I remember watching her 100th birthday parade on television in Canada and then her funeral a year later. She seemed like such a sweet lady in the celebration, I was only 11 when she died, and I cried.

I was at the Queen Mother's 100th at Buckingham Palace and I saw her and King Charles in a golf cart up close exiting Clarence House. She was very happy.

Yeah. That’s what I like about the Crown, they recreate history using historic footage as a guide. They also copy the same camera angles of historical footage as well.

A lot of people do that during funerals in order to cope with the feelings they experience during it. My aunt actually read a storybook to me during her grandfather (my great-grandfather)'s funeral in order to cope with it. She knew I wasn't fully aware of what a funeral was because I was still very young, and she needed something to do. No one stopped her or said anything bad about what she was doing. My parents actually gave her their blessing to do this since while I was a good child who listened when her parents told her how to behave at the funeral, I was still an impatient one. It helped me get through it too. After I lost both my grandfathers within the space of two months, I understood completely then and there why she did what she did. Some people cry, some people need to talk, some people just need something to do because that's what funerals do to people: grieve.

Even tho i liked this season, i didn’t like this. The Queen mother was almost completely cut out of this season (and has been playing a really small part in the resent seasons). We didn’t even get to see her 100th birthday (The longest living member of the royal family in Britains history, at the time). And in all scenes she was in she came out as a delusional alzheimers patient with bad hearing, even tho she did her last duty at the age of 101, and was present at her daughters funeral, just 6 weeks before her own death.

Her late Majesty did not stand mute during the singing of 'Cwm Rhondda' at the funeral of Her late Majesty (!) Elizabeth II always sang the hymns throughout. She knew them by heart and found them deeply inspirational. I concede that it makes for better drama if she's seen looking around - doubtless thinking of the next funeral of a queen to be held in the Abbey....

It's a drama based on biography, but still a drama. We're supposed to connect to her emotionally. And most people can't "show must go on" like she could so to speak. It's meant to make her more available emotionally since so many had a hard time doing that for her. So this series is allowed to make these things

This song was one of my favorite hymns growing up as a Methodist. While our Anglican brothers and sisters use it, it’s actually a Methodist hymn. The way they use it in this scene (recreating a historical scene from real life) makes it so powerful. While I criticize Netflix a lot for its crappy content (especially in regards to kids shows), I have to say some of their shows I really like with their usage of Christian music in smart ways even when their shows are certainly by no means Christian….

I was going to say Duke of Gloucester wearing his Air Force uniform but this guy doesnt have glasses and Sir Tim Laurence would be wearing a Navy uniform, not Air Force, plus he isnt a Knight of the Garter.
