Don't know just why, but ye lads crowded in the kitchen exemplifies to me the true spirit of Ireland and her music as much as anything I've seen. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí.
Since the late 19th century, hunters concerned about the future of wildlife and the outdoor tradition have made countless contributions to the conservation of the nation's wildlife resources. Today, millions of Americans deepen their appreciation and understanding of the land and its wildlife through hunting. Hunting organizations contribute millions of dollars and countless hours of labor to various conservation causes each year.
A group based out of Edgefield, South Carolina that works to increase wild turkey populations across the U.S. When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973 there were 1.3 million turkeys in the United States and 1.5 million turkey hunters. Today there are 6 million wild turkeys and 2.6 million turkey hunters.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is a key player in the conservation of elk habitat in the Rocky Mountains and across the U.S. Elk populations are high and stable due to the work of this group. Pheasants Forever works to increase and protect the Ring neck pheasant population in the United States.
One of the main ways hunters work to conserve wildlife is through conservation groups. The foremost goal of these groups is to conserve habitat therefore increasing animal populations. By conserving this habitat hunters not only help increase the populations of the game animals they pursue, but also the multitudes of species that inhabit these areas.

@joetubealong Great music from these lads... very talented lads. Your comment reminds me of early childhood memories of my Dad and his friends, who were in a Céili band together. The used to rehearse in my Dad's tailoring workshop and they became known as 'Cutting Room Sessions'
@sillybabybunnies It was already clear that when the time came to say goodbye to the corn from our acre, we would never know exactly where it would end up. After the crop is delivered to the elevator, following corn into the food system becomes a game of probability. Of the 10,000 pounds of corn our acre is likely to produce, 32% will be either exported or turned into Ethanol. And more than half our crop, a full 5,500 pounds, will be feed to animals to become meat.
Ducks and geese are just a small part of the biodiversity of a wetland environment. When these groups buyback and establish new wetland areas the multitude of other species such as frogs, blue herons, fish, hawks, and numerous other species are reaping the benefits of improved habitat.
The Service Regulations Committee considers both the Council and MBMO recommendations, then forwards its recommendations for annual regulations to the Service Director. Once regulatory proposals are approved, they are published in the Federal Register for public comment. After the comment period, final regulations are developed, which are then signed by the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.
Land ownership and leasing is another way in which sport hunters help the economy as well as the environment. Twenty percent of the total expenditures in 2001 went to purchasing and leasing land. This land, which is mostly forested area, would otherwise go unused if not for hunting
When deer are not dear - Farmers, landowners, drivers, and outdoor recreationists all benefit from hunters harvesting the white-tailed deer population in Virginia. Hunting reduces pressure on crops, protects expensive landscaping, cuts down on deer in the roadways, and prevents deer overgrazing an area and destroying habitat needed by other wildlife such as songbirds
This service recognizes that in many cases, hunting is an important tool for wildlife management. Hunting gives resource managers a valuable tool to control populations of some species that might otherwise exceed the carrying capacity of their habitat and threaten the well-being of other wildlife species, and in some instances, that of human health and safety.
Hunter conservation groups are nationally run organizations that contribute large amounts of money and time all across the United States. Some of these groups are the National Wild Turkey Federation.
The often-overlooked point is that hunters are the one of the most important conservation groups in the United States today. Their hard work, dedication, and love of their sport is probably the best thing that has happened to the wildlife of North America.
This list of hunters conservation groups is only a small example of some of the larger nationally organized groups working towards not only improving the habitat of the game animals they pursue but the habitat and populations of all creatures who inhabit areas that sportsmen like to visit.
•12.5 million people 16 years old and older enjoyed hunting a variety of animals within the United States. They hunted 220 million days and took 185 million trips. Hunting expenditures totaled $22.9 billion.
In the 1970’s, however, state governments and the federal government began to realize the rights and importance of wildlife and made it their responsibility to protect them. Since then wildlife management has been one of the most concentrated and controversial issues in the government.
Migratory bird treaties with other countries govern the management of migratory birds in the USA, distinguishing those species that can be hunted from those that can't and establishing outside limits on hunting-season dates and season lengths.
@sillybabybunnies I think foxhunting is so cool!! Especially the part where the dogs rip that stupid little fox limb from limb! I hope every fox in the world gets to enoy the thrill of the chase so we can all have a foxtail mounted on our mantles :o)

@sillybabybunnies I would say the same to you, but I think I already made my point by telling you that attacking the title of an ancient tune and ranting on about how horrible foxhunting is makes about as much sense as accusing a volcano of adding to the greenhouse effect by polluting the air. Go find an issue that is actually relevant.
Local hunting clubs and national conservation organizations work to protect the future of wildlife by setting aside thousands of acres of habitat and speaking up for conservation in our national and state capitals.
@sillybabybunnies On and on and on and on..........Nobody cares. Wah, wah, wah. We're the top of the food chain. If the dogs and foxes don't like the way they're being treated, let them do something about it. Until they evolve thumbs and a prefrontal cortex it's tough bannanas for them :o)
Each year, nearly $200 million in hunters' federal excise taxes are distributed to State agencies to support wildlife management programs, the purchase of lands open to hunters, and hunter education and safety classes.
@usmcboi13 Oh come on!!!You can't be serious judging "greek people" in general by some idiots(not to name them worse way:-()that attacked you!!! It's not fair!!( btw, really sorry for what happened) I don't know if you're Irish, but I must say I really like Ireland in total(music,history-just breathtaking-dance...) Thanks for your wishes!Oh, and if you ever find yourshelf interested in good greek music as well (you know, it brings ppeople from all over the world together too;-)just let me know
The money from this hunting, including money from licenses, ammunition, firearms, and taxes from theses items, has been used almost solely for the preservation and conservation of wildlife habitats. These habitats encourage wildlife to survive and thrive and ensure that these species will be around for many generations to come.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife has been continually checking and balancing wildlife numbers so they are at there peak populations without starvation or overpopulation. Hunting, regulated under state law, has played a large role in controlling the populations of these wildlife species.
Thousands of years ago, it may have been hunting that caused the mass extinction of the North American large land mammals. In the 1940’s and 50’s some of today’s most prominent game animals were almost non-existent.
Without hunters animal populations would become overwhelming and run out of control not to mention the millions of acres that America’s hunters are working to protect would be at risk for take over from development and be subject to degradation
Wildlife populations throughout time have fluctuated widely for natural reasons and some unnatural reasons. Human habitation and deforestation have put some animals near the brink of extinction or beyond. Changes in climate, natural predation and massive environmental changes have also done the same. Finally, hunting, in the past, may have also caused the extinction of some species.
There is a negative view of hunter’s ethics that is wrong; in reality hunting is an essential conservation tool. With decreasing amounts of habitat animal populations are expanding with no place to go. There are two ways to deal with these problems; reduce the amount of animals or create more habitat, both of which are done by hunters.
Oh, yes. I am so upset. And no, I will not someday learn. The thing that I have accepted and the thing that YOU TWO apparantly cannot accept is the concept that people by nature disagree. I can disagree with you and am able to live with it. You think that your way of thinking is the ONLY way and there is no room for dissent. I on the other hand have my own belief system, BUT I accept that you have yours and am content to let it go at that. You, in your arrogance, have it all figured out.
@sillybabybunnies Blah blah blah blah blah. The facts are as follows: Humans = top of the food chain. Bacon = meat candy. Meat = tastes great! And all your little articles on how cruel we are and oh the poor animals will NEVER change the fact that you will NEVER win. We will ALWAYS hunt, ALWAYS eat meat. The meateaters will always be here and there isn't one thing you can do about it. Now go ahead and post your gay little articles and have the last word like I know you will do.
