Daisy (Sophie McShera) is put through her paces as the household staff prepares for a big day at Downton Abbey.
From Season 1, Episode 1: The sinking of the Titanic leaves Downton Abbey’s future in jeopardy. However, the eldest daughter, Lady Mary is quick to put her intended marriage behind her and move on. The arrival of the new valet, Mr Bates, shocks the servants and O’Brien and Thomas Barrow scheme to make his stay at Downton as short-lived as possible.

Well. There it is. Ten minutes. That’s all it takes. I’m drawn in to another binge watching of this gorgeous story. The music, these characters, the setting, the scenery. I can’t believe how comforting just ten minutes felt. I must return to Downton. Right away:)

Damn the first shot of Robert is so beautiful and strong!His slow pace going down the stairs with the dog by his side! You immediately understand that he is the head of the house! Brilliant film-making!

It's truly wonderful. The first 10 minutes show how the house (Downton Abbey) is truly the show's main character. The estate is what ties all these characters we're meeting together. It is wonderful to see how the servants basically acted like the shoemaker's elves. Working for many hours to prepare the house and disappear when the inhabitants woke up.

I remember watching this and thinking that I've never watched a serie so captivating. After many seasons, almost a second movie out and visiting Highclere myself, I was right.

Please make 20 more seasons of Downton Abbey. With 20 episodes each. And One christmas special episode. We still love Downton Abbey. And can't get over it. You can travel back in time(figuretively speaking) too. Just keep it looking the way it looks.

Amazing first 10 minutes, how everything change since the beginning but Mrs Patmore remain the same ❤❤❤❤ I miss Gwen, William. The evolution of Barrow from a footman to the Butler and Anna from a made to a Lady's maid. Mrs Hughes was the best ❤❤❤. The fashion so different to. One of the greatest shows ever

Thank you for these wonderful (but harrowing) first ten minutes. I had forgotten them by now and seeing them made me admire the author's great skill in getting us, the viewers, to see and become involved with the brilliant cast of characters in only 10 minutes....from cleaning the rooms and laying the fires, preparing the food and discussing the papers we mount from the lowliest "skivvy" to the lady of the manor and the harrowing news that will bring change to this majestic home and everyone in it.

It's such a brilliant opening, and rewatching it now makes me realise how the movie's opening is mirrored in the first 2 minutes of this episode. The important message being delivered to the Abbey, a mysterious man arriving to Downton via train, and the music swelling as the Abbey is shown in full for the first time. Love it! Also, I'm super excited to see you posting here again and I hope you will continue to do so all the way up until the movie :)

Waiting for next season! Beware of the fact that we expect more of the Same excellents that made the beginning series the best! It’s gonna be hard to beat! But I’m there with you!
