I was driving around listening to Jerry Goldsmith's The Omen soundtrack. I was looking for an address then all of a sudden I saw the number 666 on an office front. Immediately I turned off the music and said to myself ooooohhhh shiiiit here it comes.
Now i’m thinking there should be a spin off from “The Omen” franchise. a series called “The Chronicles of Buganhagen” it would show him as a young man just starting out in the priesthood then eventually he would notice and become experienced with demon possession and exorcism and later become an exorcist. He always seemed like a mysterious interesting charecter to me. I’d like to see a series about him.
As an avid die hard Omen fan....was dissappointed in the portrayal of Father Brennen....he was not involved in the birth as stated in original...he was warning the nun repeatedly in this movie...I did not see him in the birth scene. In the original he stated he witnesses the birth and wants to be forgiven by Christ. He was portrayed as a good guy in this film. They will go forth, if there is a sequel , tracing the twin sister...ugh...I dont know was dissapointed.
I enjoyed your thoughts on the film. I’m torn between liking and having deep misgivings about the First Omen. On leaving the theater I liked it. But the more I thought about it I grew resentful. No one has really spoken about how much this movie has taken from Rosemary’s Baby. Lots of visuals were lifted from RB. I don’t want to give away the end of First Omen but I think the only way I can stomach the end is if we saw the birth of BBC reporter Kate Reynolds… I could see this film series continuing that way and going on to the Omen IV and V books. It could even pull in the terrible Omen IV tv movie. Anyway… I’m looking forward to your deeper dive once you post it.
I've seen The First Omen and genuinely liked it. The acting was superb, the cinematography was amazing, the movie overall was a good movie. I also just saw Abigail last night and absolutely loved it! Alisha Weir who played Abigail absolutely nailed it..
I appreciate your views and liked and subscribed! So anyways, I viewed this movie as a prequel having not see the original since I was at a slumber party in elementary school. So rather than re-watch The Omen before The First Omen I thought I would go in thinking of it as a prequel with the intent to watch the original right after. So I did. I was surprised how much I forgot about the original (I only ever saw it once as a child I am 52 years old now). I very much enjoyed The First Omen but I definately was surprised hopw much I enjoyed the original directly after watching the prequel. They go well together and I recommend doing that to anyone. The original holds up and it very classic and is actually more scary (to me) than the prequel. Doesn't take away from the prequel just mentioning how good the original is. Love both!
I havent seen the Omen for a while since they made the old one back in the day? How are you doing today and how your weekend? Just here to hear your intake on the movie?
I haven't seen this one yet but I will. I love omen my fav is Damien. Didnt really like the third one got kinda confused in the fourth one. But omen still great. I've heard really good reviews from other as well.
I liked the movie.it looked and felt like a movies from the 70s. it had some pacing issues in the middle. it's well acted and directed. loved the nods and connection to the original Omen (1976). great review, Ralph !
Btw a theory I had heard in the past was the possibility Margaret would give birth to a jackal which would birth damien. If they had gone with that or Margaret turning into a jackal it could have worked. We could have the human story and the terror of her getting impregnated by the animal with Damien still born from a jackal
Why do ppl forget the jackal debate started before this movie read Maria scianna on omen wiki, some fans thought Damien birth was a little ambiguous on parentage and even a actor in original movie had said Damien was born of a jackal and without a demon behind it it is loosely bestiality, think a plain animal birthing a human, yuck
For the life of me I don't know why they changed Brennan. Like you saud in the other video should have had him part of the conspiracy all along. All that had to do was show him with hood staring in with he others as Margaret gave birth. While I dont understand wht they had to change Damiwns origin to me the whole impregnation scene and birth was very dark and felt omen like.I have read the book and although its changed a little the wholee feel to me of the impregnation and birth gave me the dark feeling and mood the book did. In terms of that it lived up for me.
To me it feels like prequel to a whole new Omen franchise. I'm sure Disney would love to do that - especially if its successful. I don't know how they'd work around the Gregory Peck character...
The Omen Identity; A Jason Bourn film. In which we learn that Jason Bourn never really wanted to find out who he really was, because he was born, Jason Vorhees from the slasher films. Wounded on a black op mission, the missing parts of his brain were replaced with cybernetic. nanorobotic implants. Twisting his mind into a phantasmagoric miasma of mind morphing maniety Twisting the very tendrils of any tenancy that tied him the real world, eventually assuming the identify of one Hannibal Lector, a physician he'd murdered at a summer camp. And the rest is history. Good Gawd!
Disturbing as The Omen, but upped a great deal for modern movies. Still works along with the originals, as if the prophecy and other parts of the original was just nisread. Works far, far, far, infinately better than the movie Omen IV.
Couldn't have felt less like a 70s horror flick. Terrible prequel where they have changed far too much. Wouldnt mind so much if they intend to remake the others but they wont.
That’s exactly how I feel Ralph. No connection to the original. It seems like a reboot in a way. Beautiful cinematography. I don’t see what was the point of making this film
I watched The First Omen movie yesterday before I went to the WrestleMania viewing party in NYC. First of all Im in the same state as you are Ralph that it does have that 1970s feel and compelling imagery before the original Omen in 1976. There's a negative factor - there's nothing in relation and compatible to the book. I read the book twice. This is my 3rd time reading that I felt Father Brennan was responsible for murdering the Thorns' newborn baby and make the deed in the book but he didnt in the prequel. He talked to Margaret about the apparent doom and destruction coming within closed doors of the Orphanage, let alone the catholic church to create something to fear. Now there was scary chilling images I watched it in the movie theatre, my reaction I closed my hands and clutched my lips thinking "what the hell am I watching? This is unbelievably grotesque, haunting and brutally fascinating as it gets". It drew my attention and what makes the Omen a marvel franchise than Exorcist believer and Halloween canonization. As a young study since 16 years old in h.s. it caught me very intrugued, there was authenticity and it spoke volumes the backstory of how Damien came to be born in the world that we come to know and the sick priests and nuns conspire to bear witness the birth of the son of the devil. I thought the Jackal was the mother but it was the young nun who she gave birth to a boy and a girl which was so shocking. It shows promising delivery and I love to tune in and watch it all over again when its released on dvd coming later down the road. Shout out to you bro. Take care man.
@@Ralphlove37 From what I saw, the "Jackal" looked to demonic looking to look like an actual dog and it's skeletal structure wouldn't match the one in the grave either.
It's the original Day of the Jackal. Forsyth didn't really want to get into the supernatural stuff, so he incarnated the evil into an uterly ruthless assassin. The Central Intelligence Agency picked up on the Jackal/Jackal connection, but for reasons of national security you won't read about this anywhere. But Forsyth was being watched by both the CIA and the Catholic Church.
