For those who want an explanation why Rin knows martial arts. The Tohsakas used to get all their income from various property they owned in Fukyuki city, but they gradually lost it over time and Kotomine Kirei as Rins legal guardian sold off all of it. Due to Rins magic specialty that relies on gemstones that are destroyed with use, her magic is almost ruinously expensive. In order to acquire enough money to pay for all these gems and her living expenses, Rin decides to make money in the professional wrestling scene. She fights matches under the name "The Fuyuki devil" and her costume matches the name., in order to win lots of money she needed to get really good so she could challenge the reigning international champion Luvia Edelfelt and acquire the lucrative advertising contracts. The title fights happens about 6 months before the events of Fate/Stay Night. Rin beats Luvia despite a rough start with a Show Stopping RKO. She made millions, but unfortunately lost quite a lot of it due to stealing Randy Ortons signature move. Looking forward to Heavens Feel movies for Sakura's story!!

It's not just that, the original Tohsaka specialty was magic-enhanced martial arts. They only switched to jewels after "stealing" an Edelfelt magic crest in the third grail war.

The only reason Gilgamesh didn't want to use Ea was because he didn't consider Shirou worthy of it. There was no danger to Gilgamesh if he had used it. And Gilgamesh admitted defeat to Shirou because he didn't consider surviving only because Shirou ran out of mana at the last possible second to be a victory for himself, if the grail/Archer hadn't happened, Gilgamesh would have been perfectly fine. Shinji apparently did get enough of a reality check to stop being utter trash and focus on what he is actually good at after UBW. Rin rejecting the clock tower to continue travelling with Shirou is what the version of her in Archer's past did not do.

welp Gilgamesh also didn't want to use all of his high ranking phantasms and used firstly low ranked like D and C phantasms. Gil has extremely high pride, beyond the limits of normal. He has the very strong ego and he will not use high ranked phantasms to the last on a human, also on a faker. And because of this Gil didn't fight seriously till the end where he nevertheless decided to use Ea on Shirou. Shirou was betting on his high ego and pride and was begging that Gil not to become serious because in this situation Shirou didn't have a chance to win

@@Serascale Shirou isn't counter guardian, he isn't even servant but human, it's Archer who is guardian, he also is Shirou from another timeline with his own past and death. And also summoning counter by world doesn't mean victory So well also world wouldn't summon guardian against servant, as they both are part of human order, so guardian being usual servant which was summoned not by world with its strengthening but by usual master through grail system won't have normal chances against Gilgamesh. Also Shirou had more chances to defeat Gil than Emiya Archer because of Gil's pride where he will take servant more seriously than human

@@Serascale nope, he just survived Gil's attack and hidden up thanks to his independent action. He wasn't resummoned, he waited to the final battle and helped with his left forces It also was confirmed by Nasu in official Fate/Complete material III

According to the UBW anime script and mentioned in the anime itself, Luvia helped Shirou and Rin get their apartments. In the script Luvia remembers her first meeting with Shirou. When he saved her from some assassins with Kanshou in one hand and a bag of groceries in the other.

Gil actually was being serious when he told Shirou that only the supreme ruler may whield that weapon and he judged Shirou as not being allowed to look upon it. There is no weakness to using Ea.

So here’s the thing fate stay night has multiple routes and stories relating to which character it focuses on unlimited blade works focuses on both rin and shirou as characters. The regular route focuses on shirou and saber relationship and the final heavens feel focuses on sakura and shirou so if you want to know more about her watch the movie’s and the plots completely different to this one.

About the attachment toward the characters of the show, yeah, that's it ❤. The story is deep, the characters are deep, it's all so well written. NASU's work is made to be rewatched ^^ . It's so mind blowing how we get a totally different experience depending of whether we know the deeper context or not. So FATE and UBW create a strong attachment towards all the characters. And we think by then we know ALL of them. The 3 rd route Heaven's Feel capitalise on this attachment as the story drowns in horror and madness. At some point, you may be interested in Kara no Kyoukai / The garden of sinners (the release order of the movie, it can be watched no matter your knowledge of NASUverse).

Archer is the guardian not ordinary hero. His vow is bounded with Araya(Earth). When Araya(Earth) found trouble against humanity like Terrorist, Tyranny and Catastrophe, Araya(Earth) will summon her Guardian that is Emiya,Archer to neutralize them and clean up the mess including the corrupted grail.

A note, is that Gilgamesh has approximately two treasures that he truly cares about in his collection. Ea, which is quite possibly the most powerful Noble Phantasm in the entire series, at the very least tied for first. The second, is Enkidu, the chains he used against Berserker. Amusingly, Ea is not considered the crowning jewel of his collection, Enkidu is, due to it being a tribute to his dearest and only friend, and they're the chains he used to bind the Divine. To Gilgamesh, only those he deems worthy have the right to even merely lay their eyes on Ea. To use it against someone he deems 'lesser' would tarnish both it and him, and THAT is why he does not just go around blowing literally everyone up with a sword that can quite LITERALLY blow apart a world. And yes, this includes Reality Marbles. He's arrogant and prideful to his core, and refuses to bend, for better or worse. He declared Shirou 'strong', and because he is Gilgamesh, what he declares, simply IS. But also, to put him IN such a bad position in the first place, Shirou HAD to be 'strong', as Gilgamesh cannot be taken down, or put in such a bad situation, by anyone who isn't 'strong'. That's how much his pride warps his viewpoint. As for why one might wonder why Shirou could so easily counter Gilgamesh, it's partially that arrogance, but also the fact that his Reality Marble has a 'faster' weapon summoning rate compared to Gilgamesh's Gates of Babylon. The instant he sees a weapon, it is where he wants it, doing what he wants, INSTANTLY. That plus his ability to technically copy the battle techniques the weapon has experienced, (though far from perfect copying), gives Shirou an edge at wielding whatever weapons he makes, giving him an advantage in close quarters. Still, though, Gilgamesh would have won had it kept going, and Shirou himself even will admit that (can't remember where that particular statement is from, unfortunately). Shirou can't do much if Gil truly went serious. And to point out something, Gilgamesh's Gates can't really run out. He, quite literally, has basically every single 'treasure' humanity has ever made and used. Excalibur and Avalon are exceptions, but otherwise? He has the sword that became Caliburn, in the end, for example, though it isn't 'Caliburn'. Plus, it doesn't help that he can literally retrieve any weapon he DOES shoot out with a whim.

Btw the only reason why Saber survived Tsubame Gaeshi was due to Luck+ Instint and the fact that Kojirou sword was bended when he purposely baited Saber to stop wasting time. A normal sword against Excalibur should be destroyed in 1-2 blows, but Kojiro skill was so great he managed to deflect Saber's blows without damaging his blade at all. If his blade is intact and using it in even ground Tsubame Gaeshi is asure kill, the only way to defeat it is to not let Kojiro use it in the first place Also the man with long hair that Shirou met in the hallway in London is Waver Velvet, the Master of Rider(Iskander) in the Forth Grail War aka Fate Zero

For the potential plot hole of Archer emiya showing up at the end, my head canon so far is that he isnt back as a servant, but as the counter guardian cause the world considered this a big enough threat and summoned him to save it.

The Abridged by Team Mouthwash is a good rewatch option. They have Archer self aware of the Fate Route (where Shirou and Saber end up together). The are currently up to the point right before Shirou and Archer.

I watch FSN 2006 and the only plot hole that other series dont explain i can remember is about the scabbard and why he was able to summond saber. Other than that i cant remember anything worthwhile to watch the show maybe beside the different fight

@@redeyesbb The problem is that stay night requires you to know all three routes to get the full experience or else ot feels lacking. Characters like artoria, gil, herc and kirei are fleshed amd given more characterization in the Fate route. Others like medea, emiya, rin and sasaki are explained in UBW. And Sakura, medusa, shinji, zouken and hassan who are more fleshed out in HF. Of course you can watch just one, but that straight up would ruin the experience and makes the story feel bland, especially if you are like these two here who are only waiting for the next fight to happen without paying any attention to most events.

Gil cant run out of weapons that way, because his Gate absorbs all launched weapons back in and repairs them if they're broken. What he cant do is summon 2 of the same weapon, with very few exceptions, because for most items his Gate contains only 1. Gil also has a "Prototype" of every single weapon or other item that existed after his time simply because his legend stated that "he collected every treasure in the world". These "Prototypes" are stronger than the original versions. This means that if he fought any servant that existed after his time, he could literally pull out a better version of their Noble Phantasm and probably win. The only exceptions are Phantasms that are a part of the servant (for example Heracles' resurrection and toughness, Shirou's/Archer's UBW Reality Marble and etc.) or Divine Constructs such as Excalibur or Gil's own Ea.

Generally all fate routes have couple endings for example UBW have 2 one shown here and the other in ova sunny day that you can watch its pretty cool then most people recommend you to watch heaven's feel which is fine its rly good but after you can watch the saber route the original fate/stay night not the best quality but its still worth to watch and with these you will be done with main series bcs you already watched zero then you can go with whatever but i would advice watching grand order or playing it last bcs there are all servants so you will get spoiler on who they are for the other shows and yeah the guy in 25 that talked with shirou was waver from fate/zero and he have his own anime too

I have no idea why Archer 'survived' being killed by Gilgamesh -- but it's my personal theory that since Archer is a guardian, he actually did die but at that moment he was summoned back to that moment as a guardian to assist in destroying the grail. Could be wrong, but that's the why I like to look at it since it's never really explained

Might be best to do that while the references are fresh in your mind. Although it's not complete yet, so maybe just watch it of camera for the laughs.

From what i understood you guys have watched Fate zero a while ago and now this one. It s pretty normal for you to not get some stuff cause the way it s supposed to be watched is [Saber route]Fate stay/night (2006) > [Rin route]Fate UBW > [Sakura route]Fate HF > Fate Zero The 2006 anime is considered a really bad adaptation, but it will still give you a way better understanding of things before getting into the following routes

Not really. The movies butchered the story of heaven's feel. So far the only Fate anime that actually kept some of its plot and characters is Fate/Zero.

The thing is you forgot a lot of things from fate zero and therefore were lacking any kind of investment. So it is natural that you wouldn't appreciate ubw. The dialogue was also a huge part of the show and u failed to pay attention to most of it so there was obviously a lack of understanding in many aspects. If you watch Fate while just waiting for the next fight and good animation then you obviously wouldn't enjoy the show. The characters themselves were lacking in this route specifically so without the fate route they will feel bland since their only redeeming quality outside of the main characters is having a badass death. Overall UBW is one of my least favorite fate series so I think it's not that weird that you guys thought it was lacking.

Ngl i wonder why ppl keep telling others to skip 2006 stay/night. Not everyone can/want to read the VN. I m glad i didn t listen and watched the 1st fate before UBW, i doubt i would have understood half of it had i not. Personally i like UBW but thats only cause i consider all the routes as a whole story.

It was explicitly stated in the VN that the assassin's sword was bent when Saber first fought him. During the rematch, Saber used the opening caused by the bent sword to dodge his Nobel phantasm.
