KALPITIYA, SRI LANKA: This is the most famous kitesurfing spot in Sri Lanka and it's often hailed as the future of Sri Lanka tourism. Kalpitiya is around 3.5 hours north of Negombo and so I made my way here en route to Jaffna to break up the journey and of course, discover a new place in Sri Lanka that I haven't visited before. I found a calm and quiet spot rarely ventured by foreign tourists in Sri Lanka, but despite the typical kind and warm welcome by the locals, it was a place not yet ready to consider itself a soon to be capital of tourism in this island blessed with so many incredible and diverse locations.
This video was filmed several weeks after the last one in Ella - since then me and Xiomara travelled along the south coast to Tangalle, Hiriketiya, Mirissa, Unawatuna, Galle, Hikkaduwa and Bentota however, we as Xiomara was going to fly back to Spain for the Summer, we decided to enjoy that time for ourselves and not film. For the next videos now, it's just me and you as we continue the roadtrip and tour the northern parts of Sri Lanka, starting here in Kalpitiya.
