Thank you sam and kev for your great videos, the engines are down close to point 2 on your map near the bushline, they are beautiful radial wasp motors with the HT leads still visible and spark plugs in the heads.

Thanks Stringy. We're gutted we missed the engines. Will have to track them down next time.

Fascinating video and now a good resource for those wanting to visit. Another area on the list but I didn't know about the crash. Thanks guys

Thanks, ReviloNZ. Hopefully, the coordinates help people wishing to either view the crash site or visit the memorial. We certainly could have done with them before we left.

Another successful trip. The Nelson Tramping Club and the NZ Air Force did a great job in relocating the Mt Fell Hut in 2016. It had previously been on a huge slip site and in danger of sliding down the mountain. It's good to have those coordinates before getting to the hut. It's a fun time heading up there from the Nelson direction. Gotta love that Chain section.

Was the previous hut site where you walked past to head up to the Mount Fell Ridge? The Nelson Tramping Club and NZ Airforce certainly did do a great job moving the hut. Hopefully, the coordinates help anyone else who wishes to head up there. We had some, but they were nowhere near the actual wreckage, hence the large search on day one. This also meant we missed the chain ladder, so we will have to add that to the list for next time.

Great Vid. Tramped a lot around here when I was a young lad - Mt Fell hut. Mt Richmond etc, but never visited the crash site. Thanks for the tour.

Thanks, Rob. We were going to include Mount Richmond as part of a loop, but unfortunately, the roads were shut due to forestry activity, so we had to settle for an in and out trip on the same trail.

Really good quality video. Interesting to see what is left of the aircraft by comparison with Kaimai’s DC-3.

Thanks, Robin. I've seen a few videos of the Kaimai's DC3 crash. Although the Kereru was 20 years earlier that it was above the bush line has probably meant there has been a lot less lichen/moss growing over the wreckage remains.

It was similar country in which a friend of our extended family was lost in 2004 in a helicopter in Fiordland. Not found until 2012. But ZK-HNW was painted green. So close to the Routeburn trail. In country just above the bush line like this one. That triggered a search for my parents old 1962 film of the Dragonfly pilot Brian Chadwick who with 4 passengers disappeared a few days later in the same area. Still not found today. In turn, that has triggered my own attempt at writing about Chadwick, posting the old 8mm scanned film on RU-vid which opened the door to me to so much information on other linked accidents, including the Erebus tragedy. Considerable help has been given by Rev Dr Richard Waugh and his friends. Hopefully a book will shortly emerge showing how so many air accidents are linked and how the truth is gradually emerging about Erebus and the accident investigations and inquiries.

Thanks, Zack. There are some great traps down your way we would be keen to do one day. Just need to get ourselves a bit more organized.
