Great piece. I will say this. I think the King is handling the issue of Harry and Andrew brilliantly. His mother set his example, "never explain, never complain" and the King is close mouthed about what Harry has done to his heart and the family. So it should be. They are a family and the King will not deal with Harry in front of the cameras. Nor should he be expected to. Harry keeps jabbing away at the family members right and left simply, I think, because he is jealous of his brother. He always has been. He knew from a young age, unless something tragic happened, he would never be king and his own mother called him "the spare". That in and of itself would play on a child's mind. So, bottom line, Harry has lied about so many things in relation to what has gone on before not taking into account the feelings of his family members. Remember, the Queen herself said of Harry when he started all this talk about family "recollections may vary". In other words. Harry needed to shut up and deal with his feelings/problems with family BEHIND closed doors and not on the news. The Queen had dignity and charm. So does her son the King. The King has passed that on to William and William has also learned a lot watching and listening to his Grandmother. I think the King is doing an excellent job.
I agree that the King and/or the Prince of Wales should be going to Commonwealth countries before Germany and France, however, aside from that, considering how challenging things are for them with Andrew and the Sussexes, they're doing a great job providing that same stability the late Queen offered. It can't be easy taking on that role so late in life and while mourning a beloved mother (and his father quite recently, too). As for republicanism... they're not really going to get anywhere. They are a loud minority at best. Yah, they're piping up because they think this is their moment, but the UK is never going to remove the monarchy when so much of their national pride and identity is wrapped up in it. Yah, it wouldn't be so bad if some Commonwealth countries dropped out... good for them, but I think the UK, Canada and a few other countries are pretty much a lock and will never drop the monarchy.

Harry was left behind because he insisted on Meghan going. Kate didn't go because of this when she should have been there. I was also affected when I heard the word King used. It took a bit before I could hear it without a start.

Harry still pulls the victim/poor me card over that day when he got "left behind"... dude takes way too much personally & then holds onto resentment toward things that he needs to learn to let go of. Knowing what it's like dealing with a family member who's literally less than 24 hours away from death, & the chaos that tends to ensue with the rest of the family & trying to get all sorts of things in order in such a short period of time, I can only imagine how amplified that is within the royal family & I truly believe him being left, was NOT a personal attack! The plane waited twenty minutes for Harry then had too leave. Meghan was arguing with him that she couldnt go. Catherine didnt go either and she understood. This trip was for children and grand children with the exception of Sophy. Because of waiting twenty minutes for harry thay didnt get to see her alive
His mother and father did travel as late as their 80’s. The Queen visited Australia at the age 85, so prince Phillip was 90? So, I don’t think Charles is as healthy as the Queen was. I am just speculating, since the airplane they travel in can have everything they need it. Like a bed, oxygen, doctors. If he isn’t going there, it must to be something we will never know about it.

I do think it’s a shame the Prince and Princess of Wales didn’t take an opportunity to send a message to the participants, Attending the games quietly would have been brilliant. This is the first time I think they have really missed the boat, they should have been the bigger people, and it really saddens me. Won’t do them any good and has certainly has reduced my faith in them. I hope some suitable explanations are offered in the media which would allow me to feel this can be restored. When you look back at history especially when talking about queens QE2 will stand out amongst them all as being extremely successful and loved by her people as well as loved by the world. 70 yrs on the throne will be a major part of her legacy and her "story" in the history books. Itll be a story of success and triumphs, not a story marred by extreme levels of tragedy and controversy. When she took her pledge that day she meant every word. She dedicated her life to serving her people and did so until her last days. Her entire life was dedicated to crown, country and commonwealth. Im so glad i was able to live through 43 yrs of her reign. She was and always will be an Icon and someone anyone can hope to emulate but especially women. And she loved her family very much. I know i miss her. Id also like to add I'll never forgive Harry for what he put the Queen and Prince Philip through their last time on this earth. He's an absolute disgrace. He didn't care about his grandmother one bit, only harry and harrys best interests. Long live the King.

I was enjoying this program when Mr. Russell Myers or Meyers, opened his mouth criticizing yet again the RF for daring to be a family. A PR disaster, says he. He is the third or fourth writer and or royal commentator who was negative for no reason. What was your purpose? For crying out loud, they are a FAMILY and if the RF cannot place their FAMILY above optics right before the anniversary of their mother’s, grandmother’s, aunt’s or cousin’s death, then I don’t know when they can.
