I hope the agents get their own lines of dialogue and show their personalities. Like 4 seems to chill as seen from her rooming with 8 with no problem.

Another thing about Agent 4 is their ability to beat the octarians using ALL weapon classes at their disposal thanks to Sheldon. Agent 3 just had to use the shooter class (not counting the roller and charger amiibo missions), so I'd argue 4 is more capable of switching different weapons if need be. And sure, Agent 8 faces this challenge as well... But it's limited to 3 different weapons on each level. 4 handles all 9 on all levels. In my opinion, this is what makes Agent 4 stand out between the other agents. They can adapt to any setting at any time.

Japanese Splatoon books seems to show that 4 is very academically inclined, which is why they never heard of the Squid Sisters. Because they were too busy studying. This is different from most Inklings who are said to go to school somtimes but don't really care about it and often ditch class. I think that 4 could see 3 as a mentor and their relationship would be cool. Clearly I don't think that 4 will be in the main campaign, but I'm confident they'll be in the DLC. Maybe alongside 8. That would be cool. As you said Pearl and Marina have no idea who 4 is. Maybe that this DLC will be the chance to change that since Pearl and Marina will be in it.

Agent 3 used to also be overlooked before Octo Expansion. So yeah, Agent 4 does have a chance to shine.

4 is my favorite agent and I honestly would really love to see them in the next story mode, it's pretty sad that 4 is the least popular agent but I can understand why considering they were the protagonist of a story mode that was pretty much a copy paste of splat 1's making them forgettable because they were just agent 3's replacement. Basically a bland story mode's fault in a way, but yeah hope 4 gets more screentime

the cool thing is that because agent 4 only has Marie, in several comics she tends to treat Marie like a mother, and her enthusiastic personality is pretty cool.

They tried to separate them by putting 4 as energetic and 3 as mature, but the thing is 3 WAS the crazy one in Sp1atoon, and grew. I have a feeling, now that 3 is prob 18 now, that they'll just say 4 'matured' as well (16 now). Hope they retain their personality, doubtful.

Well Agent 4 did do ONE worthy thing, they reunited two cousins and brought back a classic band! I hope Agent 4 gets a better and more memorable role in Splatoon 3, I think it would be cool if she right now, she would help Marie with research research on this mysterious fuzzy ooze, and is a theorist and speculator, and it would be sweet if she was also Captain Green’s perky assistant, who is helping her adjust to her new role as captain, takes care of the some of heavy stuff when she needs to and always encourages Green to take it easy and go steady and not to work too hard. I think that would give us a bit more insight on the friendship between the two agents and the new captain.

I really hope 4 plays a role in Splatoon 3. They’re my favorite agent, thier personality compliments 3s and 8s perfectly, being goofy while the others are more serious.

Agent 4 is definitely my favorite of the agent’s. (The normal agents. Not the Squid Sister agents. They’re a different story.) I guess I have more of an attachment with Agent 4 because of the fact that the Splatoon 2 hero mode trailer really connected with me. When I first saw that trailer, I was blown away! I couldn’t help but love it! Agent 4 in my opinion also has the best looking art. They’re really underrated.

I think a good way to add agent 4 and maybe agent 8 into Splatoon 3 would be through DLC. It could be set in a salmon wasteland or something like that, or it could introduce a new species entirely! Alternatively, an orderly setting clashing with agent 4's chaotic personality could be cool and seeing how they would take on the environment could help develop personality. Speaking of which, a DLC focusing around agent 4 or at least giving her as much relevance as agent 3 had in Octo expansion could build an actual personality by giving backstory, cutscenes, and interactability (idk if that's even a word) either between your character or one of your team members. We know agent 8 has Octarian backstory as well as how they see each character (through men cake poems), and agent 3 used to be a DJ called DJ Sango and the whole rave party thing, as well as a few comments from Marie about their hygiene. But nothing about agent 4 was really revealed other than they like collecting the stickers from each place in Octo canyon. Also great vid! This was very well made for a first video and we'd love to see more!

An amazing first video. Keep up the good work! On a side note, I think Agent 3 is popular because of the Inner Agent 3 fight, and people like Agent 8 because "finally playable octolings." No-one remembers Agent 4 because nothing sparked popularity, being able to use 9 different weapons isn't enough for many people. To fix this Nintendo might need to give Agent 4 a better role in Splatoon 3, maybe as another field agent exploring Alterna or maybe even a boss who wants to kill Little Buddy because the villain has brainwashed her/him.

Agent 4 did the most beta testing for Sheldon, collecting weapon data and the such, maybe there'll be that connection in 3 if they do show up in the campaign (or hopefully DLC to not bloat the cast of the main campaign)

I’m betting agent 4 and 8 are on a mission together. Considering that none of the characters ever work “alone” (you always have Marie or the captain to guide you), it’s likely that the squid beak platoon never sends people on solo missions. This is backed up by the fact that the Captain and agent 3 were together for their mission during the octo-expansion. So, during splatoon 3, it is likely that agents 4 and 8 are on a mission together like agent 3 and the captain were during the Splatoon 2 story.

I have a weird theory on how can agent 4 be more related in splatoon 3 so in the final fest poster of splatoon 3 we can see a lot of characters on different sides, and agent 4 was on chaos and everybody knows that chaos won, and agent 4 is the only one of the playable agents that was on chaos so maybe because of that agent 4 might have a bigger role in splatoon 3 since the game takes place in splatsville the city of chaos

the weird thing to me is how Nintendo is in between playing as your own custom character, and playing as 1 constant character. the agents seem like they're blank slates to project onto, but have semi-canon designs and personalities (especially with old agent 3 being in splatoon 3 and octo expansion). i would much rather have the playable agents be actual characters with designs and personalities, because custom characters only work if there's only one

Honestly, Nintendo had truly created it's ultimate masterpiece with the Splatoon franchise, the fact that they had created a world that doesn't truly have any particular limits in creativity and style whether it be from a lore perspective or from a hardcore gamer perspective, while it may seem like there wouldn't be any other ideas to implement at first glance, theres actually way more room to add into the game itself without causing any colliding effect with the game's lore itself. The 2nd and 3rd game truly stand to what the creators had tried to state about the franchise as a whole: "An ever-growing product into an ever-changing world parallel to our own.". The second game shows the slow and steady rate of evolution from the first game and the third game showing the 'butterfly effect' based upon decisions that you as the player decided on from the second game which in turn is directly the form of a 'parallel' universe. In addition to this, this ideology has even further allowed fan-artists to implement their own ideas to this franchise without the concern of breaking the 4th wall too much or being limited to certain rules that if broken would make it too unrealistic to the franchise. This even further solidifies the idea of parallel universes where no world is truly the same as the other no matter which side of the spectrum they fall under. (note: Not hating on the other franchises or anything of the sort, but just commenting on this game in partiuclar)

Personally i think the best hope for agent 4 is that they arent in this game, but they are in splatoon 4. If The octarian plot is finished up in splatoon 3 and the splatoon 3 DLC is another kambo and/or 'shit humans left' plotline' Agent 4's best hope is that splatoon 4 is another plot, probably focusing on grizzco, and agent 4 can feature there. If agent 4 is in splatoon 3 in nearly any way it will feel forced and will do no good for their popularity.

in splatoon 4, they could showcase the personalities of the agents, plus you could maybe play as a previous one - like, in splatoon 4, you get to play as agent 4 again. it would also be cool if they got new (slightly altered) hairstyles to make them slightly more unique

I see agent 4 as squidbeak splatoon's resident wildcard, given that they are familiar with every single weapon type throughout the campaign. Being like that makes them very valueable to the team.

A detail I havent seen meantioned in this discussion is Marie's kind of stalking habit with 4, somehow knowing a bit too much about what they are up to. Its pretty funny and is obviously there to give the player some stats, but also I feel like 4 not showing up would lead to the question of where they went, not just with the audience, but with Marie

Agent 4's personality was best displayed via the official artwork, especially in one where the entire New Squidbeak Splatoon along with Agent 8, Pearl, and Marina are taking a group photo, and Agent 4 is depicted bombing the photo by being a silly blur right in front of the camera. As a skit writer, I used to make fan written Splatoon skits that didn't really go anywhere where I individualize Agent 4 as an excited and highly skilled inkling who's always ready for a challenge. I even gave my versions of the Agents their own names. I never knew that Agent 4 was considered 'forgotten' until I saw this and I always loved Agents 3 and 4. I love Agent 8 too, but I didn't include them in that sentence because they aren't an official Squidbeak Agent yet.

I definitely like agent 3’s redesign in splatoon 3. The scars on their tentacles definitely adds a nice touch

One thing that I would like to see in the Splatoon 3 hero mode is a way to appear again but also never return again but not without a reason. I think it would be cool to add popularity to Agent 4 by making them a canonical death without respawn. That would definately boost popularity and give a reason to have them never return to avoid agent confusion. Maybe Agent 4 could start as just a fellow agent in the Splatoon 3 story mode but sacrifices themself in order to save the rest of the cast from the big bad. Maybe for the final boss, we can be given a cutscene similar to the cutscene before the NILS statue showing all the agents so far and them entering the fight. They look around and can't see the bad guy. They seem confused until a giant robot arm appears out of a giant ink puddle and tries to grab new agent 3 (who you would be playing as) at a high speed too fast to shoot down. However, before the arm gets you, Agent 4 cements his place in the fandom as a memorable character by pushing you out of the way and getting grabbed. Time could then slow and it shows Agent 4 shedding a few tears with a sad smile. Everyone looking chocked and about to cry. And Agent 4 says their final words. Something along the lines of: "It was a pleasure to work with you all..." "I'm glad to go out saving a collea-no, a friend..." "Sorry I couldn't help fight but at least I did something?" The arm then goes back into the giant enemy ink puddle with Agent 4 still in it's grasp. Slowly, the big bad appears in a metal robot similar to the Octobot King however it is different because it is not Octavio and if Octavio is the big bad again I swear to god I will blow a fuse. The other agents could appear in the fight either only through dialogue or just through AI-controlled fighters working with you. When the battle ends, Agent 4's body is all that us left behind of the giant robot. They still have some energy as they open their eyes just enough to squint. They beckon the other agents over and we get a heartfelt cutscene of their final words and then they close their eyes to never open them again. We see the body go lifeless. We see the squid soul rise then difuse into the air. We see all the characters present crying at the loss of Agent 4. Marie especially for obvious reason. When we end the level, the Splatoon 3 idols who have to be involved in the hero mode somehow do the whole Splatsville News to announce the problem being fixed but give obvious hints of sadness and depression. The end credits song is sad and and depressing. When the credits end though, it will show a picture of all the agents at the scene of the final level with Agent 4's happy smile in the background up in the clouds. Mufasa style. We can even get Agent 4's uniform as gear as a reward for completing the storymode as well as our own uniform. Agent 8 could appear as just a regular agent and could be the one to deal the final blow to the Big Bad of Splatoon 3's hero mode. Dealing the final shot with the Octo Shot with tears in their eyes and an angry expression, Agent 8 finishes the Big Bad of the Splatoon 3 hero mode. I think it's fitting for Agent 8 to do it because they were the other protagonist in Splatoon 2. Agent 4 in the Splatoon 2 hero mode and Agent 8 in Octo Expan. Agent 8 could be the final one to speak with Agent 4 as well. It would be confusing on all the character creation for each agent but it's worth it i think.

In the direct, they said Splatoon 3's story is gonna be the finale, so by the time a fourth Splatoon game comes out, it's probably gonna have a completely different story and new characters.

I like to think as Agent 4 as the lone soldier. They were more than capable with every weapon class, were trusted to be sent on their own to save another agent. I think that deserves emphasis. Sure, maybe they saved the world, but their mission was to save another Agent. Maybe they're just retrieval. Maybe Agent 4 will be the one who finds Mr Grizz.

I think that 4 and 8 may be playing major parts in the Splatoon 3 DLC, although they might not. I think that the DLC, having Pearl and Marina, may go really deep into the roots of Splatoon. This is because they helped 8 in Octo Expansion, and how 8 and 4 can both use multiple weapons.

Agent 4 is undoubtedly my most favorite Agent in the whole franchise, out of all the Agent Protags, 4 seems like the chillest one of all. Besides, it’s not entirely their fault for their under-appreciation, their story is basically the same as Agent 3’s story. However, If there’s one thing Agent 4 will always have, it’s saving Callie and reuniting the Squid Sisters, really though I think all of us SS lovers and Captain Cuttlefish should be thankful to 4 about that. Also, you could say Agent 4’s “team” is Marie and Sheldon, considering Sheldon aided them with various hero weapons, sure he’s not Callie, but two characters is always better one. I hope Agent 4 and Agent 8 can get roles in Splatoon 3, maybe in DLCs. Seriously though, I thought Agent 4 would have a role in Splatoon 3’s story considering they (along with Callie) were on Team Chaos in the Final Fest, which ended up winning.

I'm guessing a lot of people who played Splatoon 2 tried to recreate their avatar from Splatoon 1, which has the really funny side effect of making it look like Marie went out into the street and grabbed the inkling she thought looked most like Agent 3 and made them a new agent.

Head-canon of mine: Agent 4 only communicates to Marie. Because of this, I feel like Agent 4 would go on more missions alone with Marie on mic. I also think that Agent 4 goes on missions so much or is so busy with school that their barley around, always doing things that take up their time. They always want to do something productive, whether it’s school, their job at Grizzco, or their job in the Squidbeak Splatoon.

Until this video, I didn’t even think to consider the agents as different characters because of the numbers’ since like you said they sort of feel like just another playable characters but this brought my attention to how cool and interesting this theory is.

I’ll always remember agent 4, Splatoon 2 was the second Nintendo Switch Game I got for my switch. It’s what started my love for Splatoon in the first place. Then after I played Splatoon 1 and Octo Expansion. Agent 4 will have a special place in my heart, cause they’re the first agent that got me hooked to the game.

Honestly you're right, 4 needs more love. (Nearly nicknamed her A4 until i remembered paper exists kek) As someone who is essentially chained to story mode and began in Splatoon 2, Agent 4 for me is like a representation of all the fun i am able to have in Splatoon 2 even without internet. She's a little bundle of chaos who seems to be so absorbed in her own little world that she doesn't even take an interest in popular music like the Squid Sisters. And that gets her flack from Marie as well. She's underrated and probably the type who starts fights because she thinks it's fun. I don't know, that's who she is to me. It's the fact that unlike the mature Agent 3 and the young and curious Agent 8 she doesn't have a canon personality. Funnily enough, the fandom seems to have decided that 4 is just chaos incarnate, nothing more nothing less, which makes me laugh.

I don’t see how Agent 3 can be hyped up when it’s the “Inkling” equivalent to Pokémon’s Red Also, to 4’s credit, Marie hints at possibly liking Agent 4 if you talk with her enough in Octo Canyon. She thinks 4 is cute and “smells better” on top of having the Facto-pedia on 4 after the Campaign ends

I mean agent 4 is also their respective game's default female inkling. For me it feels like they have very little personality besides happy? Octo expansion gave 3 a bit more of a personality, they felt more aged and passionate about their job. Especially now they are captain. 8 has kinda a personality? Not really but yk, their animations in octo expansion give off a very sheltered vibe but also not imcopetent. 4 atm is just blank, I think nearly all of their personality is fanon? All I can think of is that they're 'down for whatever' and idk if that's in the Japanese version of that post if there was one. I think for things to change nintendo would have to shift the intent of the agents from a vessel for the player to project onto into a solid character. And idk how well that would go down

if you ask me, I think maybe there'll be 1 or 2 more agents added to the series, and then just use the old agents for each campaign. it'll create an actual cast instead of just like "It's you!!!!" for every single player agent. also, not gonna lie, i couldn't tell that this was your first video in the slightest, you did really well!

Agent 4 is pretty badass and Nintendo needs to do more stuff with 4. I mean look at them, as an example they can defeat enemies with any weapon of their choice and has a good character design for hero gear. I really hope that 4 is in the dlc of Splatoon 3 because I really wanna edit them but theirs no cut scenes I I'm desperate for some because they are one of my favorite agents. Agent 4 is 100% my favorite. I always thought her flashy style was sick like the way she jumps into the levels and does a backflip to grab the weapons from Sheldon's deliveries when unlocking a new hero mode weapon

There's actually a very specific reason, from what we heard in the direct, as to why all the agents are back for *THIS* game specifically. They intend Splatoon3's singleplayer to be a finale for the current story; so yeah, it makes sense for the whole team to come together for it.

2:01 Sheldon does make an appearance in some hero mode stages (mainly the earlier Sheldon's request stages), but that's usually to give information about whatever weapon your using, not really another team member.

we have Captain 3 (the Boss: The squid running the operations) Agents 1&2 (Commanding Officers/ lieutenant , 2nd only to Captain 3) Strike Commander 4 (Field Ops) Agent 8 (Field Agent, Some put her as a Sargent, but idk) Neo 3 (Field Agent) (pearl and Marina Aren't actual/official Members of the squid beak Splatoon) To my understanding an knowledge this is the chain of rankings of ALL known OFFICIAL agents

My theory: Agent 4 will be teaming with Pearl and Marina alongside 8 in the DLC. As for the reason of why 4 never heard of the Squid Sisters, I like Chuggaaconroy's meta theory about it being that since Agent 4 is new in town, and the Switch is likely people's first time playing Splatoon, it represents a new player who probably never owned a wii-u joining in blind, having no idea who the Squid Sisters are.

You know one thing that hit me recently, Capt'n 3 Is now gonna be 21 (since time in Splatoon seems to be the same as our time. Like its kinda weird to think that quite a bit of time has passed since Splatoon 1.

I just love how this man has decided to make a video about, technically, us and out impact in Splatoon 2's single player campaign and how we should make an appearance to possibly "help" ourselves or have a role in Splatoon 3's single player. We are agent 4 (and agent/captain 3 and agent 8 and new agent 3) and I just find this fascinating. In terms of 4 being unappreciated, I do sort of blame Splatoon 2's first single player campaign since people complained about it being similar to Splatoon 1's single player campaign. I also feel like Octo Expansion is sort of to blame since it was a new feature with a challenge and a more story-driven change to single player. Lastly, I also blame Splatoon 1's single player campaign since not enough people had played Splatoon 1 to get the idea of what Agent 4 had to go through unless you were those who actually owned a Wii U and the first game and probably see Agent 3 as just a feature in Octo Expansion. Sorry for the rant. It's just a lot to process as someone who has played Splatoon since the first game.

A good idea is to put the agents in the game but in random locations of the lobby, some / most of them you can't interact with & they're mostly background characters like Out Of Bounds, out of the map, but you can see them from a distance. Therefore they're in the game, but it's lore friendly. Example: Story mode's lobby could have Agent 4 with a charged rifle chilling in/on a tower, however there's no way to talk to them or interact with them. Maybe they're off in the distance just chilling or talking on their phone or doing aim training.

It's stated that 4 was too busy doing curricular that's why she doesn't know who the squid sisters are, I hope shes featured in the DLC since she's my favorite agent

Honestly they are supposed to be a platoon Lots of room for agents. But If they are going to be their they should have their own personalities they already have unique outfits. Gives us more to talk to. And potentially give tips, tricks and maybe lore stuff. Older generation speaking to the older. Would be fun if their gear or speech differs like the slang or phrasings they use. With Agent 4 I can see them hanging around Marie a lot.

I never played the first game, so Agent 4 is my ride or die. She's literally the cutest. I do adore Agent 8 just as much, though. :)
