The problem I had with lost ark was the long list of mandatory daily requirements. Doing the same thing every day grew old way too quickly. Not enough time to level up alts and doing daily things on top of your main character. It felt tedious and only to fail honing chances felt unrewarding. Rinse and repeat. Just burned me out. I got my ghost ship then stopped playing and uninstalled. It’s a shame I enjoyed the combat but felt too grindy and unsatisfying
Honing kill me as well, My luck is so bad I start almost the same time as my friends and he went above me and have to pull Alt to play daily with me because my luck on Honing is so bad, I grind Chaos (is it Chaos DG ?) like hell but can't keep up because there's a limit unless you spam Alt to put all the grind to your main. Another point for me is I wanna play support and Bard skill effect is just too bad to play with that left me with Paladin where I find it fun but still, I prefer non-gender lock for MMO Style more than this Genderlock Archetype. To sum it all, Fail honing is too much, I don't know why game need to discourage player for trying to improve itemlevel.
I got about 300 hours in, then all the daily shit i had to do started to feel like a damn job, at like... 6 or 7 hours of dailies, i just peaced the hell out after that realization.
I agreed with you. I do not feel rewarded for my time at all because daily are not fun. But if I don’t do them, I am punished as I am not making any progression.
I just remembered something when you were talking about new player experience, and "why would anyone want to add a new player to their raid?". One thing maplestory 2 did, was that if there was a new player in your raid that had only completed the raid less than XXX times (for ex: 0-3 times) everyone in that group would get bonus materials for helping that new person complete the raid. This actually made people go out of their way to find new players for their raid party because the bonus materials they gained were just too good.
@@andysledge ms2 is dead legit like it got wiped off the face of the earth, i predict ags is gonna do that with lost ark once they release blue protocol in the west in 2024. they're gonna catch up to KR in late 2023, realize they cannot translate the fresh patches fast enough and cut budgets. boom end of service
the issue with lost ark is literally that at one point it starts to feel like literal work.... from discovering, and enjoying the grind to a grind which feels like a chore. You start thinking about efficiency, about time, about schedules and this is not how a game should feel like. Ideally a game (no matter if online or offline) should give the player lots of degrees of freedom, like logging in whenever you want/can by not missing out stuff.
And if you had nothing to do in the game or very minimal things you would then complain about how there's nothing to do 😂 rested bonus is a thing buddy
Same brother, i also spent 3k hours in a year and I feel like I wasted so much time. This game is like a literal second job. I quit 2 months ago and its the best decision ive ever made.
@@O6i ever since I quit I started sleeping more, I started going out more, and a whole bunch of other things started improving. Video game addiction is no joke.
Day 1 player here who grinded every day for more than a year, playing 8h+ a day. I stopped playing last week, uninstalled the game. I started going to the gym again and I never felt happier not having to worry about logging every day, having to do chores every week etc... This game really was toxic for people with a grindy mindset. So glad i'm out.
I completely agree with you, the only catch up mechanic is to put money into the game, each day of grind you missed, you know you are getting behind other players/content. I really miss player a cool mmo, but I'm really happy to leave this game on the past.
be glad you never started runescape brother that shit still got us hooked doing daily chores 10-15 years later anyone with a grind mindset should avoid touching it
We had a group of about 20-30 players in our country, they all abandoned the game after they discovered the amount of grind required to gear up. Everyone having to use alts was really a game-killer.
Don't have to use alts, in fact alts were likely best at the beginning of the game when currencies sold like mad. Everyone raced etc. But the grind and honing is no joke, though I read they recently have made it easier but I don't know.
@@dongarippo7279 You absolutely need to if you start having bad luck. Having alts circumvents bad honing sessions. If you don't care about reaching the content on release, then you don't even have to do anything, but that's not fun and most of the fun comes from day 1 raids.
@@dongarippo7279 Bad take. You 100% need alts in order to reach end game content. There is absolutely no way you will farm enough silver/gold to hone and build your engravings without alts.
I absolutely love lost ark. And the reason that I stopped playing (with a heavy heart) is that it's hard to make friends in raid. If you try to create newbie friendly party for legion raid, you end up wasting a lot of time without clearing it even once. If you join a party, everyone expect you to perform at your absolute best or you will get shit on, that's a lot of pressure for playing a game. In the end I felt so much stress that it's not worthed to waste my time in a raid that I can't enjoyed.
Legion raids bring a lot of anxiety, sadly and thats true. If there wasn't only team wide wipes when someone messes a math calculation it would be alright. Also there are only legion raids are kinda fun. Well only Valten was fun imo.
"If you try to create newbie friendly party for legion raid, you end up wasting a lot of time without clearing it even once" That's expected in any mmorpg. "If you join a party, everyone expect you to perform at your absolute best or you will get shit on, that's a lot of pressure for playing a game." I completely agree with this, especially with intense gatekeeping pressure. People say lost ark ain't P2W but you can clearly see it even in the party finder.
I love the combat and group activity in this game. Full of FOMO, I rushed to 1340 when the game first came out and soon quit after. I've been trying to get back into it these past few days, but catching up has been rather boring/difficult to find a group.
I got 80k blue crystals and got 1460 with Valtan on main. However, this is also the first game I just simply quit all of sudden and delete the game completely. The thought of playing 4 alts just to help my main catch up just kill my interest to get back.
This is true however there are streamer communities and learning discords that have people who ask questions all the time who are coming back. The resources are available if you seek them out! I’ll be happy to help ya out if you want it!
Been playing this game for years and since release for the west. Legit quit a little after 1st anniversary arrive late March due to the amount of time the requires due to the chores. Feels so liberating.
I agree i even tried to get back into the game but as soon as i was like ok im gonna do a legion raid all i could find were just busses or people dont want someone thats new and there really wasnt a work around for that so it was either bite the bullet and buy a bus or just sit and wait for hours hoping i could get in and ill be honest i would have liked to experience it for myself but it just seemed impossible
@@grook5527 you've to work on the min requirments tha people expect to play with you or start your own lobby. For months i couldnt join a lobby because I played a berserker. I had all the gear i had the roster lvs but noone wanted to play with berserkers. Fact is life is unfair but if you give it some time youll be in a position to help someone who is exactly in your position in a month. Frankly i think the game needs more social groups like guilds to bring people together because everyone is playing solo in a rat race to keep up with Ilv
Day 1 player here that left the game at the beginning of this year. I absolutely love the combat, raids, and skins but the daily/weekly grind on multiple alts is what killed me as well the non-new player friendly experience (tons of gatekeeping and fast reclear rooms) felt off put to me. I only have about 3 hrs of free time per day and would spend it all on Lost Ark so I wouldn’t fall behind. Now I’ve never felt so free and happier. I do come on now and then to check out updates but I’ve moved on to other games. Currently trying ffxiv and enjoying the story. Definitely 💯 agree with asmon.
Yeah, I'm a day 1 player as well. The bots making your hard-earned gold worth nothing, along with just the amount of alts/grind required makes the game just feel like a rat race. I swapped to FFXIV and it's a lot more relaxing and has more content besides just raiding. The combat and raiding in Lost Ark is still unrivaled to me, but it's just not worth playing only for that aspect. An MMO needs to have more.
day 1 player aswell. I really felt free when i stopped logging in... I love almost everything about this game but the biggest "no" factor was prolly pheon and gatekeeping. Im so happy that im unbothered with such things (in bdo/ff14/aion) but still keeping up with lost ark updates, coping that we will get better version someday :')
@@Avrelivs_Gold The lesson here is...stay away from Korean games. It's a different mentality there. They like the grind. I prefer to unwind/escape when playing.
Played for 1000 hours in just about 6 months, then some day I woke up and thought about it: I was wasting all my free time on a second job. Everything was a chore. The gameplay is pretty good, the diversity of it when you play several classes is really good. You never get bored of the combat. But at the end, it was countless hours just to have 2/3 weeks of really good content when a new raid dropped. Just to farm it brainlessly and without a problem after those weeks, and wasting a lot of time wiping cause randoms. I still cant belive how many people is hooked to that, predatory systems and time sunk really work man.
@@CoolNumber1 if you really wanted to play, you could simply search for a roster or make a few friends to always do content with then. Its not that much of a deal imho. MMOs are social games afterall
@The Rotten💯 justify what man xDDDD I left the game more than half a year ago and hate how the game is designed In every MMO people gatekeep, no one wants to play with low gear or inexperienced players. Specially when people just try to brainlessly getting carried through many characters without proper gear or experience, like most of the playerbase do in Lost Ark. Ive spent 6 months carrying noobs with my alters. I get why people gatekeep non stop, the playerbase is just annoying af, leeching everything they can.
Asmon a friend of mine is a GM in lost ark. They KNEW which Accounts were bots a month after launch. She was not allowed to ban them because higher ups didn't allow it to keep the active playernumbers high, until feedback got so bad they had to ban them.
@@bakakubi pretty much. also getting insane amount of unpaid hours, Players constantly complaining about the botissue and other things ingame to her. Was a rough time. All i can say is that the whole GM team knows whats going on, they are mostly just unable to do anything because of higher ups from amazon. They were as annoyed as the players were. She was super happy becoming a GM in the game, but as time goes on more people becoming overworked and stressed out, espescially with 2 new projects later this year and next year.
Not surprising. SG itself bragged about west server having 800k players. If you play either AGS or SG games after how lost ark west went, you've lost it.
I had high hopes for this game. Biggest problem for me was being forced to make alts in order to stay efficient. I feel if they fixed that the game could be better imo. I ended up giving up on progression and just went to buy the best pirate ship. Spent 400 + hours, got my ship and sailed off into the sunset. Uninstalled game a day later.
@@adriancastaneda3551 or just uninstall the game, I try one character and I have no resources to get anything else. Cards, gems, Accessories basically no progress. That is why we are saying make 1 chaos equals the same reward as 2 chaos. Because if I don’t have gems, cards, accessories, gatekeep.
imagine you are a new player and the only other players you see are just 10 bots around you at all times stealing your quest mobs. yep, time to uninstall
One of the best mmo I’ve played so far but requires too much time. Quit 6 months ago after downing vykas and just returned last week. Low levels contents are dead. You can’t take a break or you’ll fall behind and get gatekeep. This game is not new or returned player friendly. Best to just find a new game.
I quit in December and think about downloading it again all the time haha. But yeah, the thought of having skipped 4 months of dailies and trying to catch up is just too much. I was doing Clown 5x a week and Brel 3 and it did me in after 2 weeks.
@@S2gaa nope i am since the 0 point, and valtan is the break in the game. Korean game is not accurate for everybody specially the boring raids from the end, i played a lot wow 3.3.5 and many times rushed The lich king years maybe, but with lost ark is BORING after a month of the last raid 1500++ ilvl.
@@S2gaa I already have high respect for you - for playing Mu on global. But come on now... Lost ark is crap af - everyone knows that. It's like you would need to play 6 MG's daily on MU online - or else you can not get bless/souls cause they would be limited to 1 daily per character.
It's quite sad really, I was watching this game for the longest time, wishing for a western release. I didn't realise how messed up the MT were and how shallow the gameplay loop would be.
About gatekeeping, at least here in SA there's two types of gatekeeping. The first one is what asmon said, they want experienced people to do the raid properly, but thats only for the end game raids (Brelshaza and Clown), for the old content like valtan and vykas they don't care if you are experienced or not, they wanna a person with 5x3 ilvl 1500+, you don't need that at all but they wanna do it in 2 minutes.
@@LukeTor I don't think they would even consider that. From a their point of view they want the player to play their game as much as possible, and i don't think they would do that considering that they don't wanna even lower the amout of dailies that we do. The core of the problem imo is that the game is designed in a way that you need gold to do everything, like, there's no system in this game that does not use gold in a way. My suggestion would be to eliminate the gold requiring from all the systems that you use on your vertical progression, make the honing and the quality upgrade only costs silver for every level, make the legendary book engraving a horizontal progression that you do it once and never more, but, you still can buy/sell honing materials and acessories with gold. In a player perspective, i think this would be much healthier for the game, since, farming gold would not be a thing you MUST do every week otherwise you don't hone your gear, this would be something that you do just if you wanna buy skins, gear up your alts or hone faster, and of course, for fun.
For me and my friends the bots did not make us quit, nor did the pay to win. It was pheons and the constant feeling of needing to do 32 Chaos and Guardian raids every single day in order to be somewhat ready for the new raid release. We usually had raged filled conversations on discord on how Pheons make the game worse. That conversation usually came up when one of us was trying to gear out one of our Alts for fun and run in to the "not enough pheons" issue once again. We always said that if they just eliminated the need for pheons and lowered the amount Chaos and Guardians to 1 a day instead of 2 it would make a world of difference. But we knew that that would not happen because lost ark was built on a lot of systems that make the game worse in order to sell us a solution. Eventually, we ended up quitting a few weeks after the clown raid was released. I was planning on going back till i was reminded of the issues and i stopped myself, my friends did the same.
Smilegate needs to make sure that players can also create their own gears from guardian raids, abyssal dungeon or chaos dungeon not only from legion raid, because not everyone has time to learn the mechanics and play so much in order to make progress, otherwise players can no longer progress in this game and will stop to play.
I HATE when companies say they are doing localization to meet the needs of different cultures. Yet here we are a year later and now we’re getting what we should have day 1. Real localization would have made this game very popular even a year later.
you hit the nail on the head with every single point in this vid. i loved this game, but eventually it just got to a point where i had to ask myself am i really having fun? its constant stress and pressure. new players dont even get a chance at a good experience. everything you do, is punished. then on top, AGS dropping the ball every single chance they get, ignoring player feedback
Same. But maybe I'd put more of this on SG rather than AGS. Like for example the pheon incident - it was all SG on that decision. In general it seems sg doesn't give a fk bout west so there's no chance for us.
@@GFClocked yeah for sure SG is responsible for the core issues with the game. although i admit i didnt know it was them behind that pheon incident. i just have too many memories of a AGS messing up on the simplest things. they couldnt import the same exact things from the kr version without ending up with an 8 hour maintenance to figure out what went wrong LOL
@@vtboy465 i think AGS literally just runs a script to copy pastes the files sg gives them on to their server. The maintenance might not have even been AGS fault. What i do know for a fact is that they're responsible for English translations and VO, and those are really bad.
The thing that I felt that hurt a lot of players like myself and my friend is that the class we wanted to play wasn’t released yet till later and the class my friend wanted to play took so long that he never even played and I burnt myself out playing classes waiting for the one I wanted
Yeah this was me I was mainly interested in Artist and Scouter but figured it wouldn't take them long to get those classes out so I stayed invested until they announced how long it was going to take and I quit. I tried to come back for Artist and as soon as I started honing I was just like nah I'm not doing this all over again.
The real problem with the game is that it is an insane grind gated by a paywall, which is the same issue every korean mmo has. It is the reason they are not popular in the rest of the world. When you look at the player statistics for this game, everyone had tons of fun until they hit the initial grind/pay wall and immediately 70% of the player base said nope. That type of game model just simply does not work outside of korea/china, the vast majority of people have not enough time and not enough money to be mindlessly grinding or paying to play new content every single time it releases. If the game even had a basic subscription model of 10-15$ a month it would have double or triple the player base it has today, it would have absolved the bot problem by and large, and people would still be playing because they aren't gated by pay walls and grind walls.
Asmon: "If the lost ark community had any self respect they would flat out quit the game until pheons were removed" Me: Exactly what I did, months ago.
I played Lost Ark for about 2 months before losing interest completely. I think I was drawn in by the years of early hype and lured into think it would be a Diablo-like game. It's fine for what it is, but its not what it was pitched to be.
I absolutely loved gameplay and diversity of classes. I started out playing a... I don't even remember the name, the male archer?... and had a blast. Then I started to get into alts and really, the differences made it so much fun to play those as well! But then the grind really hit after I sort of 'finished' the semi-solo parts of the game (which, for me, were awesome, loved the story and laughed at the at times ridiculously flawed translations) and suddenly I was logging in, doing chaos dungeons, logging an alt, doing chaos dungeons, logging an alt, doing chaos dungeons, etc. I didn't even bother with guardian raids, in comparison to dungeons they aren't half as much fun and felt even more like a chore. Oh, I also loved having my own island to build on and collect npcs and loved having my own garden/cave/fishing spot, but then they had to ruin the garden part as well. Pffff...
It’s an interesting thing that in lost arks attempt to making bussing impossible they still made it possible but it’s extremely hard and that in turn made bus prices insane.
I quit the game just after the Clown was released, I was ahead of the curve as a F2P player (due to having alts fuel my main) 1507 ilvl mayhem zerk with 5x3, all stats optimized, I was top DPS/MVP in just about every single raid I ever did, but I got kicked out of every premade group as soon as I made a single mistake even if it's not a wipe mistake, while others wipe us and get to stay. Class gatekeeping was getting too severe, I played 2-4h every single day just to keep afloat with dailies and weeklies barely managing to finish it all every week before reset, playing without a guild was too punishing due to weakest link wipe mechanics, the inflation due to bots was getting so bad I could barely afford to buy the Crystaline Aura anymore with the conversation rates.. There was no mention of them fixing or addressing any of these issues in the foreseeable future so I did the only thing I thought smart and quit on the game and honestly I don't regret it at all, especially after seeing that this is all still an issue to the point the population dwindled to 40-80k. It's obvious to everyone they are killing the game with their tedious daily/weekly grinds, making alts necessary, not dealing with bots, stupid pheons, weakest link wipe mechanics which all create a very toxic player environment because they are forced into it by the way the game is made by the developers. You couldn't have said it better, we are water and they dug the path for us to follow, no wonder everyone is toxic or has quit the game.
Just wanna ad the fact that, there are many players (including me) that enjoy playing multiple characters, and i raised em all to 1540 (12 chars atm) and every week, i switch them whenever i feel like.
Something I rarely see mentioned is that Elgacia adds an Abyss Dungeon for players to do, on each character, in addition to the 3 legion raids. So if you think doing 18 legion raids per week now is bad, that goes up to 24 when Elgacia comes out. And they're adding more Abyss dungeons, so this will continue to be the case going forward.
Not saying its a good or bad thing but the Kayangel dungeon isn't a gold earner, so the only reason to run it will be for level 3 set and ancient ability stone upgrade mats. Im honestly not too sure if theres any incentives to run it more times than you need other than for a card chance.
Regardless of any issues the game has, I adore sailing and doing island stories more than anything else and if they brought out a male sorcerer, I'd play in a heart beat
Dude no one speaks up to the level Asmon does about this game. It’s really disappointing how many content creators aren’t more hard on this game. Every point he covered is so true and would make the game way better. Game is designed as a sweatshop.

Lost Ark was the game i most enjoyed to play in YEARS... but eventually had to quit for the exact reasons we saw in the video. It was the hardest thing i had to do because i was having SUCH good time, it broke my heart but i deleted it. I felt i wasnt playing a game anymore, it felt like i was working on a job that drained me daily.
The biggest problem is the grind system and the leveling system. The rates of upgrading the gear is extremely low for the grinding you need to do. You need to spend weeks on raiding to be able to get the gear. And lets not talk about that you need to do It on múltiple accounts. If they reduce the amount of daily content we need to do, fix the rates and for example doing the first run of a legion raid gives you the whole gear, i think the game will improve
Never going to happen. Spoiled because games in the east are not the same as games here in the west. These grind gacha games are meant to be this way and not played so fast that you can burn through the content in a week
When Lost Ark first come out, I played it till T2 and Elden Ring came so I quit playing it for 2-3 weeks. Then I came back and continued playing but I was a month behind in iLVL. I was doing dailies with 6 chars everyday and all I wanted was to increase my ilvl just to be able to enter Vykas raid. For 2 weeks I failed every honing I tried. It was getting more difficult everyday playing this grindfest until one day I decided to not torture myself with this. Unless they fix dailies and honing, there is no way I'm coming back.
Pre release of Lost Ark, I was stoked with the graphics, the abilities, the characters, the map, and the concept. It was really eye catching that I can get to say "YES! This is it! The MMORPG that I've been looking for". When it was released, I immediately download the game - despite having a large file size - and played for hours. I think my record on steam was around 124 hours in a span of a month. I really love the game to the heart. Right now, I'm just frustrated on how Amazon handles the game. Bots are evident, the grinding system is soooo hard (especially on the later stages of the game), and overall just poor management. This just became those one hit wonders kind of games. And it's really disappointing for Lost Ark to go down hill.
23:55 I agree 100% with Asmon's take on the alt system, in other games you aren't forced to play other classes, so when you do, it's for fun, and you have a good time when playing them. On Lost Ark, you HAVE to play alts and do mind-dumbing dailies on every single one of them to keep up with the content and your main character progression. Also, gearing up alts is a lot more punishing if you don't play the same class on all of them.
I quit back in Nov-Dec after I finally gave up on keeping up with the grind on 18 alts. Just let me play one character. If I want to play 2-3 or more, that should be my decision not the meta gameplay required to hone my main.
Thank you Asmon for articulating a lot of the thoughts I've had on this game. I'm 2500+ hours in. I haven't even attempted Brel hard because of some of the things you said about gate keeping and unforgiving mechanics. Progging normal Brel, especially gate 4, was really difficult for me. It gave me a lot of anxiety. I really enjoy Valtan, Vykas, and to some extent, Kakul Saydon. Brelshaza broke me.
Gatekeeping is ONLY an issue for people that want into parties they don't deserve to be in. I am so tired of people complaining about gatekeeping when they are 4x3 minimum ilevel and can't join 1700+ ilevel parties.
@@Paulo27 Lol maybe it is a you issue. But I have joined several learning parties and never had anyone bitch about mistakes! People constantly complain about gatekeeping because they are not prepared. And I guarantee that IF you ever made a party (Which I can tell you don't make your own parties) then you would gatekeep harder than anyone that gate kept you! Get carried more bro
@@Paulo27 I have no trouble getting into parties. It's really not that hard at all. But then again I have 5x3 on all my characters with proper DPS card sets and at least level 5 gems for Valtan and Vykas and level 7+ gems for Kakul/Brel.
i love the game, i didn't necessarily burn myself out like others, but i just didnt want nor care about efficiently playing 6 alts. So i would only really play 2-3 characters. So i Agree about reducing the dailies/ the need for alts, by setting a priority character instead. I don't think smilegate or amazon will go full deep into the idea, but maybe at least designate it between just 2 characters and increase said rewards by 3x. A way they they can improve card sets, is by reducing the amount of cards needed to enhance. Pheons shouldn't exist however if they want to keep them in the game, they can have it be used to avoid the market taxes, and if you don't want to use pheons, just have the market take a bigger cut. Same can be done with the auction house. Better prices if you use pheons, but you can still purchase said gear items if you don't have pheons.
Monster hunter got rid of their version of flare in gen 5, mh world. Made it even easier to track them in mh rise as the monster is always marked on the map, only difference is if its a "?" or the monster icon.
I didnt care about FOMO, I was fine with 1 character and I kept up easily. The problem I had was that raids was uncarriable and I hated resetting 20 times because of 1 guy
I think the real question is when they talk about fixing issues and take too long to fix them, are they incompetent or are they just lying because they’re making money and don’t care
I really loved Lost Ark for a couple months until I started to get overwhelmed by the many different types of currencies and complexities that I didn't have time to research. The grind was just too much for me.
Love Lost Ark, D4 made me realize how much I missed it after missing a few months, but my god the pain of trying to learn Brel 4 months after her release was a huge stress inducer. The players are so toxic to ppl who don't know a raid perfectly first run. I can solo Valtan, two person carry Vykas, and 50%+ dps clown, but I'm absolute trash at brel because it's hard to even get in groups without a title 4-5 months after brel. Gameplay wise, Lost Ark is far superior to D4, but they're unfortunately hurting the game. I can't get enough gold/mats to catch up more than 1 character. Weekly gold limits hurt.
There are learning parties and learning discords for current and previous raids. I agree that the community sucks when it comes to “3rd wipe I leave” mentality.
A good way to make more gold and for some reason people don't do is trading skills. Fishing or excavating are good options, you can get plenty of gold doing this every other day.
I recently played Lost Ark as a friend wanted me to get into it so we could play together. This was just a few weeks ago and basically everyone I ran into aside from my friend was a bot.
yea most maps are not used for anything other than quests/adventure book you find people only in cities which are like a hub there is no reason to be out other than life skill. it's an instance based game
The worst part about Lost Ark was the necessity to have alts. Doing the same repetitive content on multiple characters was just not for me. Finding groups to do all the content for all those characters to do the content takes too much time.
Skill Issue : The Game. This game has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. Started as a group of 8 now only me left. Every group/community ive joined quit shortly after i joined and i was always the filler guy. Valtan and Vykas was the best time i had . Things went spiral when Clown released, Brelshaza Normal was manageable but it was the biggest time sink i had over a raid. I attempted hard mode the furthest i went was Gate 6 Shandi. I notice the environment for Brel Hard is very volatile and its making me anxious to even attempt . Will quit this game once i clear Brel Hard , im not staying to do frustrating chores every week. It was fun while it lasted.
One reason for gatekeeping is also getting jail. basicly clearing gate 1 but not gate 2. then its really hard to find a party. specially in old content
I actually really liked Lost Ark as I was progressing through the story, just leveling up my character. I loved the atmosphere, combat, gameplay. Then once I hit max level or soft cap level or whatever, the fun was just sucked out. RNG, P2W, A fuck ton of different resources and currencies and FOMO. It felt like a Mobile game lmao. I’d like to imagine that there’s an alternate universe where Lost Ark took the approach of something like FF14 where you pay to play and sub. Cash shop is purely cosmetic. No FOMO. No BS RNG grind. Unsub whenever you think the game’s bland then come back for a Patch or 2. But the gameplay, combat stayed the same. I’d like the have that kind of Lost Ark
Needing ults to progress killed the game entirely for me and my large group of friends. We made a guild and got up to 30 players. Everyone quit except like 3 who still play after finding out that alts are a requirement.
Loved The Skins Loved The Story Loved Exploring And I Loved The Graphics. The Think That Made Me Quit Was Waiting 1 Hour For a Full Party Then Restarting 2 Or 3 Times Almost 2 Hours To Complete 1 Legion Raid. And Mixing Hard Raids And Farming Every Weak Not A Good Idea. But The Biggest Problem For Me Was Being Toxic To Beginners For Failing Mechanics. I Don't Want To Become A Angry Person So I Had To Quit Game
A few years ago i was watching your stream for the first time and couldn't understand why you had so many viewers. Now i do understand and i regret it so much not watching your clips from the beggining. You're one of the smartest streamers out there and i love watching your clips. You haven't been wrong with a single thing this all time. Also, as a person who have over 4k hours in lost ark i want to say that i almost got tears in my eyes. I love this game and it makes me so sad the fact that SG and Amazon are killing it. All they have to do is listen to us. Over 90% of people that submited the survey to them a few weeks ago said that they NEED to reduce DAILIES or even remove it. They JUST DON T WANT TO LISTEN TO US. Giving us 100 boxes of consumables and 50 pheons to shut out mouth ? what is this ****, paying us to vote for them ? Why not make guardian raids always visible and with hp bar ? why not remove phero ? WE CARE FOR NEW PLAYERS. new players that don t know how to use flare or DON T KNOW WHEN TO USE PHERO AND GET SHI*ED BY everyone. Why not reduce dailies ? doing only UNA TASK on 6 chars require around 20-30 min / day WASTED + chaos + guardian raids. It's just insane ! You can t enjoy the game at all. It's more frustrating than a job sometimes. Many of my friends quit the game, but i still have hope, however i don t know for how long ... Keep up the splendid work that you're doing ! you are the best !
Whats F up in this game is literally the chores you need to do daily. Especially when you got more than 3 alts on your roster, its time consuming. Developers forgot that the more time a player dedicate doing their dailies means the less time they have on doing other contents like pvp, island travelling, event participation, or any other things you mightbwant to do other than chaos and raid and unas. Its just unacceptable this game requires a lot of hours and hardwork to do all the content they "offer"
12:05 -14:11 Truer words have never been spoken. Valtan and Vykas in general are enjoyable to fight, but as a player goes further into the content, the amount of punishment to even try to do anything for hours on end for such little reward(s) that you most of the time won't even finish to begin with is beyond me. This is a game that I love in many ways, that possesses a tremendous amount of wasted potential that I will never be able to recommend to anyone.
@@Eisi0wns In Hard Mode Vykas 1 fail does not wipe the raid in almost every single mechanic. 1 orb fail -> no wipe | 1-3 type mechanic fail -> no wipe | many other mechanics can be Time Stopped, etc...
my major reason quiting the game is the fckin alt character, the idea to make sooo many character just to sacrifice it all for the main character is really dumb, and what make it more dumb is we cant share dropped equipment to other character so that end up making people doesnt gear up their alts and just go for bus, so the endgame is just people bussing each other for that little resource just so your main have a "chance" to get a lil stronger. the reward is just doesnt match with the CHORES you do daily and weekly. and someone need to slap the mf who think its good idea to make PHEON in those game!!
Extremely crap game, I left around valtan release - never looked back. Rip my 20-30k blue diamonds that I bought off my leftover gold. Welcome gates of hell - diablo 4.
For non paying players honing is 100% a problem. It gates you from content and becomes a more tiresome/annoying mobile game. I quit after argon and could do valtan. I think my ilvl could try valtan but I had quit at that point. Also as a 'semi casual' I just wanted characters, I hate that they spread out the new characters. Amazon just had to look at other Korean mmos that fail due to content taking too long even though it's already done, ppl are just going to stay.
The bots are getting smarter. When I was streaming we had a sorc bot in one of my cube runs where when we asked it "hey UCXBIP2P, can you say something?" and it would respond with the confused emote and stuff. After we finished it even said "tyfp". Only later I examined the gameplay later and found it to be just sitting in one place spamming one skill over and over. If you have effects turned off and aren't paying attention you would have never known better.
The daily grind was what really stopped me from going further in this game. I was one of the people that nolifed this game hard enough I was F2P on Argos week 1. I loved the game but the dopamine rush you got from upgrading your guy dwindled super hard in T3. You grind out several alts and funnel your main only to fail honing several times in a row. You spent so much time doing monotony just to get bread crumbs. Obviously the whole game can't be one big ramp, and T1 and T2 honing was increased to let NA catch up, but having such a hard pain point once you get to T3 is simply demotivating to me. If they cut out a lot of the chores I might consider coming back, but at this point I would feel too far behind since I havent logged on since last May
I enjoyed this game, got about 120 hours in. I got to a raid where i didn't research the pattern, and I wiped my raid group 3 times. They were all pissed at me, and i legitimately quit the game in that moment. Uninstalled, and haven't looked back. What a shitty unfun way to spend my time.
The main reason I never played was because every time I see steam charts and see Lost Ark all the way up there, with a rapidly fluctuating player count, I know for a fact most of them are bots. Even though it's top 5 on steam chart sometimes, I feel like I would be playing a singleplayer game lol.
That's a disappointing mindset to have, to make judgements without even playing the game. Judging a book by its cover. The reality was at release there were a lot of bots, no doubt, but everyone was starting fresh. That was easily the liveliest point of the game, a point where most players didn't care about efficiency at all. I ran domination stat (useless except in extremely niche scenarios) and no one cared.
If they are really going to listen to the community as they say, it would be good if they change the model/shadow of the demonic/shadow hunter, since they often complained in forums and only dedicated themselves to banning or ignoring them, and the excuse that they did it. they did for the PVP is not valid since they could only put it in PVP, although I really don't see it as necessary, anyone realizes the transformation by the attacks and the aura
I like the idea of getting to put/choose your rewards onto 1 character :O That's an interesting take. This will allow people to play 1 character easily... hmm what could be drawbacks for that though, I wonder
Lost Ark has some amazing gameplay, but the system mechanics for progression just get so tedious so quickly. It sucks because it's so engaging in terms of the moment to moment gameplay, but you really feel it when you put so much time doing so many dailies on so many alts just to fail your hone again.
This are my thoughs about the game, why I quitted and why I will not return: 1. When ever I started play MMOs, I was fastinated that I was able to play with friends online, but now, if you want to do so, MMOs game are the last place you want to go (for the server limitation things, etc.) 2. I'm someone that like spend money in video game, expecially for cosmetics (for reasons, ok?) But this f game doesn't let me do that. They want that I spend my money to power up my character by limitating the cosmetics in the shop. 3. I already have a job, why should I do this to myself... (sorry for my english)
I agree for the most part except towards the end regarding the class gatekeeping. "The game punishes you if they fail. The game makes people gatekeep classes. The players don't do it" Not really. Not doing the mechanics correctly doesn't have anything to do with what class you are using.
Played over 4k hours reason I stopped was because it just felt like a chore. Running 6 chars every week (I have 12 characters and rotated them every week to try keep it less tedious) doing 18 raids a week to keep up with how fucked up the economy is, sometimes you also do carries of Argos etc. as well so takes even longer to do everything. It's incredibly tedious to play just one character if you want to have 5x3 and actually be invited to raids, if you only play 1 character you'll be waiting months to complete 5x3. The raids and the game itself are fun the issue is the economy, bots and p2w players have just ruined it. Blue crystals were just outrageous when I quit and when you're free to play that's the only way to get Pheons. Made me really sad because I think it's a great game but to keep up and play with your friends in new raids you have to play efficiently.
I will never go back to lost ark until - Dailies are reduced so i only need to do Chaos and Guardians once not twice, Alts are no longer needed and i can use all entries on a single character and Legion Raids aren't anywhere near as punishing or stressful.
To be honest? What made me stop playing the game was the 20 listing limit, i cannot accept that a marketplace of an MMO has a limit on how many times you can press sell per day, that's just insane and i'll never come back to the game until that limit is removed.
MY main issue with Lost Ark is the fact i got banned and perma flagged as a ''bot account'' and can't play it anymore I have appealed TWELVE TIMES and nothing
I might be totally wrong but the first 50 levels or so being 100% soloable and then switching gears to where you had to have groups to do content is where I would say they really fucked up it. It's me and my friends quit, we didn't want to have to join up with other rando's and didn't want to join a guild so we quit not long after whatever the level you could reach solo was
I disagree with the point about alts. I play 6 characters have 2.5k hours in the game and my alts never make me mats and money back, its so expensive to keep them up to the current content -> you need gems engravings and f2p players (you can watch sywos vid about it) are 18 lvl ahead of my main because they dip all the event mats all the login rewards all the vendors on one char, while I try to level up all 6 of mine. 5x3 on every char plus all lvl 7 gems on everyone is just way too expensive and the silver costs times 6 are just hilarious. So in my opinion there is no way the game is designed to play 6 characters because the resources needed to keep your alts at a lvl to feed your main char are so high you dont have any spare mats for your main (at least thats the case for me and I totally agree to the points Stoopz said in his video regarding 6 charavter Roster) Anyways I love my 6 chars and I like playing at my own pace, so if you really 6x the rewards for one char, the game highly incentivises players to only play one character because if you play six but only can earn rewards for one your alts will stay far behind the current content and I wouldnt like that as a change to even further reduce the efficiency of alts. I still would play alts for the fun but If I cant keep them up to the current content because only one character in your roster gets skyrocketet every week I cant enjoy every of my alts at the current content
