The very first screen adaptation of James Bond was an episode for the anthology show Climax! which was broadcast on CBS in 1954. The novel Casino Royale had only been out in the States for six months and its sequel Live and Let Die was yet to be released in the territory and so what resulted was James Bond through a prism we were to never see again.
James Bond, British secret agent, becomes Jimmy Bond, American operative. And the results are discombobulating to say the least.
But is there fun to be had in viewing Bond in such an odd way?
