came across these sounds while clicking “random song” on a video game soundtrack site and immediately started lolling. anyways this game ruled (Wii Fit gameplay footage via @ModernXP_ and @GaplekBehemoth)
The very thin’s even funnier because they literally just start shaking their head, flapping their arms, and sinking into a crouching position like “Auuugh gawd”
I swear we used to have this in the living room and everyone would play it and someone would step on it and it would go “ouch” or “uh oh” something like that 😭
I played this with my neighborhood friends as a somewhat chubby kid… I tell you what, a deep scar was formed when that cute little voice went “that’s obese! :D” and my friends practically pissed themselves laughing 😂💀
As someone who got that sound a lot, I actually liked the way they handled it growing up. The sound design is funny which helps make light of the situation (no pun intended) and the mii is a bit surprised but he's not really sad and goes back to chilling right away. They reminded you that good form is key for your health but they didn't judge you.
@@pieperson444it probably still had a kid height set. But that sounds terrible and like a disorder waiting to happen if you didn’t know about the age and height setting ☠️
@@VEE0034 you’d be surprised, the Wii fit was such a smash hit, everyone was playing it. Technically it was for fitness but playing with your friends was a lot of fun too.
I'll never forget the time my aunt was trying to play Wii Fit, and the game flat out told her that she weighed too much to play it. Adding insult to injury, the Wii balance board said "Ouch!" when she stepped on it 💀
I remember me and my grandma playing this game and when it called her obese she just stared at me with a offended look and said “this wii is fucking mean”
I remember when my family was all creating our Miis. My dad was so large his character literally popped. I remember it so vividly. We were all crying laughing for AT LEAST 10 minutes. Good times.
I don't know what's worse, the very obese jingle sounding like a punch line jingle from a Looney Toons episode, or how passive aggressive the Wii Balance Board was when you step on it.
I legit used the cross country trainer each morning until i was comfortable and confident enough to run outside all those years ago. Probably saved my life. amazing
I remember my little sister in 1st grade crying because the game called her obese when in reality it was just because the game wasn't programed to understand the BMI of small children.
@@Burst_AOkids learn new words every time they encounter them. If you read words you don't know, you try to figure them out from context. The younger they are the more adept their brains are at doing this. These days it's as easy as copy pasting the word into Google, or even speaking it into your phone if you don't know how it's spelled. Assume kids know all the words unless they tell you otherwise, they're a lot smarter than you think.
@@hundredfireifyit’s especially because i’m from north east colorado one of the fittest places in America and there are barely any obese people other than the occasional at chick fil a. when i go to visit family in virginia or california it astounds me the amount of obese people here.
Huh wonder why definitely not because of a bunch of mega corps racking up the prices of actual food and forcing the average us citizen to have to eat extremely unhealthy while also making them work a extremely busy work week that makes home cooking on a normal basis impossible
Use this video as a reminder to update your wii fit + height My mii was constantly obese because my height was stuck at 4'8" for years before I actually fiund out how to change my height
That sound effect was the first push I needed to lose over 150 lbs, and the first 50 were probably exclusively Wii Fit. It was so brutally soul crushing that it tore down every mental block and excuse I had.
Thats amazing 👏 i dont think the game makers wanted anyone to cry or be upset tho, just wanted to make you frustrated with being unhealthy n push you to work hard
I always loved the happy “that’s obese!:D” Both me and my sister stood on the scale for a fake Mii that we created just for this purpose. I laughed every time.
@@OhNoBobright haha this is so funny that they made fake obese characters haha i totally didn’t register as obese as a kid on wii fit and then get lasting body issues haha
We pulled the game out after not playing it for a while, so my sister had grown nearly a foot since she last played, and then it gave her this and she started crying as my parents tried to explain why it did that and not to be worried.
My friend wanted to try Wii Fit at my place, and when she got to this part, she made me go to another room so I don't see the results. She screamed when the sound effect played.
I'd always hear the too thin as a kid. Then one time after not playing for 4 years I forgot to change height and I was classified obese, and I almost cried
Old Nintendo didn't care about your feelings. New Nintendo will slit your throat, collect your blood to paint their joy-cons and then DMCA your funeral.
@deadfr0g I don't think it was meant to be an insult or should it be considered one. Japanese people are much different then those of us in the west. They tell it like it is, no need to waste time for lies, pleasantries and nonsense. I guess that's why Japans obesity rate is 4% and the US is what? Half? 😂
I feel you. It's worse if they're already aware and literally there to do something about it. Just rub it in our face why don't you?! WII did not think it through
@@heroiclibrarian3967Japan has a very ... insensitive and judgemental culture unfortunately. Not saying that we don't as well, just that I'm not terribly surprised this happened.
@@juliagoetia Insensitive is letting people literally go into cardiac arrest because they're never told the truth. Japan isn't insensitive, we in America are morons.
I don’t understand what's wrong with this. I'm overweight, and the only thing keeping me from eating all the ice cream in the friezer is a wake-up call of my BMI.
