This whole record is very measured and deliberate. No rushing whatsoever ever. For me, perfection. It actually makes all the rest of the records great.
I am noticing a theme with the first track of each album. The Night Does Not Belong to God: "Give me the night." Atlantic: "Flood me like Atlantic...anything to get me to sleep...Don't wake me up." Chokehold: "Even if I can't sleep, show me the way (outbreath indicating forcible incapacitation, the chokehold)" They all begin with the entrance into Sleep.
What a way to start an album is an understatement. This was the first single, and they dropped it out of no where. Holy crap, this got them so much attention, and then they drop the summoning the next day and blew the whole world away. What a crazy time it was.
I remember your first ever reaction for sleep token popping up on my recommended page. I watched the whole thing and I was like yup, he’s hooked. I think my favorite thing so far from watching you is that when the euphoric parts of the songs happen, you forget you’re on camera and you’re just in it. You’re one of us 🤘
I love it when those parts happen because it is one of the few times that the camera doesn't psyche me out because i'm lost in the music 😂 I hope you have enjoyed the ride!
Here we go! Been looking forward to this since you started your journey! Strap in as this album contains everything that makes Sleep Token great. I'm so glad you have not made us wait, but have gone straight into it. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
I try not to get too negative here usually but I will make an exception for awards shows. They are all politically-driven bullshit 😂 Don't get me wrong, ST deserve all the awards. I just don't think they will get them because the deserving bands in these genres usually don't.
@@BraindeadBreakdown I tend to agree, and they don’t strike me as a group that would ‘pay’ for the honor of being ‘recognized’. Once upon a time, a Grammy for AOTY meant something… now, it just tends to show who has the label with the deepest pockets.
I've listened to TMBTE album like ... I don't know ... 20 times? And each time I'm excited again and again. So yeah, excited 😁 And indeed, it is poetry. Some so immense deep and some like a linguistic puzzle (especially when, like me, English is not your native language)
@@ChadTheGirlDadi think its all about his ex. All of it. (With few exeptions like Are You Really Okay) He made up deity named Sleep as a reference to his toxic relationship and he talks to her (Sleep) about how he feels about it all.
Happy travels! By the way... The first line "When we were made it was no accident" comes back at the end of Take Me Back to Eden, right before the last breakdown 🤘🏻 (just started the video so maybe you already said something about it 😁)
I am so insanely excited for this journey for you!!!! The smile you get when the music takes a turn always makes me smile, like when I ‘voluntell’ my friends to check them out… I only lightly regret being an annoying little shite about the lyrics. Only lightly. 🤣 As a singer… the note hold at the end… I immediately fell in love with his vocal abilities. And yes- he holds it that long live, as well. I think to get the full impact of being short of breath at the end… for the choking. #VocalMasterclass Welcome to the full scope of worship, friend!
Quite a lot of the songs make me smile, I can't help it. Well crafted music makes me happy 😂 I am looking forward to seeing a live version of this song particularly for the note 😊 I recommend checking out my video about the Will Ramos cover (even if you don't watch the actual video, there is a bit where I talk about the note)
I feel like reading the lyrics sort of gave you an idea as to why we’ve been such nagging shits about it 😂 Vessel has a way with words AND sounds. He may be (in his own words) “no god,” but he’s managed to bring quite a lot of people to worship. And since you admit you’ve only listened to a lot of the songs just once, I am once again being a pain in your ass and encouraging you to listen to the albums as wholes, even if you only do one album in a sitting. It all comes into play at the end. And it’s even worth re-listening to TMBTE because it pulls from elsewhere. And a fun little Easter Egg: at the beginning of this song, if you listen closely, you can hear the birds from the beginning of TMBTE ☺️
@@BraindeadBreakdown Awesome, now hopefully I will remember that you told me that and I won’t come back in two days like BrAiNdEaD yOu NeEd To LiStEn To ThE aLbUmS sTrAiGhT tHrOuGh BeFoRe EuCLiD because I forgot 🤣
Here we go! I think once you get a handful of songs into the album, you might find that this song perfectly sets the table. It's nothing flashy and it doesn't have a bunch of changes, but man, the tension from that synth puts me exactly in the right frame of mind for this album.
@@BraindeadBreakdownNOW you know why the Summoning was my favorite (my first song by them). I'm sorta like you in that I enjoy the music first, the heavy guitars and drums, then There's his voice, man what a voice, AND THEENNN learn all the lyrics to the song and start scrounging for all their stuff. Yeah, I fell headfirst down the 🕳️ 😂😂😂.....great reaction man! I'm stoked for this album 🤘🫶✌️ ❤W O R S H I P❤
I finally get to watch this! I just drove a 310 mile round trip to take my mom to her specialist doctor. "Eloquent pain" is exactly right. I'm glad you looked at the lyrics, but I do enjoy your musical analysis as well. 😊
Im so glad we are here! I am in love with this album. The Summoning hooked me, and then i downloaded the entire album and was blown away. RAIN quickly became my second most played song by them, then Ascensionism.....my bday is May 19, so it dropped and made it a great birthday. My daughter knew i would like them....i taught her well 😂😂 Your right about the boxing analogy 😂😂 just when you think you know what to expect they still surprise you 😂🤘😋 Vessel is definitely stupid good! Phenomenal! And then the lyrics.....yesssss, it's poetry, but the flow of not just words, but metaphors that ebb and flow like the music. Once you learn the lyrics with the song that's when you go from "liking" them to WORSHIP! The intensity of Vessel's play, or musical if you will, culminated in the third album of greatness. A culmination of Worship ❤️🤘😂
The Summoning seems to be the song that hooked a lot of people! 🙂 It is always good when stuff like that happens on your birthday. Unfortunately my only example of that is negative, Gary Moore passed away on my birthday. That was a bummer! I think you all underestimate how little I value lyrics compared to the music 😂 that isn't an insult to ST, it is just the reality of how my brain works 😂😂 there will be phrases that resonate with me and get the emotions moving but I find it difficult to stick with them for a prolonged amount of time (with any song)
@@BraindeadBreakdown no, not by any means. I get what you're saying. It's just that the more you listen to the music the more even the lyrics get stuck in your head, especially the catchy parts 😂 Vessel is as phenomenal with lyrics as he is with music
Another great reaction 🖤 Can’t wait for “ rain “ and “ Euclid “ . Will Ramos covers this song and it’s amazing… a great tribute to his favourite band (ST ).
Man imagine going for a year with no sleep token news or updates - then this song just drops out of nowhere on the first full moon of 2023. This was magical to experience!
So soon after TPWBYT I think TMBTE is going to hit really hard after the last album. It has such a measured and deliberate pace that moves all over to tell its story and the change ups. Im curious since you made the movie analogy with TPWBYT if you will see how much they really settled into that structure with this album. Awesome reaction! Another great one from you!! So many nods to the previous albums in this one too. HYPE!!
I am doing an ST video a day until the end of TMBTE and I made a promise to keep that schedule 😊 Such a great album starter, I am sure I will pick up on the easter eggs as I listen more and they settle in 😊
Man... the next song summoned the masses that now worship Sleep alongside us early apostles. PS: The lyrics are mostly because of callbacks. I'll throw you a bone with this one that not everyone seemed to immediately pick up, though it jumped at me at first listen. "We were tangled up like branches in a flood" - Chokehold "The whites of your eyes Turn black in the lowlight in turning divine We tangle endlessly like lovers entwined" - The Night Does Not Belong To God
I hear Ya 👂🎶 if just picking out the music can make your priceless reactions & create such emotion within then that's a big accolade to Sleep Token 🖤 Don't go disturbing those Jamming ears love hearing you play
This record definitely holds the most meaning to me. If you haven’t bumped Euclid yet, good luck. That one continues to bring me to tears, 100 listens in.
I have heard Polyphia before and I am also aware how defensive their fan base tends to be. I am honestly a bit scared to tackle their work. Whilst I can really appreciate the technical skill behind their work, I have not heard a song by them that appeals to me yet 😬
