McDonald's employee here: the vanilla flavor might also be because our machines work by pumping the flavor syrup directly into our vanilla ice cream base, and depending on if your machine sucks ass or not, it might put more or less syrup (which also explains the fluctuating color consistencies between shakes lol) Also, the flavor is supposed to be mixed berry, and to me honestly tastes almost identical to mixed berry yoplait yogurt Loving the theory of the fries though! I'm not a scientist, just a lowly fast food employee, so I cannot confirm or deny that part, but I just wanted to give my two cents too :]
My local McD gives shakes with a consistent purple and I honestly never noticed any flavor change based on eating something with it or not. I think your theory makes more sense lol
OMG I think Jordan would be a JUST president. However those already in power would prob say no bc he tells the truth. He GIVES THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT/NEED.
This is legit probably the closest I’ll ever get to trying the Grimace milkshake and not because it’s purple and looks gross, but because the ice cream machine is always down at my McDonalds 😂
And no doubt its full of hundreds of different parasites. Most if not ALL fast food restaurants, all fountain drinks in general contains parasites. They are filthy, and gross. And there's a study that this lady did. She was a guest on Woodward TV channel here on YT.
You know, it's actually genius on McDonald's part because Grimace is the 'embodiment of a taste bud or milkshake.' So an alternating flavor milkshakes is perfect for him.
I was pleasantly surprised when I had mine, but it seemed very overpowering with the berries in the flavoring. Also yes that perfect purple is also pretty off-putting, and it's one of my favorite colors so I still had to wrap my head around it. So happy to see them celebrating Grimace though!
Corporations have turned adults into children. And you pay them to poison you & waste your time thinking and talking about them. Seriously they are stealing your light & your health, & you deserve better.
It was such a weird thing. I pulled into my local McDonald's...by the way I cut out as much advertising in my life as I can, I go to extraordinary lengths to not see commercials. So I roll in for a cheeseburger, and I see two signs near the drive thru. With a purple milkshake on them. And the word Grimace on them. And a few other words in Spanish. No ad copy in English at all around this restaurant. And I'm like "Hmm I thought they discontinued all the weird cartoon mascots years ago?" I did not order one.
Jordan…. I’m so sorry that you’re making that face. Idk if it’s because you just dont want it so much that you look like you’re about to cry or if it’s because life is so tough that you actually might cry….whatever it is, things will get better. I hope you’re doing well or feel better soon. ❤ You’re a super awesome human being and I love how real you are. You bring smiles to so many peoples’ faces. Thank you for being you!
As a McDonald’s drive through/ fry cook I can say that we don’t require you to buy it in a meal you can get the shake by its self under June meals on the order register (the tablet used to take orders)
I tried it a few days ago, (and I finished it way before I ate the fries) and it legit tasted like a Strawberry Milkshake 😂. I’ve had a lot of McDonald’s Strawberry Milkshakes over the past few months and it tastes almost exactly like that, with a little “mixed berry” type of flavor mixed in. Though I definitely got a stronger sense of the Vanilla Ice Cream too, so the flavor scientists definitely know what they’re doing 😂
I'm so glad you said that. I tried it yesterday and thought it tasted exactly how you described. I was sort of disappointed. Someone said a McDonald's worker said it was supposed to taste like blueberry, which I did not get that. Glad it isn't just me!
I'd love to know where you live cuz wherever you live you've been able to try several milkshakes in the past few months &every single mcdonalds I've been to only has broken shake machines. I can't tell you the last time i had one of their shakes smh. I gave up & now i just get the strawberry frosty at Wendy's & i don't regret it one bit.
Best flavor for a purple milkshake is ube or taro (based on roots that you can buy at filipino market, best with boba), tastes very similar to chocolate - when the mcdonald lady told me is berry i thought "nah" - this COULD have been the mainstream debut of Taro and Ube
Hi! I work at McDonald’s. We do sell ours without the meal, not sure if that’s a regional thing or not. But when I tasted the grimace shake it tasted EXACTLY like fruity pebbles to me. And pretty much all of my crew and many customers have agreed. Yes, it’s advertised as a berry flavor but that’s not what it really tastes like in my opinion.
For some reason a lot of things taste like fruity pebbles and no one can think of the flavor until I mention it. I work for a circle k and we have mountain dew slushies, they just taste like bad fruity pebbles
The fact that you know what "Fruity Pebbles" tastes like is just so disturbing. Just the excessive food coloring alone should put you off of that nasty mess.
Also works with coffee aswell. A pinch of salt will remove most of the bitterness from the coffee it would also bring out the sweetener if you added any.
This is the first time I've been grateful for becoming lactose intolerant. Tho if Jordan told me it was dairy free, I'd believe him, he's that legit. 😊
It is dairy free. If you've noticed, McDonalds NEVER has called them or referred to them as Milkshakes, they call them shakes. Reason? Because they have no milk.
@@guyincognito1423 I can't tell if you were joking with this comment. BUT, I think it uses their soft serve, which is ice CREAM right? From a google search, they use "shakes" because every state/country has their own definition of what requirements something needs to be to meet a "milkshake" term, so they use "shakes" to avoid legal issues. I'd believe that reasoning as before I became overly sensitive to dairy, I'd be affected by a milkshakes/ice creams from basically any fast food establishment.
the milkshake machine and the ice cream machine both use the same ice cream mix. They are just different sides of the same machine. If they say they have shake and NOT ice cream then they are understaffed. If they say they don't have shakes AND ice cream then the machine is in HEAT MODE and is self-cleaning to kill any bacteria in the tank.
You actually can order it without the meal. At least at my McDonald’s. As far as the taste, for me, it’s very heavy on the berry taste with that thick medicine coating and that’s without the fries. I added more vanilla milkshake to it and it’s a bit more palpable for me. Might be good with chocolate.
Hello 😁, okay so today I tried the Grimace birthday meal (excitedly) now here is a thought I had: when you originally put the straw into the milkshake the straw first gets filled with whipped cream and some of the milkshake so I think the first drink does taste more like vanilla ish and whip cream because the first drink is filled more with the whip cream so it's less berry flavor then the second drink actually tastes more like the berry flavor that's the actual milkshake because the second drink you've already drank out the whipped cream out of the straw just my theory on the different tastes. It was very sweet and yes the berry-flavor did get stronger as I ate more of the french fries and the Big Mac.... 😎✌🏽
Odds are it isn't even blueberry flavored but Ube, which is a purple yam. I haven't yet tried the shake, but I'm betting that's why you can taste a "vanilla" flavor as it is a yam not a berry.
"You can only order it with a meal. You cannot order it seperately." You can, actually. And it tastes like a vanilla and blueberry shake. I would know, I work at a McDonald's and I tried the shake
It was too sweet! I added the rest of my sundae to it and it was still overwhelmingly sweet. Don't know if they messed up the recipe since it was the first day but all I could taste was straight up blue berry syrup.
No lie though that milkshake is pretty good. I don’t care what kind of concoction made it the fact that McDonald’s ice cream machine works for this shake…. DONE
In Romania the shake is called blueberry smoothie as it's not made from the ice cream machine, they use ice, milk and blue berry syrup so the taste will not be changed if you eat fries. Oh and also you can take it as itself no need for it to be in a menu, as it's from the McCafe.
I thought it had to do with having limited milkshake machinery available. So with the specialty shakes (shamrock mint or arctic orange) they just add an additional flavour to the existing vanilla shake.
I got one of these on its own (had to ask for it specifically at the counter inside) but it was definitely, almost overpoweringly berry flavor (but not enough to be bad, just unmistakable). I feel like the vanilla vs berry flavor profile is really mostly just a side effect of how good the mcdonalds is, I know in the past I've tasted a decent amount of cross-flavoring in the chocolate/strawberry milkshakes too from different locations.
I used to work at McDonald's but remember you poke the flavor and it is dispensed with the soft serve ice cream. So instead of running a little thru when changing the flavor most don't so you could have a little remnant of the previous flavor. Just like the drink fountains where the water lever is on another drink there will be some of that drink in with the water as the drink tends to be stcky and clings to the spout.
He lied you can get the shake by itself. “It's true that the Grimace Birthday Shake cannot be ordered on its own in the app, but McDonald's claims that it can be ordered separately at the actual restaurant.”
I shared one with my kids and we all said the same thing, tarro root(not sure of spelling, you know the Hawian vegetable) and some type of berry. I liked it. Funny story. We had to go to 2 McDonald's to get it. The 1st one said we couldn't get it. I asked, "Just the Grimace Shake? Or all Shakes?" The employee said all shakes. Go figure, the machine was down. We went to another location, less than 5 minutes away. We could get the shake there.
At the Mcdonald's near me, they let you buy it alone. It was like $3.39 for a small and I tasted a berry flavor. The only thing I had before that was water so I don't know about this.
I got the shake just on its own like a week ago. It tasted like a floral berry type deal. Not bad but not something I’d go crazy with. Idk if kid behind the counter messed up or not but mine was solo no meal. But I totally see how the fries would change up the notes.
INCORRECT, you can buy the shake by itself. i work at mcdonalds in indiana, we have an entire button just for the grimace shake alone, right under the grimace meal buttons for the big mac and 10 piece. but everything else, you got it Sir Jordan, no disrespect intended.
back in the good old days i lived in maryland, everynow and then we would stop at a really good ice cream place on the way to a store. this shop sold mini gallons of blueberry milk. literally identical taste
I had it for the first time today and there are two ways i would explain it. 1. If grimace puked into a cup and then they give it to you 2. if you got fruity pebbles and ground them up then added milk and just throthed it until it was a foam then added more creme.
Here in Florida you can buy it separately, it was almost $4 for a small. To me it taste like Froot Loops. A while back Hardee’s had frootloop donuts that were discontinued really quickly for whatever reason it taste exactly like them in my opinion.
Please as the President can you investigate and tell us the recipe for CoCo's Ichiban curry? It's one of the most popular in Japan and so hard to replicate!
Much love Jordan, but its not bc of the fries, its because theres a layer of vanilla soft serve at the bottom of the cup, people who say it tastes like vanilla, 9 times outta 10, just haven't drank past the bottom layer yet. Its traditional Mixed Berry flavor, (Blackberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry) with Vanilla and Cream undertones. The best way to try the flavor they actually want you to get, is to mix the drink around until the Softserve and Whipped Cream layers are fully integrated into the Mixed Berry layer. This gives you one consistent flavor throughout the whole drink. Also, you can 100% order the shake separate of the meal, unless you're at some fucked McDonald's where they just wanna be assholes to you.
Actually you can order the grimace shake seperately. basically you just get ripped off for 15 dollars worth of a meal when you can just order the shake by itself for around 5 dollars. Don't tell me how I know because if you go up in the drive thru and ask if they sell the grimace shake seperately it's a yes. I don't know if it happens at all McDonald's but the McDonald's that I went to is superior for its yes.
I. . . I have been searching for hours. . . HOURS on end until i saw your video on this. . . I am done with this trend and all of this damn crap going around about the grimace shake. . . EVEN SOME OF MY FAVORITE YOU TUBERS ARE GOING WITH THIS. And after all this time. I just want to say. Thank you. Thank you for this, and thank you for the videos you make. I think they are very enjoyable to watch and I can relate between most of them. This world is dumb. It really is. But that still doesn't mean that there is light in this world. Not like this damn crap with the grimace shake. I wanted someones honest opinion on it and what it tastes like. But nope. . . They just had to go with their stupid little trend that everyone is doing. Like the trend where you cancel your Uber drive to get a free ride. But that's off the point. All I Truly wanted to say is, Thank you. Thank you very much.
FINALLY!!!!! Do you have ANY idea how long ive been searching for someone to just straight up say how the shake is and not that stupid trend? I missed my chance to get one and im happy someone actually decided to explain it
I just tried the milkshake and you actually can get them separately where I am. At first, it tastes like Froot Loops. However, if you linger on it long enough, there's a strange aftertaste. You remember when you were a little kid and when you went to the dentist one of the mouthwash flavors was a fruity flavor? It's like that. I tried it with fries and there was no difference, so I don't think the fries have any effect on the drink. It probably depends on how much flavoring the machine can pump into the shake base.
0:50 "you can only get a grimace milkshake with the meal, you cannot order it separately" ............*sips the grimace milkshake I ordered without the meal* I feel like I broke the law somehow now. EDIT: It's berry 100%, even without fries. Specifically more of a blueberry taste.
Hi there! I've been a fan for a while now. I love the secrets, it's so much more affordable to make things at home. 😀 I have a question! Would you happen to know what is in the "House Special" sauce at Mr Hotpot? I would love to make this sauce myself, it's absolutely delicious. 😋 Thank you for reading!
You all here dissing it cause its purple really need to go out and get some ube or taro desserts from your local Asian mart. They're great, usually not too sweet so you can have a lot without getting overwhelmed. Plus, a lot of the time, its naturally purple. Love a good taro bubble tea
