Great review of the watering system you installed. Your operation has come so far, and it is always advancing in the right direction. Reviews like this are as enjoyable as the new content you create. 🚜-Woooo!!
You certainly have put your time in on that watering system, Liked " I don't know why I'm burping & I'm tired of farting." There's got to be a joke in there somewhere. . . .
Great info! Do you have any suggestions for leased land. We have got a good system for the ones with ponds, but we may in the next year or so get a pasture with just a creek. Blessings
my suggestion for leased land is to get a lifetime lease and build it the way you want it. Making things simple, maintenance free and easy to work with is what it's all about. Time...time and more time! If you don't have a well on that property, you may have to let the animals drink from the creek until you figure something out
Good morning Josh, this is exactly what I needed. Right now at my parents house we have 2 100’ garden hoses running from the house to the goat pen. With the below freezing weather we have been running an air compressor to blow out the hose. We need a better system!
Great overview of your off-grid water system Josh. I remember watching you put all that it. A ton of work but I'm sure you don't miss the water trailer! lol! Love the outtakes as always man!
Thats a darn near perfect watering system! Love it. Hard to do with a 6ft frost line but not impossible. Great content and great ideas to implement in the future.
Did you ancestors help Build Mount Rushmore? Are you a descendant of Gutzon Borglum? It's fascinating how you got a tire on it's side, to not slowly leak water. Amway, woo!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer yep I remember that. Just didn’t think you’d get rid of her. But def the right decision. Thanks for the update. Our GSD had the same issue.
There’s a neat way to keep that tank running by using a hose and drawing a siphon on it. That will draw out enough water to keep the float valve activating enough to disrupt ice formation.
ice typically forms at night, if you have a solar well....it won't pump at night and it takes about 2 hours or less to trickle out 1000 gallons of water on the ground via a small water hose...best to buy the right waterer and not have to mess with it again my brother
@@StoneyRidgeFarmerGotcha, I’m used to working with pressurized water hooked to a well (connected to AC power) or city water where I can just have that siphon run consistently and the well pump can keep up. Solar pumps is a whole different thing it seems.
see this all the time up in Ohio...simply dig your trenches deep enough or place the waterer in a corner of the field that's gonna be out of the way.....see that all the time in crop fields that are grazed every so often
@willbass2869 I'm pretty sure cereal rye grows taller than soybeans (which don't grow where I am anyway; however, lentils are at least viable as a cover crop). Corn isn't viable as a cash crop here either (sorghum is successful here). Anyone growing corn here is growing it for silage.
People say that tire isn’t healthy for your cows and your response is “it’s the industry standard, everybody’s doing it”. You do realize that just because everybody’s doing it that doesn’t mean it’s ok. Lol. We all drank from the hose as kids but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t exposing us to harmful chemicals (as we now know).
if it was harmful the fish would die in it.....doesn't matter what I think....all of the tanks on the farm are some form of plastic, rubber or synthetic material...so is the pipe my brother
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer by your answer I can see you still don’t understand the criticism. Just because the fish don’t die doesn’t mean it isn’t affecting them. Just because you don’t immediately die when you drink water with heavy metals or chemicals in it doesn’t mean it isn’t harmful. Again, that fact that “everybody’s doing it” is irrelevant. Not a difficult concept to understand
@@willbass2869that was atrazine and herbicide. He was quoting a study done by university of California Berkeley. Everyone laughed even though it wasn’t something he made up and now more and more people are acknowledging it was in fact true. Just another quarter in the jar.
