She knew that the kid had a better chance with the machine that was requested but the protocol for triage requires the use of the machine for the man that needs the life-saving surgery. Like it was said in the clip, there were other methods that they could use while waiting. Still, the words that the mother threw at her hurt because she herself is a mother and all doctors are human. Monster is a harsh insult and doctors try their hardest to save their patients but it was out of her control. I know the mother was distraught, but you do not pin the blame on your husband if it was not his fault. And you definitely do not call a doctor, trying to save your son, a monster. That mother hurt Natalie so badly she broke down internally. I can tell from the stress on Natalie's face that she is severely hurt emotionally, and when she started crying; I was so angry at the mother. She ought to be ashamed for calling Natalie a monster, just to backpedal the second her son is fine.

Exactly you don't exactly get the right to throw careless words out there because you're hurting, that can be damaging to relationships.
@dmf1301
@dmf1301 9 месяцев назад
@@awaziee1960 It's quite fascinating how people refuse to excuse lashing out in anger and stress at a partner - they always say 'the person is abusive for lashing out at you so you should dump them' - but apparently it's ok to call the doctor who is trying to save your child's life a monster because you don't like the fact that OTHER PEOPLE exist, too, who need access to resources. If that guy posted on reddit about what his wife said to him, he would definitely be advised to dump her for being 'abusive.' If that child hadn't made it, that mother would not have given a lame as apology. She probably would have attacked the doctor and then tried to sue the hospital! Doctors work to give people a chance whenever they can. Sadly, they don't always succeed, but they're not 'monsters' because life doesn't revolve around one person.

@@dmf1301 I agree people judge doctors and hospitals too harshly sometimes because their policies seem inhumane or unjust to them because they just can't fathom having to make those kinds of impossible decisions especially when their own loved ones are on the line. Having to choose between two patients who both need the same procedure but there's only enough resources for one and having to then calculate as accurately as possible which one has the higher survival rate is something they have to do multiple times during their careers and it haunts a lot of them and people's judgement doesn't help anyone.
@dmf1301
@dmf1301 6 месяцев назад
@@waywardwarrior2817 And in this case, it wasn't about the other man having a 'better' survival rate than the little boy... the little boy had other options to help the same problem, and the man did not. That's why they gave him the priority with the specific procedure.

The mothers like " My son needs the room! What type of monster are you Doctor Manning!" The man saved your sons life and she never even said thank you , Doc. was helping your son and u call her a monster?!

The amount of parents saying they would do the same , never knew so many people could be so disgusting. It’s a hospital , there are other people in need too. If any parent tries to justify her actions you’re just a selfish disrespectful person for no regards than yourself

I feel so bad for health workers, my heart bleeds for them but I also understand how the patients and relatives feel its easy to lose your senses when your loved ones are in danger. I'm so happy that the mom apologized but I still feel so bad for Manning it really is heartbreaking how health workers are treated 😥

I know a doctor who's name I cant give but the thing is that his son died at the age of 9 yrs due to medical negligence. It lead him so devastated that he has left medical practise . Sure he checks some patients at home now and then but his passion had had a major blow back. So I can understand how Dr. Manny must have felt to some extent
