In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, we bring back Mike Yoder of Drone Deer Recovery to talk about the recent blow up of his business. Mike started Drone Deer Recovery just over a year ago, and has been expanding like crazy. What started as a brilliant idea has turned into a very successful venture, and one that will not only change the future of deer recovery, but also change the ways of farming and agriculture. Mike shares his experience during deer season, realizing just how many hunters benefit from a service like this. While changing the future of hunting and agriculture can be exciting, mike also discusses the hoops and boundaries that come with it. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show with Mike Yoder!

Before this video starts i don’t believe drones should EVER be involved in deer hunting. I believe it’s more up to the hunter to practice with there weapon of choice. Practice woodsmanship. In my opinion it will be a terrible idea to bring a thermal drone into hunting. But we’ll see what this videos about maybe it will sway my opinion or agree with my standpoint

Anytime new technology is introduced into the "hunting: industry, it never benefits the resource. There are so many ways for these drones to be misused.

Great show guys! I think that Mike makes a very valid point about drones in Ag. Living in the Lancaster Co. area of PA I see a potential for that to be a service that people would like. Being a drone pilot myself I have reached out to him to look into what it would take to be able to offer that service here in PA. Thank you for having him on!

I do hope you guys are using a sticking agent with your herbicide , Jared , lol you are asking about why to use water as the carrier, you can’t use straight herbicide unless you want to use syrup as your main ingredient and have and have a sterilization of your plot for the year or more

The last 5minutes of this podcast where the discussion centers on ‘would drone recovery actually Reduce the total number of bucks killed in a season’ needs more attention. People mortally wound deer, don’t find them, then go kill another…and that doesn’t get reported.

You guys need to try those set screws, awesome feature! First time i didn't have to make a micro adjustment when going from field points to broadheads. As far as the drone regulations go, I think if you use a drone to locate a deer there should be a 24hr rule that you can't sit for him till that time is up. Kind of like the Alaska rule of can't fly and hunt the same day.

Listening to this podcast I'm kind of all four drone recovery but all this technology is getting a little too ridiculous I wish to get rid of it all go back to the basics or get rid of trail cams especially in season just think what the future is going to look like now go get that big Buck good luck!

Too many ethical issues to support the use of drones. Definitely do not want people flying them over my property. Jeremy, do you really think so poorly of the hunting community that 90% of hunters will give up on deer if they don't find blood near impact? I couldn't imagine one of my friends doing this.

How many manufactures would pay top dollar for the data Mike is talking about? Weapon type, broadhead type, hit location, recovery percentages. I would imagine companies would want to buy that information to minimize its influence on the industry. Product manufactures only give you the positives and best case hypothetical statistics to sell their equipment. Talk about playing with a hand gernade! :)

Sounds like you’re finding mostly wounded deer at the end of the day. What happens next is the problem I have with it. I would bet money most deer would survive the hit at that point the drones called in. Honestly the right thing to do is let the deer go and not get another arrow in it because it’s suffering. Deer are tough as hell you made a bad shot learn how to track deer without technology live with the guilt of losing a deer so you don’t do it again.

the drone thing is to keep it legit. and ethical. the drone flyer has to be registered and licensed. so only they can use and have rules to follow. if deer still alive can only monitor to see if it expires. but

It all comes down to what your moral standards are and that is why drone deer recovery comes in and tells you where it is and leaves then you need to decide what is legal

I believe drones should be used for recovery of deer for a couple of reasons, with some stipulations involved. We as hunters should do everything in our power to recover or locate a potentially wounded animal. That reason alone should trump all reasons why not to use it. Now, would i call one in? Probably not unless its a top 10 state record or something. The other reason i believe it should be legal to do is because if we are going to allow for a camera that will instantly send you a picture on your phone, then this is no different . An important stipulation or law that should be in place is that if a drone is flown on the property for any reason, no hunting activity can occur until 12 hours later unless a deceased animal is found. In which case it wouldn't be hunting but recovering.

I was in the woods last week and had a drone fly right over me. Talked to the neighbor later that day and some hunters were looking for a buck they shot. They found it on another neighbors property. That neighbor would not allow the hunters to seal the deal on the injured buck… talk about another angle of this moral argument…
@anthonyforfare7223
@anthonyforfare7223 10 месяцев назад
Sorry for the question,but how does that make it a moral argument? If they couldn’t access the property,wouldn’t it be better to not know? I’m personally not against technology for recoveries and studies in off season. 👍😁🏹 🦌

Personally I don't shoot the shoulder. So I 95% agree with you here. I'm not going to say there are no setups that have that capability, but the margin for error is too great for me. For me it's not a question of equipment capability. It's the human factor that keeps me shooting thru the ribcage. Shoulder shots are for firearms, not archery. Just my opinion.
