The Future of My Channel 

To put aside any panic, I'm not quitting but I think it's time for a change. My goal remains the same though: to be a good steward of your support and viewership and to keep y'all entertained and informed. Hopefully this next chapter of the channel can even reach greater heights in that regard. Thank you all again for the years of support

This is so exciting! I prefer when youtubers reduce their upload schedule and make meaty video essays. I think I can speak for most of your subscribers when I say that we really love this change. My only concern is for the uncertainty of it in regards to you and your team's finances, but don't worry about us :)

I'm not displeased to hear about this new direction, I always really liked the long form videos. I tend to rewatch them while I'm working for background sounds.

as someone who is personally a big fan of long form project style content, im excited to see the channel shift plus honestly, 2-3 videos a month to me is still very generous when some youtubers tend to upload long form content like 6 times a year maximum

I totally feel you in this video. I've been a full time freelance artist for over a decade, and I used to churn out content to pay the bills, but last year I decided that churning out art wasn't making me happy and I wans't seeing growth. And I want to keep growing as a creator and not keep spinning my wheels even if it works. I really wanted to improve the quality of my art and rekindle my love for art and I've taken a gamble and slowed down at the risk of making less income. I'll tell you though, it's worth it. My followers have been super understanding and even though I'm putting out less art I've gotten so many compliments that what I have been putting out is much better. And the feeling of burnout went away; I'm much happier with my art in general, and my bills are still getting paid. So it's worth it, and I'm confident you'll keep growing and do great!

Tbf I haven’t really been watching a lot of the bad movie reviews, but I love the videos you mentioned as being more in depth, so I like this direction you’re going in. One thing I would love to see more of though is reviews of good independent animations or underrated animations that not enough people are talking about. If it wasn’t for this channel, Lackadaisy might not have even crossed my radar, and both the animation as well as the comics have now become one of my favorite pieces of media of all time.

There are definitely many channels that focus on long format documentaries or longer marathon explorations, and the support is equally strong with their fanbase. Just look at Caddicarus. He only makes long form videos now and they take months to produce. But they are all magical experiences that are worth the wait, every single time.

As Tiktok eats up all the short-form content, it looks like a lot of RU-vidrs are changing over to more long form content and the guys over at Corporate are not ready for that. Between monetization issues and ever censored algorithm stuff, the next few years on this site are gonna be weird. I look forward to you reviewing Cool World! What a strange story behind that....

While I do love the weird stuff (and thus have subbed to the Highlights channel), the best essays are always the ones where you deep-dive into something and present that type of story. It's awesome to settle in and hear about the DRAMA of the industry or the story behind something you love. And a sparser upload schedule means the channel is easier to keep up with. I am overall very pleased to hear this announcement!

2020 is when I found this channel. I had gotten a job driving a van full of workers for a pillow factory. Taking them from this small ass town to the factory in the mornings & then taking them back to the town in the evenings. Total drive time was around 3-4 hours a day in the van. This channel got me through those hours driving. I don’t drive for the factory anymore but I do use the videos for long drives. They’re super informative & entertaining.

As a Watcher and Industry Vet myself I really love your Deep dives into what goes on behind the scenes of shows, shining a light on everything that can happen, what goes wrong or right when making a show and telling the real, human stories behind the rise and fall of the shows that entertained us. and I also love the strange shows you find. You're right about Fun being key, you've seen it in the shows you talk about. there are some garbage shows you've reviewed where you can see the joy and passion of the creators and shows where the heart is gone, and how it affects the final show. I think that it's best to nurture your passion instead of burning out.

There are still a lot of obscure or underappreciated animated films from the 1980s, '90s and early '00s (and earlier) that I'd like to see covered: - The 1966 ('67?) Hobbit theatrical short. - Cats Don't Dance - The DragonLance movie (maybe a "What Went Wrong..." video) - Turok, Son of Stone (DTV) - Hellboy Animated (2 films) - Plague Dogs - Starchaser - The Legend of Orin Just to name a few!
