This is honestly after it already cleaned up a lot for streams and whatnot. All the craziest shit was from the early SF2 days. It wasn't just being people being toxic back then, it was a lot of actual fights. It didn't matter if they were almost 10 years older than you, dudes would push you off the machine or wait outside for you if you threw them too many times A lot of pizza places and convenience stores in my area actually ended up getting rid of the SF2/MK cabs because they were causing too many fights.

yeah "fgc" is the clips and stuff we see on youtube a decade ago, then capcom came back with sf4 and it blew up into esports before everything got sanitized but yeah this went back to the 90s when ppl showed up to the arcades, pizza places or any store with an arcade machine for sf2, mk (i was usually on soul calibur, nightmare, cause i loved abusing ring outs in desperation lol) lots of competition, some bullying, and i always heard about fights and stabbings and shit at other arcades thru forums on prodigy/aol but the ones i went to in san rafael and fairfield were pretty friendly, just big toxic hype crowds with an annoying mix of kids/teens/young adults but yeah the only rule back then was you stay on until someone beats you off...obviously there was issues surrounding that golden rule😂

I don't mind pop offs, gotta hold that L. But some peeps are real toxic in their general every day interactions with people, and then when they pop off afterwards I can see some people getting salty over it. Fchamp, for example, is a fairly well known troll/shit talker. Some say he just likes to play the villain, some think it's cool. I don't really care either way, that's what he does. If you let it get under your skin, he's winning. But I can def understand some people feeling some kind of way about it, if he just keeps on laying in to them and popping off etc. Like you said though, don't want to suffer through it, then just win. They can't pop off or say anything if you beat them. KBR beating Fchamp at winterbrawl in grands after champ beat him in the ft15 and talked all that shit about him being a scrub is such an iconic moment because of all that. No one would remember that moment if they both just went "gg" after the ft15 and then "gg" again after grands. The drama, pop-offs etc are a part of the scene, sometimes for better, some times for worse.

miss the toxic old school fgc days..it was fun, we knew what we were signing up for money matches were the shit and there was just something magical about grown young men consensually screaming and fighting while like super smash is running in the background (and there was a whole war about smash even being a hxc fighter back then😂..(i used to hate, cause i sucked, but was good at umvc3 but it is)

It really depends on context. A bunch of people being toxic together and encouraging the toxicity isn't not toxic, it just means everyone is. Like that first clip imo is pretty bad. It's a dude getting yelled at, he dissent look like he's having fun, and everyone is laughing at him getting yelled at. It's closer to a mob or haze than a wholesome fgc moment. It's just middle school bullying lol

You can say times change, but with the introduction of sponsored streams, professionalism becomes the rule, and people need to get paid. So, it’s more a shift of values, from grassroots to mainstream. Also, these dudes were young, and liked mentioned with JWong, when you get older or have a kid, you gotta reign that shit in.

If it's tame for the FGC, it just means the FGC is a toxic community. Toxicity isn't something rated on a scale. If the person being yelled at isn't having fun anymore, it's toxic and that's it. The first clip with one dude being yelled at, clearly not enjoying it and everyone basically laughing at him is closer to hazing than a funny haha moment, and if you think that shit was funny, it just means you're toxic.
