One of the things I am worried about when considering being a monk is a lack of working out. That said, that stack of kettlebells is telling another story. lol

1:50 "the cause of suffering is nothing else except craving" - yep that deep "desire" and commercial "need"

Craving is abandoned by the third noble truth: the development of wisdom. The development of wisdom is achieved by the fourth noble truth: the application of the Eightfold Noble Path.

Is seeing everything (six sense doors, 5 aggregates) as an illusion or a dream a valid way to end abandon craving?

Luciano ”In reference to the seen, there will be only the seen. In reference to the heard, there only the heard” etc.

Narren gave you the correct view. But to answer your question directly, no. Regarding whatever is sensed as an illusion or dream is not a valid way to end craving. Still, it can be beneficial to explore why regarding "everything" as an illusion is invalid.

@@SBCBears There however is the Lump of Foam sutta which does describe how to regard feelings and forms as insubstantial. And there is the part where consciousness is compared to a magic show or you could say illusion, so its not entirely wrong but without mindfulness it could be wrong and considered denial if you override all experience as illusory or unreal.

they are very much real which is why they are objects of grasping in the first place. the problem that causes suffering is not in the aggregates but in the grasping for it, which is beyond control in the first place.

Only Truth is real. And as the scriptures say: Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God (Nibanna). Thank you Bhante for clearing the WAY! 🙏
