The "full" story behind THAT EYE!

Support the mission @ MCrider: www.MCrider.com/support
For this video I take a couple of steps back from motorcycles and address something that has created a mini discussion on MCrider. Many of you have asked what is wrong with my left eye. In this video I answer the question and tell you a little of the story about me.
It was kind of weird opening up so much on camera and kind of long winded...but you are the ones who asked the question, so it's not my fault.
Grab some popcorn and sit back as I tell you the story of my freaky eye.

Being taught how to ride from the other side of the world by a Texan baseball playing combat priest...This is why the internet is great! Dude I love the eye, it locks you into a cowboy stare and helps with your natural ability to hold peoples attention. I have learned so much from this channel. You may not be saving lives in the army but you sure are here with educating us all on how to stay safe. Amazing work man. Once I pay off a bit of my new bike I will drop some cash on supporting the show. Keep staring em down Tex. Coming at you all the way from New Zealand.

I, too, returned to motorcycling after a long time off a bike. I immediately appreciated both your delivery and your innate humility. You’re a kind man, and it comes through. I’ve learned a LOT about safety on my bike from you.- so yes, you’re making a difference, Kevin. That’s not an exaggeration. Thanks for modeling your humility and comfort with yourself with your story. I’ll continue to recommend your channel to to others.

"God didn’t keep Daniel from the lion’s den; He met him in it. He didn’t keep Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace; He joined them in it. He didn’t keep Joseph from being a slave to Potiphar; He gave him favor in it. And He met him in the prison as well. The details and the connections between different parts as well as the build, the a pax, till the satisfyingly end. It was amazing listening to you tell your story. Write it in a book it will become best seller. Maybe even a movie. Trust me, it is worth it.

I must admit, as an atheist, I almost stopped watching when God's name cropped up. But I've watched a few of your videos and consider you an articulate and intelligent guy, so I watched to the end, out of respect for the great job you're doing. As it happens, I found your story very interesting. I commend you for your bravery in sharing both your story and your beliefs and share your happiness that you discovered another path to a fulfilling life. I've been riding bikes for over 40 yrs, here in the UK, but I'm still picking up useful tips watching your videos. So, good luck for the future, and keep them coming. Respect.

Hey David, thanks for watching to the end. I'm glad you did. Not because I want to try to convince you of anything but because it is refreshing for someone to listen these days even when they don't agree. Thank you for not following the norms these days and only listening to what you agree with. I believe it is only by listening to each other that we can see the heart of the other person. Even if we don't agree with how they got to where they are we can at least respect their motivation for getting there. You are a good man! Glad to have you as a subscriber.

Dear Sir/MCrider, Thank you so much for this video. It is truly a great story full of life's milestones: heartbreak, love, fulfillment, goals, struggle, etc. I am so glad I found out about your channel. I love your calm demeanor. I, like David Green, am an atheist. Growing up, I wasn't really raise to believe a religious doctrine. Then I became a very strong Christian for 10 years or so (~15-25 y.o.?). But now, on a scale of 1-7, would say that I tend towards 6.75 as an atheist). Anyhow, both your two comments are great examples of conversation without demeaning the other. Anyhow, my real question is, I have been riding for around 3.75 months now. I had the idea when I first started motorcycling those few months ago, that I would get the very basics of motorcycle control (balance, clutch, braking, etc.), and then I would take an MSF course. My thinking was that I didn't want to be distracted by the super basic things, and miss the real great tips I could learn from the course. Now that I am quite comfortable with riding, I'm starting to doubt a need for taking a course (at least the Basic course). Maybe I should take a more advanced course? But you have thrown a "wrench" into that idea, too. My thinking is that I should be able to get all I need to know from online resources, and channels such as yours. What is your opinion on this? Thank you, huyked
@bmfilmnut
@bmfilmnut 7 лет назад
I almost stopped watching his videos for the same reason. I don't like people preaching their religion to me either. But, unlike you, I didn't find his story interesting at all. In fact, I found it bizarre and a bit creepy. I watched it because it was so weird that I had to see where it was going. When he sticks to motorcycle technique, his videos are good but I'm not sure I can watch them anymore after seeing this. David: I suggest that you keep your religion to yourself and stick to motorcycle technique. You are good at that. The fact that you feel that you must spill your guts to total strangers and post your life story under the guise of a video about an eye condition is very odd. It's misleading too. It says something a bit disturbing about you.

Exactly the same here. I don't know if it's unusual for an antheist but I have quite a few religious friends, so I know most Christians aren't sience denying, pious, self righteous dicks, but it's always nice to meet someone who lives the "Word" even if I don't believe in it. Respect man

I would recommend taking the course anyway. I took it, although I had slightly less time on the bike than you. It was an awesome experience. Some of the info was stuff I already knew, but there were great tips, hands on exercises done with experienced riders to critique and improve your skills, and it gave me a definite increase in confidence. Totally worth the money, even if I had to scrimp for it.

I am a 57-year-old woman and I have been riding exclusively for the last 6 years. I have no car, just the bike. And even though it is my sole transportation for all the mundane things in life, like grocery shopping, I still get so excited everytime I get to ride! It is a passion. I, too, am a Christian and I, too, have a freaky eye. Three years ago I inexplicably lost sight in my right eye. I went through brain surgery (I don't recommend it!) and am still blind (i see a little of my periphery) and that eye is not the same as my left either. I love your videos. I am always looking for ways to improve as a rider, so thanks for the tips!

I am not a religious person but I really liked the way you brought it into this conversation without preaching. The lack of humility in our world is at times overwhelming and this video gives me some comfort that there are humble folks "online". My son goes to school at West Point and I often think of the sadness and frustration he would feel if something happened that removed the army from his career path. Due to a birth defect in my heart we did not know I had, two heart operations and another severe line of duty injury I am no longer in the fire department and I am very much like you looking for my next calling. I have problems with fears and anxieties after my experiences as a fire department but I love to ride and ride most of the time even on the winter. I am a Pastor so I really appreciate your being open about your Christianity and your calling and totally understand your need to fill that gap and do what God would have you to do! His ways are way above our ways and we usually don't understand why we go through things until later. Kevin. I'm not sure how I happened across your channel; maybe a passion for motorcycling introduced me. I was thoroughly engrossed in your story, and as a now retired British Royal Marine Commando, entirely empathise with your unfortunate accident that cut short such a promising and passionate career. In terms of where you are now, I'm a firm believer that we have to make the most of the cards that we are dealt, and that if that can involve paying back through helping and developing others, it is not only credible but also a calling and personal reward. I'm glad I stumbled across your channel, you clearly hold all of the virtues, ethos and values of your time serving your country and now as a veteran and also demonstrate a shining example of not giving up. Keep doing what you do, and I wish you the greatest of success and happiness. Lee

Thanks for sharing! Found your channel just over a month ago. Took the MSF course, got my class M license, then bought my first motorcycle two days ago. God works in mysterious ways... I'm thankful I found you at the start of my motorcycle journey!

Just remember Warrior, it's never over. I served and paved the way for many of us who came later. You service is greater than many can imagine, so from a former Marine and now Army soldier I personally want to say "Thank You"; for telling you story, inspiring us to never give up and for what you have given to this country. Hoo'ah

Thanks so much for the background info on how MCRider came to be. Very interesting. I've had only minimal vision in one eye since birth and have NEVER found it an impediment to doing anything I wanted to do. Very happy you worked through it.

Thanks Chris, I told my wife not long after it happened that it if it didn't clear up it would drive me nuts. Now I rarely notice it. Thanks for watching.

Dear Kevin, thank you for sharing your story with us. It is sad to hear how your military carrier came to an end. There must be a reason for that which we don't understand. Your McRider youtube is so interesting can't wait for the next one. I am not a Motorbike rider but I enjoy them very much. I am 70 now and will most probably never ride a bike. It makes a lot of sense the way you explain things. Please keep it coming. Thank you. Regards Jurg

That was beautiful, thank you so much, again, for what you are doing. Your softly spoken words, thoughtfully arranged, are pulling me in, as a late-in-life, revisiting cycle rider. You inspire through love, and that is the best way. Entertainment is great, so is humor, and fun (and frightening) cycle videos that keep things exciting. But it is your love that I feel, and that will take us all the furthest.

Tonight as I was searching looking for videos to help me do training. I came up on one of your videos and i have watched several of them today and I didn't even notice your eye. I started watching gear and gadgets when you mentioned your eye and I was like well whats wrong?? I think I was listening more to your message and what you are trying to teach. Regardless thanks for sharing it is inspiring and carries a great message to continue searching and not to give up. Keep up the good work and I look forward to many more video's. One more thing THANK YOU for your service!
