Goku vs Cell had such great quality, animation, choteography, etc. Everything about it was just so good and it was an actual fight, with technique. Not just the characters punching and kicking really fast. Both fighters actively dodged and countered and countered that and dodged again. I wish Super had this level of choreography and animation because I love this fight so much
Goku vs Jiren had great qualityand animation, also they were also punching and kicking in this fight rarely using technique like goku vs jiren, so I don’t get your point
😂😂Make sense tho goku dbz isn't stupid he knew he wasn't a match for cell so he was super serious and it was pretty much a show to prepare gohan u know how🤔 cell moves and fights.
That’s because goku has gotten a lot faster and stronger since the cell fight. Like hercule says it’s all light shows n tricks. Fights are better in OG dragon ball
they just wanna show us how fast dragon ball characters really are and goku looking where cell appeared before he even showed up was cuz he sensed his energy too
@@theterminator9527 yeah, I won't lie I found the Goku black saga animation was quite weird to be honest. The fight scenes were wacky and weirdly animated. Aside from that it still had good fight scenes.
Lets exclude the fact goku wanted Gohan to release his anger both Gohan and cell were a lot stronger than goku and im not talking about ssj2 or super perfect cell Cell was just playing around the entire fight and goku knew it as soon as cell got serius goku would die
Goku knew that he doesn't have the power to completely destroy cell beyond his ability to regenerate, at least not in a way cell would allow to hit him like he did with Vegetas final flash. Doing instant transmission kamehameha is a trick, not something he can repeat without Cell catching on. Goku thought Gohan's rage would be enough, but probably underestimated what it would take to bring it out Basically, Goku could fight Cell until his body is destroyed since Cell could keep regenerating and they would rather let Earth be destroyed than team up on an opponent
@@Brometheus420 sadly teaming up wouldnt work as soon as they began to fight cell all against him he would stop his little tournament and start the killing Their only shot at killing cell as a team was if they all blasted off topless cell after goku blew him off Remember gohan didnt wanted to kill and he was the only one with power on the same level as cell Goku just pulled a final flash vegeta but cell without knowing it let it happen Because of the shock of " goku Will destroy earth" when he had goku in front of him it was too late And if goku didnt stood much chance vegeta trunks and piccolo were worse Since vegeta was the strongest and he was weaker than half of gokus power
This was one of Goku’s top fights all time hands down. He really showed everyone how he was leagues above them at super saiyan level… anyway that Instant transmission kamehemaha wave was fucking insane… everyone thought he was gonna blow the earth with that blast…. It was one of my fav scenes ever!!!
Gohan was actually stronger than Goku here even at SSJ. The difference is how much better a fighter Goku is than everyone else. Even though Cell was holding back to enjoy his fight with Goku, he was outclassed as a fighter.
@@storm_9081 nah, animation wise majin vegeta vs goku is the best in any dragon ball anime, especially the choreography, excluding movies ofc. kid buu vs goku is a close second.
anytime they missed eachother is was JUST BARELY and i love how serious both of them are here. there's truly never expressions like these in dragon ball super anymore
Yeah, Cell was warming-up. Also they were holding back due to the rule limitiations. Remember Cell fought Goku first time here and also was trying out his perfect form for good. Goku knew all this, he was showing Gohan his opponent’s style. Nevertheless the writing was strong then, it had meaning, fight were a matter of life and death, and not to mention Super Saiya-jin was relevant. Peak of Z imo.
@@PatternLand anime becoming mainstream is both a curse and a blessing, on one side you get more budget but on the other you get less time and end with strange animation problems, and it's been happening in all studios.
Totally not Mark did a video on this where he redrew lots of DBS art to make it look like Z. It explains a lot. Check it out and everything will make way more sense. It's a 2 parter, too.
He was a fraud because idiot Eastern fans, DBZ was SUPPOSED to be about Gohan and him being the strongest warrior but idiot fans in the East had to be cry babies so they rewrote everything. Stupid BS.
@@rojevil2829 I know metal cooler wasn't cannon but his disregard for new namek while battling that shiny a hole was bad arse. Blasting cell in half and then exploding himself, paralyzing Nappa
Cell literally got lucky absorbing piccolo’s cells in the beginning because he had massive regeneration hacks, bro died multiple times before and while he was perfect
It’s the fact it took so long for one of them to make contact because they were seriously getting a feel for each other the choreography of this fight and set up for Gohan was just top tier
@@TonyCrisprubybecause it's overshadow by fights like Vegtea vs Goku Frieza vs Goku Ssj2 Gohan vs Perfect Cell Semi Perfect Cell vs Vegtea and Trunks Super Buu vs Gohan and Vegtio And many more but yeah this is underrated
@@RobbertRobbert12345yeah if cell did not have regeneration he would have been a lot more careful and I don’t think he would have let goku sneak up on him like that and let him use that instant kamehameha.
Keep in mind, every fight in anime history is in slow motion, they appear slowed down cause the fights would happen in seconds at normal speed. Take their superhuman speeds into account.
I’m surprised ppl still don’t know this, goku’s fight with jiren after vegeta got knocked out all happened in 2 minutes from base to mui and then frieza and 17 coming to finish the job. And there was still time even after everyone except 17 got knocked out, meaning the fight was only like 50 seconds
Honestly one of the best fights because it truly felt like a one on one with evenly match fight with a focus on hand to hand combat. Really felt like the older dragonball fighting tournaments.
Yea after image vanishes than 1 leg sweep dodge is definitely great choreography oh yea lol naruto could never also I'd rematch the goku vs jiren full fight over this 40 times over lol
Goku was going all out in that fight. While Cell was just "Warming Up". Even Gohan said that Goku and Cell was playing. But little did Gohan knew that Goku was already at his limit, only Cell was playing. This means that at SSJ1 Gohan is already at a higher level than Goku
@@shlimey04this is.. canonically false. Grade 4 goku was outright weaker than gohan, we know this as even in the manga ssj gohan vs cell, Gohan was actually dominating cell, landing devastating blows. He just couldn’t bring himself to kill him.
Don't get why everyone is like "omg the choreography was amazing". How? It was literally just them swinging and the other person disappearing followed by your standard DBZ tropes of a blur of punches/kicks and then a Kamehameha. People suck off DBZ more than it's due in my opinion because to me it feels like there's no real choreography.
The fact they're so fast that you can see an afterimage and that's what they're hitting. I really wish the scale of these.... God's was really shown and explained.
@@FullOnMetalHead1995 yea time to after image 90 percent of the time than like 3 elbo blocks and a Legg sweep dodged lol I'd rather watch any naruto tigutsu fight and the goku vs jiren fights over this every day
There was passion in the artists back then. They wanted to accomplish something and make a mark in history. Today’s db artists are facing such a high bar coupled with deteriorating social and economic conditions, they just want to get the job done. 😢
they had no time back then either artists were just another level. Look at tadayoshi. Still making some of the best animations today artists these days just lazy lol
just because something is new doesn’t mean that it’s bad. goku vs cell was generational, but so was goku vs jiren. don’t sleep on either fight, they both were amazing
Best fight was actually goku vs Tien or goku vs piccolo in og dragon ball for me where it was still about martial arts and not super powered aliens Edit : goku vs Roshi was fire too 🔥 🔥
Goku vs Cell ( DBZ) had such great quality, animation, choteography, etc. Everything about it was just so good and it was an actual fight, with technique. Not just the characters punching and kicking really fast. Both fighters actively dodged and countered and countered that and dodged again. this Animation This fight is 27 years old which is really impressive
Back when fighters were actually as close to even as possible without crazy upgrades in power every couple minutes. When true power was hidden and not expected.
The fact that Goku's wearing an expression of anger that he almost never has just makes this whole fight more intense, with them both clenching their teeth and throwing everything they have into just landing a hit one each other.
Damn this fight looks more aggressive, coordinated and fluent than DBS(they're showing that they have fighting skills not just who has hardest punches and kicks)
@@Depressed_until_dead yeah i know, but the moments i listed still had some pretty good stuff. I feel super had better visuals while Z had better fights, but I'm a big fan of Vegeta who had so much good moments in Super so i might be biased
Well dont forget, ts is hand drawn, most of super and most modern animations are made in a computer. The effort behind a hand drawn anime is noticable and next level
Fun fact: SSJ2 Goku vs Kid Buu was filler. In the manga, goku went to SSJ3 straight away. This is why i recommend only watching two filler episodes; driving test episode, and SSJ2 goku vs Kid Buu.
the 90s and 80s is when everything was fresh. now everything is watered down. people think the past is outdated but it's the future that's watered down and fabricated
@@HollowNoFace As a 2002 kid with no nostalgia or emotional attachment for 80s and 90s stuff, I agree. I think late 80s to early 90s was the peak of a lot of things when it came to creative works. It was the perfect balance where technology made it possible for creative people to make what they truly imagined but it was still not easy enough for untalented people to fully master, so all the good shit from late 80s and early 90s are really good.
Please go look at Disney animation from the 40s and you’ll be even more impressed. Most animation techniques were developed and made during the 30s 40s and 50s. These have only been somewhat refined in more recent times
I love watching fights in anime where you can actually see them exchange blows with each other or with sword clashes they actually strike and not just a big lazy blur, yeah you could say “Oh it’s just cause their fast” but it’s honestly doesn’t bring as much emotion or thrill as a fight where you can see the fist and not just a line.
As the undisputed champion of the Budokai Tenkaichi series this was the greatest feeling I've ever had when someone could stand before me blow-for-blow and never give up. I'm so hype for the game.
When the hairflow was animated the good way 😅back in the days People were really active compared too the lazy animators of super TOP was good but i wanted whole super good animated
I wish they brought fights like this back, it really shows that goku doesn’t just beat opponents with pure strength, he’s a tactical and great combat genius.
