I’ve got so many mates that used to compete and abuse PED’s in their early 20’s. Now they’ve moved on (no money in the sport unless you’re in the top 0.01%) and they’re all severely overweight, bald, look like they’re 40 years old and produce next to no testosterone. They also have a really unhealthy obsession with food and majorly depressed since they’ll never look like what they did in their 20’s. I’m so glad I stayed natural and just train for health and fitness, I’m still training 5x per week in my early 30’s, have great testosterone levels and I can maintain all the muscle I’ve built.

I competed in men's physique for a few years. I would starve myself for weeks. Getting down to 200 lbs at 6ft 3in. As soon as I stepped offstage I would eat like there was no tomorrow. In less than 2 weeks I would be 230 lbs. It took years for me to stop getting up in the middle of the night to binge eat

@@DJCJ999 long story short… i have a massive appetite and eat until im bloated every meal. i just eat low calorie dense foods. Greg has a lot of videos on that and a cookbook that i personally adopted and its helped tremendously. Second… slow changes to your diet. I went from only eating high calorie processed foods for meals (mac and cheese, chips, cookies) and i tried to change my entire diet all at once, ended up bouncing back. I first had to accept the reality of my current diet, and one meal at a time i changed from processed foods to a meal on the cookbook. I spent 2-3 days before replacing another meal. I currently still eat one processed meal but its not daily anymore, its when i have a craving. I went from 185-153(current) since October of last year. Its not a lot of weight but its been a very healthy change and ive been able to be consistent ever since. Took me 3 weeks to fully get on low calorie dense foods and maintain it. I did bounce back during that time but every day is a new day and new opportunity, and forgive yourself if you have a bad day and big cravings. Bodybuilding is a forever activity, take your time

When I decided to really make a lifestyle change I started tracking macros. I knew I wasn’t going to do it for forever and did it more to see how my diet was and how it should be. 6 months in I realized it started taking more control than I anticipated. If I had calories left over and I wasn’t hungry, I would force myself to eat. If I was out of calories and hungry I wouldn’t allow myself to eat. That’s when I stopped and switched to intuitive eating. I feel so much more in tune with my body, my clothes are fitting better, and my performance in the gym has been awesome. It is so easy to get swept into this stuff.

I’m someone who’s been around the same size wasteline wise for over 11 years now. I was a fat teenager who lost the weight and kept it off , the problem was is that the weight in my face is often what fluctuates the most and of course that’s always what people notice first. Reality is is that I often fluctuate between 135-150 lbs and am a 5’9 man and can bench press around 200ish pounds on a good day and cardio is my passion. Because of how my face fluctuates though I’ve found myself falling into this exact trap the last four or five years or so and let me just say coach Greg is exactly right in this video and in his meal plans. I’ve lost 20 pounds in 2.5 months. No crash dieting no days full of hunger. Just tracking calories and finding what foods make me fullest for longest with the least calories. Now my biggest problem is getting enough calories for my deficit to not be unhealthy, because I discovered a new love for fruit and veggies and they can’t cut it alone.
@C0d0ps
@C0d0ps Год назад
Technically losing 20 pounds in 14 weeks is a “crash diet” or with other words “more than a 500 calorie deficit”. If you are obese then you will mentally and physically recover though. Just don’t keep it up for to long as it is not sustainable throughout your entire journey. Either way I’m really proud of you for losing that weight. The dedication paid off brother. It’s important for people to eat to live and not live to eat. I am in pretty good shape but my wife severely suffers with exercise and working out. Her biggest issue is FOOD. She literally won’t eat something unless it “sounds good” or satisfies her craving. She’s legitimately addicted to food. It releases endorphins and she mistakes that for “being satisfied” with the food. It’s crazy. I want her to see food as fuel.

I'm getting to a point in my weight loss journey where I'm really having to put my convictions to the test. My "goal weight" is still technically in the overweight category and I'm only a few lbs away from it. I know from experience that in the past I couldn't go lower without getting severe anxiety and a whole slew of trauma reactions (I had several involuntary starvation incidences in my childhood/early teens that were coupled with emotional/physical neglect), because physical hunger is an actual trigger for me. From a medical/health standpoint I don't NEED to go lower, but after maintaining that goal for a while, I may want to. So here's the plan: I'll maintain the goal weight and simultaneously go to therapy to work on that past trauma. I'll learn how to emotionally separate "being loved and cared for" from "feeling stuffed". If I can manage to do that, I can then decide whether or not getting into the "normal" weight category is worth it for me. If I can't manage, I'll maintain the current goal weight because it's where I'm physically comfortable and as healthy as possible with manageable anxiety and without too much hunger pangs. I don't expect this to be easy. In fact I think this is one of the harder challenges to take on in my life because it goes to some deep rooted (un)truths I've learned about myself and my worth in my early life. Coach Greg, thank you for the rant at the end. You're helping. You're really making a difference. 💙

I enjoy running and strength training a lot, and the endorphins produced by it are super beneficial for my mental health. 💙 I'm happy to hear you're doing well, too! And I never never knew or wanted to take anything , never took a snippet of a drug not even aspirin through fear of testing positive at track meets . And I Stil won the British title and other titles even In the USA . Reality most people don’t wanna do the work. I remember literally looking around thinking how the hell are these girls all looking fat one minute then ripped the next ! DRUGS!!! And even to find that out I had to ask a body builder ! That’s how retarded I am on drugs. I take Suppliments now because of my chorionic Anaemia plus individual vitamins that to be honest I believe are just a placebo. It makes me sick all this wanting and insecurity wanting likes and shit. Friggin sad. No one has confidence anymore. I was in the gym last night ! A girl came up to me preparing to get into body building shows. She said I just want to say how amazing your arms are, I said yep And it took 25 years to build that muscle memory to maintain it at 54! And never taken anything . Her jaw almost hit the floor . To Say part so many are taking crap ! Is a understatement, No one believes the natural athletes when they say they don’t take anything. Although body building as done amazing things to get people active ! I believe it’s also ruined the genuine aesthetic of just looking good and fit the body building world needs to do more on explaining why you should take steroids and who should consider if they do and what to consider prior . This should be in all clubs also on the walls. All these lazy ass fake training individuals expecting credit for taking cheat substances not getting my approval

Years back i used to bulk as much as i can cuz i feel skinny despite being lean and having decent muscle with a lagging chest and lack of thickness in the back. Although it help me a bit but I don’t think i could sustain it for longer. I still eat a lot but not as crazy as before, there are times that i force feed myself for the sake of achieving the calorie count but all in all, bulking is good as long as its healthy and not as crazy. Even non gym goers can bulk easily without the knowledge about bulking and not being that crazy to binge a lot of food. The bulk and cut has been the staple of this industry and most people get away from it. Revival fitness once said that greg was wrong and continued to gaslight people in which most people tend to misuderstood greg but for me I believe that the older you get, you’ll gain weight anyways. I believe that cutting is way more complex than bulking. I believe that a slight bulk followed by a maingain looks realistic and simple especially a guy like me who’s in the budget currently.

Big muscles but super Weak health, joints, heart, mind etc ? why people dont do body recomposition?, I mean something has to be done because this is a sport that should have something to do with health right ? and those huge muscles should be a sign of power and health, not a sign of ped abuse that for only a few genetically gifted individuals, it does not end their life. I love natural bodybuilding but this kind of Drug sport really has to end. Show what your body and good diet and health can do, but this people treat themselves like cattle gaining pounds and then starving to death, this does not even have a grain of logic.

Also want to add the place your currently at in your life is HUGE when it comes to competing in the healthiest possible way. Are you overworked at your job? Is your work/home life super stressful? If so you absolutely shouldn’t compete during that time of your life. If you have good work life balance and aren’t chronically over stressed then your good to go. Yes contest prep is going to put some level of stress on your body, but if your life is balanced overall you will have a much more successful, healthier, and enjoyable experience for your show.

That's one of the problems with our culture. It mainly tends to be with women where they somehow get into this mindset that they need to lose weight when they are not even fat/obese. But everyone can and will benefit from exercise since it is for good health and longevity.

Bulking has diminishing returns. As your body fat percentage goes up, the percentage of lean tissue to adipose tissue goes down as you add new tissue. If this women added 30 lbs in 6 months, she worked really hard to add alot of fat that she had to work really hard to burn off later, and that work produced minimal net new lean tissue.

This seems to be a universal truth in any discipline and art form. Too much emphasis on competition always ends up perverting the activity so far away from its original goals and core philosophy that it becomes a mere travesty.

I'm glad you're using the terms "health and fitness" instead of bodybuilding because what bodybuilders do to their bodies, especially professional bodybuilders, is far from being healthy.

A better name would be the strength/aesthetics industry. It is very far removed from fitness and health.

I really hope Keltie sees this and replies to coach greg. I've followed her for the last couple years despite being exact opposite as far as body types. I was only good at playing h-o-r-s-e on the basketball court. I think she went into RU-vid with one mindset as far as athletics and had a hard time adjusting to the social media expectations which are pretty much a mashup of impossible standards even if you start off on the right foot. all they do is tear you down. I'm glad she seems to be on a healthier path right now and continues forward with success. it's a tough world to live in because the standards are near impossible.

I agree with the extreme approach of gaining 30+ lbs in the off season is not necessary and can lead to eating disorders as well as muscle loss due to diet fatigue having to prep so long during the cut, feeling sluggish with a massive surplus all the time, however there is an aspect of this video I disagree with. Coming from a lifetime natural Pnba pro mens physique competitor who has brought many clients to shows and guided them to win natural pro cards etc, a slight surplus is superior to building muscle then staying the same weight year round trying to put on muscle without the use of any peds. You can “bulk” in a far less extreme way limiting your weight gain depending on body weight percentage to a more reasonable amount so you won’t have to diet so hard to be champion level conditioning for a show. You also won’t have to go on a very low calorie diet or do tons of cardio. I won my first pro show without doing any cardio during my cut, and Iv had other clients 40yrs old + do the same. I’m not against cardio but saying that you will definitely need to do tons of cardio and be super low calorie to be stage lean simply isn’t true if you approach your training and nutrition properly and don’t have to drop weight quickly during your prep. Staying active making sure your getting enough steps in everyday, being consistent on your workouts during the cut is all that is needed when losing weight for a show. Maximizing your metabolic capacity during the off-season limiting how fast and how much weight you gain and allowing plenty of time to slowly lose the weight needed to be fully conditioned changes everything about your experiences during contest prep and the show itself.

I kinda get her situation with breast implants. It's not that people don't feel secure about themselves, it's others that are brainwashed by social media and keep annoying others about their "imperfections". I'm a natural guy and I never was insecure. I have no surgeries, use no make up and don't take any drugs. I'm completely happy with myself, yet the pressure and judgement of society keeps reminding me every single day that my "normal" isn't accepted. Obviously most people just can't stand it anymore being judged everyday and just give in, not because of insecurity but rather because of judgement of others. Your natural looks makes them feel insecure about their choices in life and so they hate you. "You didn't castrate yourself by using drugs?" "I did, so you think you're better than me? F*ck you I hate you." "You don't hit yourself on the head? So you think you're something better than us right?" It's just so stupid.

Honestly I always assumed Greg felt the absolute best right now. His peak competition state is a sacrifice to compete. This is what sold be on his message. He encourages a balanced healthy life and says being ultra shredded is just a temporary state that isn't for everyone.

Short endomorph here I have embraced my genetics and try to maintain 18% fat percentage. There is no changing my blocky bone structure so at this point I just train because I enjoy it .

@@ResplendentSkull i’am a endomorph and it is a struggle to remain at that I only average 1,800 calories . In recovery from an eating disorder so not pushing it to extreme . For a 58 year old 18% is respectable. Not everyone genetically can get to 15% or less . Coach Greg has repeated this many times I guess you weren’t listening 😁😁😁. Have a great day 🍻🍻.

@John Doe if i’am happy at my current fat percentage why does it matter to you 😂😂. I’am only 5’2” I currently weight 124 my bmi is good . My chest is 39” my waist is 32” so I definitely am not obese by any measure. I do progressive overload workouts every other day and cardio four or five times a week for at least a half hour and also work a full time job. The average male in United States is 30% plus has a giant gut i’am 18% I don’t have a gut so what the hell do you want me to do differently 😁😁😁? I’am open to realistic options 🍻🍻??

@John Doe 😂😂🍻🍻. I keep trying my friend it’s a goal I may never get there but I keep trying for the record. At this point as long as I keep my eating disorder at bay and I remain healthy that’s the main thing. After decades of overtraining and under eating my hormones were completely out of whack I was mineral deficient in all my blood panels and I was experiencing bone loss . Everything is stable and normal I have actually added a good bit of muscle. My goal at this point is to continue training staying at around 18% and working on adding more muscle. I hope that explains my history and why I feel happy where i’am at now .
