You are an inspiration! I recently saw this video and realized that I could use my rear driver's window space to build a custom insert with pouches velcroed on to store all of my clothes and toiletries when car camping. It's efficient, out of the way, and also works as a window cover since I painted the back black. Keep these awesome DIY builds coming!
Love it!! Those molle panels can be expensive but mostly all are harsh, cage looking. I like how yours is efficient, yet you kept the warmth and natural look to it. 🤩 Awesome addition! 👍🏼
There are many videos dealing with split out that might be useful to you. Some are simple like covering the cut line with masking tape, to scoring first with a razor knife. Using a finer tooth blade also helps, and see about making a zero clearance shoe. They look pretty handy in place! Good luck.
LOL Hardware run the first of many made me chuckle.. Gas is the often the most expensive part of our projects... going back and forth to the hardware store.. LOL
Try using masking tape under the cut lines (apply tape, then draw your cut lines on the tape)...or score the cut lines with a drywall knife before cutting, to help minimize tear out. Yes, time consuming, but faster than putty fill and sanding. I like how you use a lot of recycled material with creative design skills. Forming those curved brackets out of aluminum stock was very cool. The use of a drawing compass with pencil point on one end, needle point on the other, should prove very useful to scribe cut lines on your templates. Good going, using templates and trial fits. Money saving!
Thanks for tips! I'm keeping track of all of these for when I get around to tackling the driver's side window panel project. 🙂 I'm thinking dropdown table with a secret mini bar. 😂
I've owned my 4Runner for a while now, and I always wanted to do something like this, but never got around to it. This is a great interpretation of what I envisioned.
Brilliant! This is really similar to what I’m wanting to do in the Forester (if i can get it running again; that’s another story). I’d been looking at the molle panels but I love what you’ve done! Sooooo nice.
Your commitment to this project is amazing and your reward is totally worth it! Love it! I wondered if you are considering putting together a pattern and supply list available for purchase for different rigs. I drive a 2016 Honda Pilot and would love to build something like this for my car. By the way, I have been using that same pour over coffee filter for MANY years! Love it! I probably have 6 of them - in the house, in my car camper, in my shuttle bus camper, in my hiking bag, etc.
LOL I'm just stubborn 😂 If manufacturers made the interior specs for different vehicles easily accessible, heck yeah. Otherwise, not worth risking what's left of my mental health. 😵💫 And yeah, that filter is bomb. Super compact, and perfect for klutzy types, such as myself.
Thank you! I have an EcoFlow River Pro with 720wh. The kettle pulls 444w. Each time I run it, it usually knocks the available wattage down by about 12%.
Very cool! Inspired by your video, this is going on my to do list! I also create window inserts, but mine serve a different purpose. Made of 1/2” plywood, fully carpeted and without any interior alterations, they incorporate a full motion TV wall mount, supporting a 12 volt 19” TV/DVD with remote and USB amplified window antenna. Awesome channel, Keep creating!
Gee and to think you could have just thrown up a small multipocketed bag and called it a day. Hee hee, not. Yeah I get it, not your vibe nor mine. This was great and I enjoyed watching your process.
is it a gender thing, I wonder? the difference between feel-feel your way with multiple iterations and adjustments, going along vs think it all out 1st and then do in one?🤔hmm. oh, the satisfaction of a fit, finally! fantastic!
