The smile you had when you let the clutch out for the first time was priceless. Great parents build great kids i've followed you since the tank not missed a single video i have no doubt you are destined to do great things
Yeah, it's an amazing family. My parents didn't do anything with me, and I think that's why I'm lacking in so many areas. This kid is going to change the world.
OMG! After all the ups and downs here you are victorious! It’s such a cool project and you should be so proud of yourself. Kudos to Dad for his help and support! 👍🏼
This is one of the most genuine channels on RU-vid. Glad you got it running before you step into the next phase of your life. Best of luck in your carrier.
I’m watching this again. I have had a dream of building my own car from scratch ever since I can remember. You have achieved what I could only dream of. Having the skill and opportunity is no small feat. I felt a certain vicarious thrill watching each and every episode multiple times. Your parents should be immensely proud.
Yes!! Your smile was well deserved! Your mum and dad seemed so proud! My wife asked me why are you grinning like a Cheshire cat? I said I can't help it I feel elated ! I too am proud to see this milestone! Thanks
Not many people of any age can say they built their own car, much less people as young as you! Amazing work all the way through! I hope your new job is as interesting and challenging to you as this build was, because it would be a shame for any company to waste the brains and skills you have! Thanks for bringing us along!
I've followed you since the start of this project. Being of a similar vintage to your father, I can feel the pride , and as you are a similar age to my own son, I can sense the feeling of achievement; I also appreciate the contribution of your mother! As a Morgan driver, it was such a joy to see this work of art drive under its own steam. Good luck with your career, we'll wait with bated breath for further updates. Greetings from a fan in the UK
Your joy and your parents’ seeing you drive your creation for the first time - what a wonderful achievement and a moment we’re all so glad and proud to witness. From thinking we may never see the car completed when you went off to SpaceX , to watching you drive around with that huge grin on your face, just awesome man, CONGRATULATIONS and thank you !!
Thanks to algorithms I landed here, BIG thumbs up. Now I'll work my way to the beginning of this project, Take good care of yourself, by the way you have a seriously nice Fishtail.
The day you'll drive it on the road, don't forget to wear gogles if you want to to drive more than 25mph. Because those Brookland style "windshield" ain't gonna shield from the wind. Talking from experience right here. I'm super happy for you to finally drive it.
You're lucky to have a Dad like that with such a great shop and knowledge. Car looks good, seams in the Boat tail came out nice, proportions are right. Seat to dash looks a little tight. I added 8" to seat area at the bottom of the scuttle and boat tail. Ground clearance can be adjusted by raising the hairpins in the front and steering control. Suspension works! Gives you renewed energy when you take it for a spin! Engine turned dash? Cowhide seat? Knock-offs? Dash mag? Make sure you visit Mullins and the Peterson since you're in California, I did while I was building mine.
i'm very late to comment, but need to say it. Not sure if you understand the significance of what happens at 6:34, but it's probably the closest thing to the meaning of life. You and your dad both nod in acknowledgement (together) when the engine does exactly what you thought it would. It's confirming, affirming, and because you both share it, endearing. Congrats man; this was such a special moment for a lot of reasons!
You have a gift and have chosen the right vocation. Your new employer is fortunate to have. I am 80 years old and have watched this complete build in awe.
Massive respect! This has been a courageous project from day 1 and most of the build would have foxed seasoned professionals let alone a high-school graduate. You've been willing to push the envelope at every stage of the build. It's always a pleasure to watch people travel outside their comfort zone when it comes to skill acquisition and thinking laterally regarding problem solving. I'm sure many on here would join me in wishing you every success in your future endeavours. As someone who began a vintage car restoration at 18 and had to abandon it due to a lack of resources and build-space, I've been watching your project with mounting envy and excitement. Kudos!
What a beauty of a machine. Really worth the journey. I would say I can't wait to see it finished but having even more episodes to watch isn't a punishment ;). Awesome job man.
BIG Kudos!!! Life is a Journey, Enjoy the Ride! Thanks for taking us along for the ride on this part of the journey!... Seeing your smile is worth the price of admission to the "Club of Accomplishment"!👍. Can't wait for parts # 61+. 😁 Kudos Young Man, Kudos!!
Complimenti , sei un ragazzo D'oro. E D'oro sono quelle 2 belle persone che ti hanno cresciuto ed Educato (mamma e papà). Che Dio sia con voi e con il vostro amore. Vi saluto Andrea, Roma, Italy
That ear to ear grin on your face and your dads proud chuckle when you drove it the first time…that’s what it’s all about. Awesome stuff man, awesome stuff.
There’s nobody like dad. I am an older man now but I remember my dad he was also a machinist before the days of computers. He worked for Eagle electric manufacturing company Long Island city New York for 40 years, I think the silver cup movie studios are there now. I was always close with my dad working with him pretty much the way you do ❤️🔥God bless you sir❤️🔥 ✨Good luck always.
I’m not sure what I enjoyed the most your smile or your dads laugh..😂🤣👍🏻.fantastic work I’ll wait another 4/5,6years until you finish it…👍🏻😂🤣🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
A great project you started as a boy and are completing as a man, Beautiful craftmanship throughout the build. I hope nothing but the best for you in your career. A big thank you to your parents for there obvious love and support. I would recommend you to get a leather helmet and goggles to complete the look. PS I'm envious your first experience driving a standard was a boat-tail speedster where mine was a 72 Datsun truck.
I’ve been watching you since you built the tank and have always admired your abilities especially at such a young age. Your skill and craftsmanship is second to none. This was a great episode and I’ve been anticipating it for years now. I don’t know you personally but proud of you for accomplishing driving it and it looks amazing. Not many people can take nothing a build something like a car from it. When you first smiled driving it reminded me of my youth with my father first driving and wrenching with him. Awesome video and congratulations all around.
As the Brits are want to say: Well Done Laddy Well Done. A shout out to your proud parents as well. You raised a wonderful son and he will carry your love and devotion along his journey! Godspeed
Thank You for sharing this occasion whit us viewers! I also share your fondness of old racers, an integral part of my hot rodding values. It's been a pleasure following your build.
I can't believe it has been 4 years from the very start of the project. It has been amazing to see you build the car from the ground up. Looking forward to the forth coming videos and the finished car when ever that will be.
Mate , I know there were times during this build that you wanted to smash it to bits , set fire too it and walk away. The fact that you haven't is one of the most impressive things about it. I take my hat off to some serious dedication and a super cool build.
That smile!! Thank you for sharing al of this with us. Congratulations on a job VERY well done. Perhaps when you get it all finished you can show it off on Jay Leno's Garage. He would no doubt have you on.
I remember when you made that four wheel motorcycle with the valve cover gas tank. You've come a long way. I like the car. Not my style but it keeps getting prettier the longer i look at it. Good fortune to you, continued success and thanks for sharing!😃
You should be rightly proud of what you've achieved here, but I can only imagine how your dad feels - "proud" probably doesn't even scratch the surface. So great to see the car moving under its own power at last!
Fantastic! For years I've fantasised about building a sports car around an XK engine. And there, you've gone and done it! The XK is, in my opinion, the best engine in the world, perhaps with the exception of the RR Merlin. Good work lad. Cheers.
That car is beautiful. The lines are so graceful and fast. Kudos to your mom for stepping up. I’m not surprised. You are obviously a product of sound parenting. Congrats on getting that beauty rolling!
I’ve been watching from the start of this project and went back to see your other work. The smile on your face when you first let out the clutch and started driving was clearly one of great accomplishment! Great job!
Thank you for your ongoing gift to all makers, all lovers of things internal combustion, those who appreciate the curvaceousness of cars between the world wars, all kids, and anyone who likes the feel of a tool in her or his hand and the puzzlement of anything mechanical. We all appreciate you beyond measure.
Wooooooooow!!! I am at a loss for words right now! The smile on all of y’all’s faces says it all💪🏼❤️🙏🏻👏🏼🎉🎉🎉🤣 Congratulations to all of your amazing family support and accomplishments,Sir! I have watched your build from the beginning and all I can say is WOW!!!
I have been watching this build from the beginning. You should be very proud! I know I have been on the edge of my seat these last few videos, knowing the first drive was coming very soon. That is an exciting time of any build. You never forget the first time you get something running or driving! This is sure a good first time driving a clutch too! About the only thing that would have made this video better is if you would have gunned it, dumped the clutch and done some burnouts in the grass, LOL!! That will come with time, haha! Excellent work, keep it up, even if you are on the other side of the country. Research your next steps, collect parts, figure out plans, etc... so when you get home next the work can continue. I know how the long term/long distance projects go, I'm in that situation, most of my toys (antique tractors) are in WI, and I am in ND. Perseverance is key, and you have no shortage of that! Also remember, life goes fast, don't let this project lie dormant too long. I also know how that goes.... I'll be looking forward to the next installment!
I can't remember ever being so genuinely excited and happy for people I've never met or will likely ever meet before. When you let the clutch out and drove it made me smile too. Congratulations on so many levels.
From go-karts to race cars I knew exactly how you felt when you got to drive it for the first time. I was right along with you on your ride. Very well done young man.
The second video..was watching you pre aluminium one... which to was impressive.. Your parents should be really proud of your achievements... I know l would... Well done.. Simon a Brit in Spain 👍
AWESOME!!!!! The smile on your face is priceless. WELL DONE!!!!!. Congrats on your college degree. Best wishes in the aviation industry. THANK YOU Mom and Dad!!!!!! What proud parents you must be. Looking forward to postings from your next adventure(s). Cheers and admiration.
What a sense of accomplishment, all the memories made, and the dream realized. Looking forward to future videos and where this journey leads. You are blessed with the support of your Dad and Mom. Congratulations!
It's alive! great kludges for the initial test set-up. It's hard to imagine a trickier introduction to manual transmission, though. The machine really should be considered as a master's thesis. It's great to see a new car completely devoid of cup-holders and airbags.
HOT DIGGITY DAMN! Man I tell you what. That smile said it all. Made me drop the phone and do a back flip, more like 180 on my head. HOLY SHLIP. Thats the best feeling in the world. Congratulations. Inspired me to drop the money I have been saving and by my Factory Five Cobra. Ive have been saving and planing it for years. Never a good time just gotta do it. So damn happy for you. Can not wait to feel and that first drive my self now. Been watching this since the day you started up loading for it. Just outstanding. Damn fine work to you and mom and dad.
I was excited to see you with a great smile on your face , I smiled along with you too. It has been an exciting build and SHOUT out to your Parents who must be so proud. I hope you are into Engineering as a career.
Wow... what an accomplishment. I couldn't help but feel incredible joy when you first started it up and made that huge smile. Genuinely impressed and happy to have been following along with the build.
Really enjoyed another great installment of the speedster build, you are one talented young man with so many brilliant qualities . Again I will look forward to your next installment
