouth piece when you throw it because Ilia may just go over the top and knock you out anyway. Especially inside low kicks, I could see Ilia throwing through them like Poirier vs Gaethje in their first fight. And I definitely don’t think Yair has the chin to stand with Ilia long. Ortega may have the chin but he doesn’t have the skills 😂

Volk cleared out the division, not Topuria. Despite Yair losing to Ortega, he is a nightmarish opponent to Illia, I still feel Yair's dynamic style mixed with the general dislike he has for Topuria, gets Yair a win against Topuria. Topuria has to defend the belt, multiple defenses we are talking here.

Unless Volk loses a step in the next year while he's recovering, I think he has a good chance at beating Topuria in the rematch. People acting like he's washed, but I disagree. He looked very good the first round, just made a mistake and that's all it takes sometimes.

one of the worst analysis ive ever seen in history of windows honestly. and pereira hill also bad. u cant lowkick topuria if he in close distance, cuz u change kick for a punch in a face, check ngannu rozenstruik fight. in another situation: u dont have enough leg reach, for this long disctance, cuz ilia stay in outside for a fake/faints. for a explosive fighter like topuria, with suprem boxing advantage, fast change distance not a problem, it's a problem of kick and muaythai boxers. and this skill nullify lowkick danger. u cant just spam kicks for a every ilia fakes and opens for a combo after. and worst matchup for a topuria, its evloev. if Movsar fights like Movsar and turns fight into a "Movsar Evloev fight", he will be able to win it.
