Idk Shadow Warrior rail was pretty solid. Just one shot and you can finnish two enemies in a row.

Quake 2 and Quake 3 railguns in my soul forever. The best snipers.

It's not the same but they are similar. In certain games they behave nearly identical. In mechwarrior gauss guns are just like Q2 railgun.

The movie overall was kind of bad, the railgun was literally the best part about it.

Yep. Was going to say this. Railgun in name only. Otherwise I'd argue the Gauss Rifle from MechWarrior 2 would win, but it didn't act like we'd come to expect until MechWarrior 4.

You understand that the projectile fired is not the same as the launcher system. Did you know magnum is NOT a weapon type but ammo type, a Gauss Rifle is a magnetic fire system that could launch a number of different ammo types so YES System Shock's is and was first

@@normanred9212 I've seen real life magnetically fired guns, which hit about as hard as a BB gun right now. So you're not wrong in a way, except, the behavior of the guns in question (like System Shock) is not consistent remotely with a magnetically fired weapon. If something shoots a little pew-pew slow moving projectile, it's not a railgun, no matter it's name.

it's funny, there's a concussion rifle in jedi knight that has an altfire that literally functions exactly like the railgun in Q2 not shown in this vid, it just doesn't have rail in the name

Unreal was slightly more recent than these games.

The Unreal ASMD is a directed energy beam weapon, not an eloctromagnetically propelled metal slug Railgun. It's an instant shot and feels great though! Also, Civvie 11 shouldn't be calling it a railgun! ;)

Also, railguns are hit scan weapons.

@@theuniverse5311 it's more of a fusion cannon or just an oversized plasmagun. Personally I like to call all the BFG-like weapons in shooters as "doomsday devices"
