Kenyatta Snr had a chance to take this country into another level if he wasn't greedy. This is why I salute Kibaki, he took this country when it was in ICU, he himself was recovering from a very bad accident, he was aged and he battle out within a short time to transform the lives of Kenyans with honesty and high integrity. Uhuru took over from him when economy was stable, Uhuru was in young and in good health but he decided to get busy consolidating his family's wealth, Ruto also is young and vibrant and very smart but he decided to play dummy just to exploit the same hustlers who put him in power. I hope 2027 Kenya will learn to choose a good leader. 2027 Ruto should forgot my vote. If he grew ego in his 1st term where will ego reached if he secured his 2nd term?

Our forefathers really trusted Jomo Kenyatta. They took him as their savior. But unfortunately, Jomo took advantage of that. He took their land. He died and left them poor. All he left us...Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta Avenue, Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Kenyata Stadium, Mama Ngina Street, Jomo Kenyatta Stadium...et cetera. Not a corridor named after the rest Kapenguria 5. Kung'u Karumba, Achieng' Aneko, Fred Kubai, Bildad Kaggia and Paul Ngei. GREAT LEGACY!

In all fairness Kenyatta held a country amalgamated by the British despite our tribal and cultural differences. Also he was from the Era where tribal identity superceded Nationale identity all countries in East Africa save for kenya and Tz suffered war, kenyan Economy also grew at an average of 6% which is impressive and was compared to the Asian tigers. The biggest genius of mzee was in 1977 during the commodities boom where he made sure all the East African corporations were in kenya, including East African railways, airlines, industries, and breweries. That was a genius move. His biggest undoing was nepotism, land grabbing and land relocation issues. Corruption was extremely little in the 60s and 70s.

Wacha zako. When a tribalistic leader gets to power his might is felt on the ground within the tribe. Better roads, water projects, electricity, more government jobs and each person invests in the village thus increasing the value of land.Govt loans are written off more frequently, etc

@mightlybeloved6763 Год назад
@@georgeodhiambo598 Where did this happen and when?. This is is the way to destroy the economy of a country forever. I fear people with such a mentality coming to power. There is nothing for free and banks are in business and must get back their money. Kenya won't be among ten biggest economies in Africa if we did such a thing.

Put aside the revisionist narrative,he went to Europe to petition the British government on behalf of the Africans who fundraised for him and stayed true to mission . it's during his' second stint in Europe he came to know the likes of kwameh krumah, dubois ,Hailesilasi et Al who all shared the same aspiration of liberating Africa so it's a fallacy to try to change that part of his life.He did betray his people but that was just before ascending to power which is a subject for another day.

I think everyone should watch this and remember when it didn't matter the tribe or where you were from. They joined a common struggle and in whichever way, won. We can make fun of how much your tribe defines you but the love, the togetherness, the fight against poverty is on. Would you rather be a starving*insert tribe* or be a Kenyan that can put food on the table... We need a to rethink ideologies, approach to politics and governance and perhaps one day, we'll make those can came before us proud.

He was truly the genesis of "independent" Kenya's problems. Tribalist, corrupt and divisive! He laid a bad foundation which we continue to struggle to overhaul. Worst thing was his son Uhuru had the opportunity to chart a different path being the first president elected under the 2010 constitution but instead chose to follow his father's path which was a path of ruin and we see today the fruit of it all.

The real instigators of tribalism are the colonialists and their cohorts in kadu which was formed primarily to counter KANU and nothing else. Looking back you'll understand that all Kadu members were financed by the colonist and history will bear me true these are the people who drove our country to where it is today by preaching tribalism disguised as majimboism.

Robert Gaciiyia (Meru) To my opinion, Jaramogi Odinga was a very wise of Mzee Kenyatta's calibre; he weighed out the weight between the Kikuyus & other Mt. Kenya tribes who had partipated in Mau Mau struggle fighters & realized that as a result of that, couldn't no peace. It could result to un_endless war. Jaramogi was simply a"Peace Maker".

Jaramogi seemed to have feared the Kikuyu, and especially the Mau Mau. Apparently, he hadn't figured out what to do with them, and possible backlash, if he took power with Kenyatta still in jail. I think his fears were unfounded. That situation, if it came to pass, could have still been negotiated skillfully.

Objectively Jomo kenyatta was a genius. After independence something ave from old men who are not bitter people were given land in new areas even around nairobi the ku areas embakassi areas som many lands but people refused coz it was dry so the went back to ancestrall land .Kenyatta being travelled and well learned he knew the benefit of land and he had means to acquire it .Even in lamu coastal people were given land said they couldn't farm that saw kenyatta ferry kikuyus to Lamu .At the time of his death kenyas economy and gdp was doing well .and everyone complains of things being named after him his the Abraham linclon to us and atleast he left things built so he worked .He may have his flaws in dealing with his rivals but how many countries fell in disarray coz of power struggles its good he was firm coz till now peace would be an ellusion to kenya look at any country back then that a leader was overthrown we would be in the congo or uganda back then or rwanda genocide days

Tribe comes to play because some Tribes collaborated with the Colonizers. So it makes sense why protecting the once who were resisting was much more important. Otherwise, our independence would have been delayed and sadly turned out to be like South Africa. Kenyatta was a sharp man and that is what he was trying to avoid. Remember the two men who captured Dedan Kimathii were of the same tribe. And of course, the Business minded Mt. Kenya community benefited from this regime because they choose to protect their wealth by resisting their tribes selling out their wealth to the Colonializes. We need to read history as we were there not from a place of what would have been done. Because at that time things were already tough.

Are you referring to people who worked for the British government in Kenya 'tribal collaborators'?? Those were their jobs. Just like people who went to the World War for their various colonial European countries. Read history in its proper context. Kenyatta was a traitor in many ways, post independence even to his own Kikuyu tribe. Even naming himself after the country, after stealing all the prime land. His name is Johnstone Kamau Muigai. I think the Kenyatta family even owns the what the Delamares left behind (I am talking in the 2000s) How much can one family have? He set the tone for many problems that linger on e.g. land grabbing, tribalism etc.
