Today I’m going to dive into the full story of King Runeard! Let’s dive into the king who appeared to be generous, understanding, and kind, but was truly a fear mongering leader. We are going to understand his rise, his mission, and eventually how his regime’s ideology was crushed by his granddaughters. Let’s explain the origin, backstory, and death of Elsa and Anna’s grandfather.

He would be turning over in his grave if he found out what happened to his "precious legacy." 1. His only son not only married out of love, but to a Northoldria woman 2. Said son only produced 2 girls, no sons; technically biracial 3. His eldest granddaughter has magical powers 4. His second granddaughter almost married a man that would have met his expectations, but instead ended up like her father by marrying a commoner out of love

It's interesting to see how someone who looked so loving and caring toward others can be nothing but a monster. In the end, Runeard let hate and fear consume him and attack a peaceful tribe instead of getting to know them. To live among them and understand their ways would have been the appropriate course of action

jf k i really love that because it goes to show that sometimes the new generation can become much better than the old generation. A good example has to be the relationship between zuko and his father Ozai from the animated series Avatar the last airbender. (SPOILER ALERT IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T SEEN AVATAR) Ozai was a horrible firelord who preferred hatred, violence and destruction and even used his soldiers to attack and trying to take over nations all for himself, he didn't cared about the peace and harmony that all four nations had years ago, he was selfish and cruel that he wanted to be the only ruler of the whole world. Then there's his son zuko, at first he started off as a villain from the beginning of the series but he slowly learned that all this war was never worth it, and decides to help aang and his friends to defeat the fire nation in order to bring peace once again. I really love that because both zuko and Agnarr saw that all this war and violence was only bringing suffering and pain, and they both did a lot of selfless things for the good of their people.

I know she and Eugene get married, meaning she will also co-rule the Dark Kingdom, because Eugene is the heir to the king. In the Grimm Brothers story, Rapunzel has twin daughters, which is also shown in Ever After High, so probably she would have twin girls. One twin would get to rule Corona and the other the Dark Kingdom. Anything else would have to be confirmed.

When Anna and Kristoff have kids, I hope they don't go down the path of every Disney parent, being that some random tragedy happens and they somehow not survive. But I think they'll be fine and have an amazing life. They've gone through thick and thin, nothing they can't handle. And nice joke Isaac 😂

You always make some of the best points in video, Isaac. And I applaud you for that. I liked how you pointed out when talking about King Runeard that division is not something that will work long term. In fact, I believe that dividing people is never the answer. It's like Elsa says in the film Frozen II, "Fear is what can't be trusted". Also, if it's alright, I'd like to suggest an idea for a future video. Could you do a video about the history of The Little Mermaid. I've seen you make videos about the history of other Disney films like Lilo & Stitch and The Emperor's New Groove. And I think it'd be awesome if you could talk about the history of the film that started the Disney Renaissance.

I wonder what Runeard would do if he survived somehow and found out that one of his grandchildren has magic? As mentioned, his goal was to make Arandelle _perfect_ and sort of invincible against foes. With that said, would he like that Elsa have magic and _use_ her and maybe train her to fight in wars, increasingly Elsa's inner conflicts. Becoming a bit of a perfectionist and have lots of insecurities? Or would he despise her, and constantly bully her as she grew, totally having the same effects but somewhat worse, and the 1st movie might have had a heavier plot?

@Isaac Carlson You need to read the AgnarrxIduna prequel novel, Dangerous Secrets. Mari Mancusi, the author, consulted with the Frozen filmmakers while writing it, which makes it one of the few books and other printed media to be canon to the franchise. Besides telling about Agnarr and Iduna's pasts before they married, not only does it reveal that Runeard was an even worse man than Frozen II shows (and implies about him as a father to Agnarr), but it also reveals some information about Rita, much of which retcons your statements and theories in this video. It doesn't completely explain his motives, but is revealed is that Rita's absence is a contribution to Runeard's abhorrence towards magic.

A theory: it's hinted in the first movie that the people of Arendelle are wary of magic and it is also hinted that they have a religious views (the church and the father during the coronation). It could be that the king had that view as well or he's just a jerk that hates people whp are different for no good reason and first thought is "oh no they'll take my crown away"

I don't think Agnarr and Iduna were the only ones to escape the Enchanted Forest when the curse fell. I'm pretty sure a good number of the Arendellan guard escaped with them. Who else would've pulled the wagon the two children were placed on by the Wind Spirit (who even hid Iduna under that blanket to protect her)? Who else would've told the recently orphaned prince about the barrier of mist? Who else would've brought Agnarr back to Arendelle across that long distance from the Enchanted Forest? And then we need to consider the deleted beginning scene. It showed many people making a break for the Forest's edge when all hell broke loose. Many people that made it before Agnarr and Iduna. Whose to say that didn't happen in the final cut offscreen with most of the Arendellan guard? Those are the biggest reasons why I think that Agnarr and his future queen weren't the only ones to escape the Enchanted Forest before the Mist trapped everyone still within its borders inside...

A clip from one of the trailers showed a young Idunna carrying a reindeer, so I think she had an affinity with animals and was able to hook up some horses and get them to take them back to Arendelle. I believe the deleted scene you're referring was for an early story line they ultimately abandoned.

@@ethenallen1388 You don't think I know that scene was from an earlier concept idea? Of course I did. Even if Iduna had an affinity for animals, she had no way of knowing just WHERE Arendelle was. And considering there was NO WAY she could've hidden the fact the fact that she was Northuldra if she was the only one other than Agnarr to return to Arendelle (especially from Agnarr himself for years on end), there had to be more people that escaped the Forest before the Mist fell.

@@Atea1793 Kristoff's dress and love of reindeer suggest he is of Northuldra descent; perhaps one of his family members fled the forest and/or helped Iduna. "A Frozen Tale" shows an Arendellian family sharing a tale of the forest spirits, so, they're likely descended from Northuldran refugees, too.

Do you have a degree in psychology? Since you are quite insightful into breaking down a person's psychological profile and figuring out who their are heart and mind. You also have a good command of language which makes you even more entertaining to listen too. So what exactly were your fields of study? How did you get so insightful, smart and be able to analyze but still feel the emotions? I really want to know.

It’s not exactly about magic, king Runeard doesn’t believe in anything but himself because he never showed any love to his family and refused to accept his own faults. He even wanted to raise his son (Anna and Elsa’s father) to be just as evil and ruthless as he is.

I love your videos but his name is Runar. It’s a Norwegian name. It’s also very sad how they changed the name of our native people: sápmi. (I’m Norwegian and some of the content in the movie upset me cause they didn’t do enough research🥺)

Honestly runerd is a bad king.father. And villain like he had no reason to be afraid of the northaldran the two people had a friendly relationship they were in nowhere possible a threat to arrendle he is the one that declared the war for literally no reason also why the heck did he brought his son on the day he's declareing the war like do you have no concern to your son?? Anlike in the deleted scenes where he was actually showing concerne for his son and he built a dam that can literally DESTROY His Own Kingdom that's extremely damp honestly I found him a way worse villain than Hans and more forgettable than bellwether (from zoologist)

What you think about Hans in that matter? Because I thonk he's sudenly channed is just the biggest scriptwriters mistake. I miss this sweet loving prince Hans.He was so conected to Anna,I never uderstand why they made him a villan. Kristoff fits better for Elsa.

Hey Wotso I do agree with you there King Runard plan of keeping people divided is a very awful thing indeed but unfortunately as much as I hate saying this if it hadn't been for him the Kingdom of arnedelle wouldn't existed or Queen Elsa and Queen Anna would have not been born as well but don't worry at least it was still good he created a good son still at least King Angerr is a great king and Queen Idana is an amazing woman from her trible they did make did well at getting the unity of the lands great and with Kristoff as the future King of arndelle things will get better since he comes from the land of the trolls so it will be a triple unity when that time comes indeed so let's hope frozen franchise has more bright futures to show one day indeed Wotso let's hope so

I know this isn’t a popular opinion but he was a king of his time. He loved his son and he did care about his people and kingdom. So he isn’t truly evil. He is greedy, power hungry and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his throne. But than again that was pretty much every king. Also you can tell he was putting his home first. He wasn’t a good man. far from it but I wouldn’t call him evil. He just let fear control him and committed some horrible acts. In order to Defend his home that he falsely thought was being threatened.
