Sean should have lost against Yan. The fight was very close but sean sean was blatantly cheating, he grabbed the cage about a dozen times to stop the takedowns and he hooked petr’s gloves a bunch of times too.

The thing with Petr Yan is that everyone thought Yan won, it wasn't until Sean edgeded the decision and some time pass that people thought he actually won. I think everyone got the recency bias and deluded themselves with Sean winning.

Sean is really an incredible fighter. He's so young and so good, his fights are always entertaining. He just simply won't be as big as Conor.

Petr didn't do damage with SOME takedowns due to Sean grabbing his glove. He cheated countless times in that fight which significantly altered important moments. So yes, I will continue to say Petr did enough, but the UFC wants their stars.

Sean’s got real one shot ko power which gives him a massive advantage over most of the division. He’s also got those super rare eyes where he knows exactly where he is in relation to his opponent and can move out of the way of their shots by centimeters and deliver a perfect counter. Those things are extremely hard to come by at lower weight classes. Floyd used to have it until he ran into his hand issues but even then his eyes kept him on top forever. If he stays focused and doesn’t run into personal issues like mcgregor, I don’t see umar being the magical answer to Sean.

I think Sean is a bellend but I can also agree that he is very talented, big fan of his fighting, not a fan of his pesonality.

The way i see it because they have a similar frame for the weigh class O'Malley's and Sandhagen's skills are somewhat close. Sean having the upper hand in power on the striking department I believe is what could be the difference in the way these two approach a matchup with Merab. Sean having a more aggresive path to a possible victory, that is also when he has more success, while Cory being more crafty and better in the backfoot looking for a counters

The fact you say the Nelk boys don't know anything about MMA but then don't have a clue why people think the Yanq fight was a robbery. The reason being is Sean cheated in some key moments by grabbing the cage and his shorts to stop the take down. Had this not happened it would of been a clear win for Yan. It was obvious, the ref allowed it to happen too. Yes Sean did better than expected but he got given the win him multiple ways!

i just wanted to say that when aljo and sean were going to fight i didn’t know much about the UFC yet but i wanted sean to win just cause i like his hair and it’s similar to mine. now he’s my favorite fighter

When Sean started being honest and saying ppl were really good and difficult and hard fights is when I started liking him. When he was delusional like he would kill everyone I didn’t. But when he changed and said yeah he can def beat me I started liking him.

He did enough to beat Petr Yan, Rd. 1 he matched all of the exchanges with Yan, and even had the edge in some, then Yan took the 2nd clearly, and O’Malley doubled Yan’s strikes in the 3rd making it clear. The Sandhagen is better than O’Malley statement I also agree is not set in stone, and if anything should be said in Sean’s favour. I said the exact same points as you when talking about it before. For some reason people like to overlook Sean’s one hitter quitters, but him and Cory fight pretty well the same outside of the fact that Sean poses that power threat every second he’s out there, and Cory doesn’t have that unless he lands the flying knee, or something tricky like that

When does Sean knock anyone out cold? I agree he is skilled and has some power but his Ko are always TKO from accumulated damage over time. Freaking Moutino took 4000 shots from Sean. I don't think he's going to knock out Chito or Corey. Maybe Merab if he runs in like Aljo did.

Yes, the Yan fight was a robbery. You pissing and moaning about it being "close so it's not a robbery" doesn't change the fact and is you just towing the company line. Yan clearly beat him and demonstrated he was better at everything, one knee that cut him badly doesn't change that, especially since Yan hit him with the far harder, cleaner shots. Vera's caveman ass with fight IQ in the negatives still got to O'Malley whenever he deigned to actually close the distance.

The day my opinion of O'Malley changed was when he fought Yan, and Yan seemed bothered by his power. His self promotion hasn't changed since he's been in the UFC, but it hits different coming from a champion than a guy fighting unranked fighters in the prelims. I actually think O'Malley holds onto the belt for awhile.
