I don't know if this would help as I only know info in Japanese, but usually the Japanese look up this page below or the likes to see the timing and phases of color changes throughout Japan. Click on the map. kouyou.nihon-kankou.or.jp/ Or, otherwise look up using the term "紅葉マップ." But sorry, I don't know any English page. Usually, aroud Kyoto, the best season is between end of Nov. and beginning of Dec. So, now (3 Dec.) is the best season of the year!
