Truth be told when it came to street smarts, profit, money, and control Riley was probably one of the smartest characters. That's what made him not only entertaining but one of the most interesting in the show.
I mean...he's the product of the brash and commercialized hip hop scene (or gangsta rap) of the '90s and 2000s, so it'd make sense for Riley to be street smart
