I think it might even be worse there. Your cars seem to rot faster than ours. Luckily we don’t have state inspections yet or this one would have been junked for the rockers.

@@vehcor Eric O recently said they spray that stuff year-round. Apparently it's sprayed on the gravel roads for dust control. That explains why in his part of the world your red winter car would have been living at Wilberts long ago.

@vehcor I'd think IL would have inspections. Most shops only get their inspection license here to try to drum up business. If there's an engine light on, it's an automatic fail. The "safety" part of it is rather subjective. My 03 Tahoe with the natural rocker delete and swiss cheese frame passed. Go figure.

@@robm3063 I didn't even catch that they are spraying it year round, that makes sense why most of his vehicles are only lasting 5 years LOL. Cars seem to last a little longer then you guys (I'm over here in western PA) but still get rusted fast with the salt. But no where near as fast as you guys it seems.

Could be the more aggressive magnesium chloride they are using.

It is all in how you take care of them. They have their little annoying problems but they are cheap to fix!

It would be almost impossible to find an 02 Intrepid up here. Old cars don’t last, that is why it is hard to find a reliable car that is also cheap.

Flat out he might be able to out run me. In traffic he had no chance. I have been driving cars like I’m in a race, twice as long as he has been alive! 😂 He was using the shoulder and still couldn’t get away with me staying in the lanes. He messed up and tried to lose me with a last minute exit but I saw it coming and got in front of him.

I am not picky, I’ll drive anything!

So many people claimed these were junk from day one! Aside from the salt and sun damage, this one was in good shape and a perfect pick for this use.

I used to sell a beater to a guy every year in the fall so he could park his T/A. He would sell the beater in the spring/summer and be back for another the following fall. That went on for about 10 years.

That was the main reason for the new radio! 😂

She actually drove the afternoon crew’s tC for a good part of the winter to keep the RDX out of the salt.

This one gets 30+ on the highway and is a pretty comfy ride. I don’t think the body will last 5 years but that won’t stop me from trying!

@@vehcor w call it bangernomics here, but cheap cars are getting thin on the ground. Our scrap page scheme a few years ago took thousands of decent condition older cars out of the system, most of the cars sold under the scheme are already Beko fridges! A false economy and worse for the environment too. You ran that car for about 3 months finance payments on a bit of new plasticrap.

As long as it isn’t driven on the beach, cars last forever down there. The paint might fade and plastic might crack but that won’t keep them from running!

Yes, the idea being that if a temperature drop happens, the wet roads don’t freeze over. It never dropped below 35° on the coldest day before it started snowing but they salted almost every night.
