NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO SUBSCRIBE ALL OVER AGAIN: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uNrWzpY1wNw.html Cheers again to everyone for supporting the channel over the years. I won't lie, being a 'RU-vidr' is a bit odd. You spend most of your time working out if you can call it a career or not. In many ways Patreon has helped me get over that sensation. Best of all, the budget is now there to ensure the channel keeps its creative integrity intact in the long term and I can take things forward and deliver more content, more regularly - as well undertake bigger projects and hopefully branch into producing a documentary. The new channel is equally exciting - I often feel as though every video I upload to this channel (Abroad in Japan) has to be the best video I can possibly make, with lots of editing going into it. On the new channel I hope to create more spontaneous videos, where the focus is less about getting views and delivering quality, and just having fun with the things I produce. I may do a bit more audience interaction there as well. Be sure to subscribe to the new "Abroad Perspective" channel and witness the mayhem unfold. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ON THE NEW CHANNEL? Let us all know below!
More vlogs that could be described as sarcastic/snarky/almost angry with false enthusiasm. Like the last one where you almost seemed annoyed that you were even recording the act of buying a sandwich. Most enjoyable.
There is so much crap doing well on RU-vid that I find it so sad channels like this one with hours and hours of editing and quality content, inevitably end up getting drowned in the dark oceans of RU-vid content. Seems like the only way to be "successful" on RU-vid these days is to upload crap every single day. . .anyway I love this channel and wish you all the BEST!
I'd actually watch that skit at the start in the form of a real series, a series with sarcastic and over the top personality poking fun at those daily vloggers you see. "OH MY GOD GUYS LOOK ITS A CHERRY BLOSSOM, THAT MUST BE THE MOST JAPANESE THING I'VE EVER SEEN!"
Fairly jaded and snarky! That is part of why I watch this channel Chris because I can relate. For being Japan's #1 English magazine I would have thought that they would understand that is a good trait
I love your intelligence to use a song as the Pet Shop Boys - What have i done to deserve this, your channel is fucking awesome. Keep up the great work.
This is the one channel where I'm actually happy to get an advert. No rush mate, your videos are great quality and I'm sure I speak for everyone in the Fuzzy Wuzzy Fun Club when I say they are always worth the wait!
For the first time I have become a Patreon supporter, and it is for you! Since I don't think I will ever actually go to Japan, I am living it vicariously through your videos, which I find educational and fun. Your being cheeky and sarcastic is very appealing. I am glad to be of help to you.
Love your videos! So glad you're going to keep making them :) I'm a bit slow on sarcasm so was very scared when I watched the first few seconds of this videos. I should not have doubted you Chris
I think most viewers assume you have a production staff of 1000 and take your superb quality for granted. You get a gold star for effort. Although not a joiner, I would watch The Fuzzy Wuzzy Fun Club anyway; as a tolerated non member, from a safe distance.
Been having a shitty day and I thought it was gonna get shittier by you announcing that you were canceling the channel. Very glad to hear it'll keep going, my trip to Japan was amazing and that was in large parts thanks to you Chris.
I'm glad I saw this video! I also moved abroad to teach English in China and started doing my abroad videos almost a year ago today. Looking at what I've put out in the past year, it seems similar to your videos in that it's not exactly daily type vlogs (although I do have some) but it's more of a carefully edited video on topics regarding my experiences and travelesque types as well. Anyways, lately I've been conflicted on what types of videos to stick with and seeing what my channel is becoming and ALSO trying to get a consistent schedule going. But as of now, it varies from 2-4 per month...ish. Anyways, I just want to say thank you for explaining some of the "troubles" or feedback you get because it sounds very similar to mine. So thank you for that and just want you to know that this video has inspired in the fact that you can still be successful even with these inner conflicts. Cheers!
Chris, you're British, it's just who you are. And general fuckery is what brought me to your channel in the first place. There are enough serious channels, and not enough British guys giving the Japanese a taste of Marmite.
I had a brief period of depression and panic when I saw the title on my feed because I thought you were quitting. I'm just glad you'll still be around and making videos. You may not upload every single day, but every video you put out is quality. I look forward to seeing what comes next! :)
Abroad in Japan, even though you might be one of the grumpiest RU-vidrs I've ever seen, you certainly aren't boring. Your use of sarcasm, references and in-deliberate humor makes even me smile. C'mon, I am literally the human incarnation of the grumpy cat. And for 3 years now, you have inspired me to learn Japanese and push on, even when learning Kanji! I think you have made a great impact on my life in a positive way (like how soy sauce always makes salmon and rice taste better), if I could look back on my former self before this, I definitely wouldn't be a sushi-addict, but I also wouldn't be as happy as I am now, booking my next flight to Japan. Thank you Abroad in Japan! Keep calm, And adventure!
Regardless of uploading schedule, I really like the current mixture of fun edited vlogs/documentary style videos. You have been making a lot more 'professional' vlogs recently and it's amazing how the quality is on par with television documentaries. Having both types of videos really showcases your personality, I wouldn't be surprised if you were hired to do a TV series soon. I can imagine viewers subscribing for more Abroad docos, and then see one of your funny vlogs. HA! "What's this, a foreigner is teaching locals swear words? Preposterous!" Either way, a secondary channel is a good way to approach everything! Will this channel be more serious, or the other one? Thanks Chris!
Been subbed to your channel since you've uploaded your 3rd video. All of the "westerner living in japan/vlog" style youtube channels are insufferable aside from yours. Your channel is great, keep it up.
Hey Chris! Your experiences in Japan lead me to book a trip for four days in november. I will be staying in Tokyo. I am definitely going to Akihabara, Tokyo Tower, Odaiba Onsen, and Shinjuku. Anywhere else worth visiting?? Going with two friends. Thanks!
only those that make it on the stage... millions of ordinary britons fail that quality threshold. If any, then rather go for Irish ...for having a good fun time. Just look at the behaviour of their respective football supporters, and then your eyes open...
Well done you! Absolutely love your videos and could easily see you on travel channels branching out for more explorations in other places with fun and humor!
Chris. Don't ever change. You are one of the best youtubers actually for your fans. You have sent me a few personal messages in the past as you did others back when you had a low number of subs. These days you interact really well with us lot in the comments section and over facebook. Let it be. we are all happy and the others that are not.....well......fucksake
if you had a sex change it wouldn't affect the name of your channel much, just add a space and make it "a broad in japan". just thought I'd let you know that if you were considering it, love the videos keep them coming
I'm new to your videos and I have to say, I certainly enjoy your "snarky" humor. I'm sure it's been said before but keep it up man. You got another subscriber.
Chris I just came across your channel recently and I began binge watching all your videos... its definitely informative and entertaining ... I really really enjoy your content!keep it up buddy!
Great to see a new video. I'm visiting Japan in December and your videos have made me even more excited for the trip. Can't wait! Subscribed to the new channel too. Keep the new content coming!
Glad to see you will be able to continue with the channel, and congrats on channel #2! *giggles at the fuzzy wuzzy club reference at the end of the video*
