The Fish Were A Bonus: Brixham Breakwater Sea Fishing!

A busy sea fishing session on Brixham Breakwater in South Devon and what a beautiful evening it was. I love a Brixham holiday, I try and visit a couple of times a year. Over the years I've caught some lovely fish at this spot including Mackerel, Garfish, Bull Huss, Whiting, Pouting, Bass, Conger Eel, Pollock and more. During my next trip, I plan to sample a bit of the Berry Head Fishing too, that place is something else! Fishing to me is therapy, it does wonders for mental health as there's something about being next to the sea!

I've been having fishing holidays in Brixham for over 30 years as a small boy with my Grandad right up to the present day with the lads. Sadly my Grandad has had to give up the fishing for a few years now... Watching your videos bring back some fantastic memories. Hope you and the family are well. Matt

Shame he's had to give up the fishing now but I'm sure all of those past fishing experiences will live with him forever. Yes that's it, the Whiting are moving on now I think, I've had some awesome Whiting sessions down there in the past but mainly during November/December. Great to see you back fishing and filming mate, as always your video is so therapeutic and calming. I hope you recharged the old batteries with your holiday mate, it recharges mine just watching. Brixham is a lovely place to visit, a little piece of the country that never seems to change. I find it hard to believe that bitter, miserable so and so's could even find anything negative to say about you or your fantastic videos, they must have extremely sad lives and it just gets projected back to them with their spite for the pitiful existence they have made for themselves. I pity them actually, as they must also pity themselves. I hope you had a great holiday Gareth and as always, it's a bonus when I get a notification that you've posted a new video. Thank you Steve, it was a lovely break and the batteries were certainly recharged. I love Brixham, as you say not much seems to change. During the warmer months down there, I often just walk the shoreline with a spinning rod, very pleasurable indeed. Yes the trolls have been a nuisance of late, sad and ridiculous. I was even accused of filming multiple times at the same venue, merging all the footage together and pretending I caught all of the fish in the same session...it's laughable given that I only get the chance to go fishing once a week, if that! I'm hoping to get a session in next week as I have a couple of days off work, that's the plan anyway, will probably stay local. Hope all is good with you mate, take it easy and enjoy the weekend 👍👍

Hi Gareth, loved fishing Brixham breakwater when i was a kid 55yrs ago on the harbour side (parents would't let me fish the other side) bringing back some great memories, when i caught a wrass or some other small fish a cuttlefish (although i ddnt have a clue what it was) would try and catch it as i reeled in! Great to see you again Gareth,Berry head I love that place,caught a 2 and a half pound mackerel there on an Abu krill,great fight,got back to the tent and had it with some mash potatoe,I swear I can taste it now,lol all the best Gar.

Cracking video as always mate! Looks a great nights fishing...can't beat non-stop bites, even when they're mainly straps & Whiting...you never know what the next bite is going to be...and it certainly keeps you busy and warm! Its always better to catch than to blank! Nice to see you out in Devon...fishing on the channel has been tough going lately...lets hope the water warms up soon and we can get out on the Rays!

Nice video Gareth , it is hard fishing at home at the moment, I was down Newport steps last Saturday early morning unfortunately didn’t catch but sunrise was stunning , it was worth the early start just to see that. We’re over Lady Bay next week fingers crossed.

Hi Gareth I'm glad to see you are safe and well. I see that you are back at Brixham. For a bit of fishing.. Unfortunately those days are long gone for myself.. mainly because of health issues. Brixham harbour is the place I caught my biggest bass . just under twenty pounds on a mackerel flapper. I was fishing for conger at the time.. Anyway Gareth stay safe and well fella.

Great video Gareth the fishing always looks good down there. Nothing wrong with staying in the UK to holiday. Not sure if you’ve been down to St.Ives in Cornwall it’s beautiful not sure what the fishing is like but the water is crystal clear. Tight lines butty

Yes I've been to St Ives, although I've never fished there. I did fish off some rocks once at Carbis Bay which is next to St Ives, I had a few Dogfish if I remember rightly. My cousin lived in brixham. She passed away through sepsis and it hurts that she wasn’t saved. We shared a birthday. Brixham is a very special place to me. Glad you had a few fish winter time. I’ll bet it is easier fishing in the summer Thank you for the video- reminding me of my family 😢❤
