At 13.12 Yvonne went WA WA WA. .......I use that term. :-). My peppermint story is, A customer used keep her mints in the tack trunk. One night the horse,,an escape artist, got both dubbed latches open, got out OPENED ALL THE OTHER STALL DOORS and they had a party going through all the tack trunks !!! took me 3 hours to just get the barn back to a normal start........I wish I had cameras then........

This is a first. I've never heard a horse going "Me! Me! Me!" before. The Queen demanding more made me laugh more than I have in a long time! It was like a bunch of kids in a car shouting "are we there yet?" LOL
This was good fun. Lianne tossing them across the stable was hilarious. How brave of Hilary to try to speak Frisian in her video about her beautiful Harry. I hope 2022 is going well for everyone!
My husband is Dutch and Dutch peppermints are very strong. The American Life Saver kind with the hole, and the Star Brite red/white ones are sweeter. However my mare hates all of them, she has never been a peppermint lover. And she likes most all other treats including various human foods. She loves the taste of a vanilla latte in particular 😃
Watched the video and was laughing the entire time. Uniek is so full of personality and very beautiful. Loved watching each horse try the mints. Got to see my baby Rising Star. You all are so wonderful with the horses. Also Harry is just gorgeous.
Leanne was so funny today, I needed that laugh. Uniek wasn't having any attention on anyone other than her today, she wanted more peppermint. No way better to start your day than to watch your favorite horses and favorite people. Have a great day everyone.

Very funny video, I love when Yvonne & Geertje do videos together. To get mints, Uniek pushed Geertje but only tickled Yvonne, think she was showing her favortism. Klaske preferred Geertje to any mint. Lianne flipping the "serving tray" made me laugh. On your other taste tests, the younger horses usually don't try something new it seems so Mathilde surprised me when she ate them. I think the big winner was Geertje's cake pan; most horses wanted to play with or chew on it. Thanks for another great video.

For myself I buy hard red and white like Beach's but of 3 kinds all taste different and. I only like 1 I don't bite just let melt. The white of both kinds are softer and can be bitten. Walmarts in the US. also sell big bags of red and whiite which have large mints that taste ok and are soft enough to be easily bitten. The horses may like those. Lastly there are some little square ones called afterdinner mints that are soft with a little jelly inside wrapped in cellophane that restaurant's used to put next to cash registers. They have a very light flavor. The horses may like those. Basically just sugar not peppermint Love your videos and all the animals and people 💗 Stay safe. 😊
@@donalynschumann1275 -- somehow humans can't seem to figure out how to give voters a real choice in political candidates -- but _candy!_ Candy gives us a flood of choices! Horses (and other animals with similar teeth and eating habits) might prefer the actual plant (several choices there, too). Planted in sandy, shady, damp places, mint also can scare away bugs. For food, the gentle yellow-ish, squarish butter mints are about as pepper or spearminty as I want to taste. :)

It was fun to see some horses tasted the mints seriously, but spit them out at the end 😬 While 👑Uniek was yelling for more, her boy Risey was only interested in eating hay 😂💛💛
Reinjte is always the most adventurous when it comes to food...she is the foodie in the herd! Surprised at Mathilde doing so well with the peppermints! Her Mem Sjirkje is so fussy. I love Yvonne and Geertje's friendship. The fact that they have been friends since school days is awesome. They are like two school girls going off on their adventures. Uniek always makes me smile when she kicks and stomps to get more treats.. Waloubet looked fancy in her pink blanket. I'm wondering if the soft mints are easier to chew since the hard ones seem to slip out their mouth. Very relaxing video...
It's not so much the hardness as it is the flavor. The Brachs are a pretty 'stiff' mint (they have a very strong mint flavor). Plus, even if a horse really likes mints, they'll still wind up losing most of the disc (Northwest US name for that type) the first few times they try it. Most of the 'experienced mint eaters' I've fed figured out how to stash the pieces somewhere in their mouth after that first *cronch* so they didn't lose them as they bopped their mouth open. 😆 If they offer them on a regular basis, they'll figure it out. Would be interested to see what they think of regular Lifesavers. Same hardness, more winter/spearmint than peppermint. Softer mint flavor.

Thoroughbreds in the USA love the red & white peppermints - For Christmas I used to send 25 pounds to the racetrack office - they would put in a bowl for the trainers to give to the horses-
Yes. The red & white, round Brach’s peppermints or the softer white ones that look like cough drops. Both are favorites with the TB’s on the farms here in Kentucky
Uniek is such a well mannered and gentle soul. And such a great mother. Yvonne, you have done such wonderful work with her and with all of your animals.

Yvonne - Loved this, thank you ! The American Brach's Peppermints are hard, and can be sticky, and they have a pretty strong peppermint flavor.. My neighbors have family in the Netherlands, and they always bring me Dutch peppermints! I think these are called Wilhelmina- Royal Dutch peppermints 🤔 They come in a very pretty round tin with a crown 👑 and taste very good. They are thick and white without a hole. I‘m sure Queen Uniek 👑 would like them!

My niece's horses love the really soft ones, the ones that practically melt as soon as you put them in your mouth. I can't remember the name of them but they are not too potent. I think the red/white one is too strong. Harry is gorgeous!! 🧡🧡

Butter mjnts zre super soft, but there is also a ball peppermint that is red and white striped that is a bit soft. Not as melt in your mouth soft as the buttermints though
@@T-J-C The red and white ball you speak of might be the one I mean- Red Bird. It is soft and not as strong as Broch's. When I visited my niece and her horse when she was staying at a stable for some training, we passed out mints to all the horses in the "rescue" stable and they just loved them. No-one turned down the mints! 🧡🧡

My mules loved sparkle mint day! I learned quickly to unwrap them before going near their stalls. I also always counted carefully so each got their fair share. It made them so happy and made the barn smell minty fresh.
Sadly I no longer have my girls. I miss them terribly every single day. Mia passed at 24 just feet from where she was born. I rehomed Twister a few years later after my 4th ankle surgery. My health went bad and I struggled to care for her. I still can barely walk. I had my 10th surgery on it a few months ago. She is much happier living with a herd. She lives on 100 acres with 6 horses 4 donkeys and another mule. It was the right choice for her but one of the hardest things I've ever done.
I was very lucky Maria. Mules are my favorite. I always wanted a donkey but never got to. I was lucky to have 3 horses in my lifetime. I loved them very much. I was born horse crazy but my mules were something truly special and my most treasured equines.
None of the horses I've known ever refused those soft mints they serve at wedding receptions and none of them ever liked the red Brach's kind. My grandmother and her sisters used to give us the Brach's peppermints when we were in church so we'd stay quiet. All my cousins and I used to call it 'Church Candy'.

In the UK the mint with a hole are called Polo's. We have stronger mints called Trebor and I've never met a horse yet that doesn't love them. One horse tried to pull the pack out my pocket to eat them all 😁
