I love Forza to death, but even I can admit there is literally no reason other than marketing that Forza’s sign language interpreter (who is actually useless considering the game has subtitles) should’ve won over Vale, a game literally built from the ground up for blind people. It’s crazy how Vale was the only one on the list who didn’t just add a crappy feature and instead based a whole game around the premise and they still didn’t even win.

To be fair, sign language options makes it easier to understand words being said because it’s way easier to use peripherals for ASL then to read subtitles, especially while driving

ok but can we just focus on the whole "sign language interpreter" concept and talk about how fucking pointless that is? you would have to focus most (if not all) of your attention on the sign language interpreter instead of the gameplay in order to know whats being said. this is especially going to be difficult in dialogue heavy action scenes. theres most likely going to be BIG time delay as well for translating the dialogue into sign language, which would be kinda disorienting when the characters in a cutscene stop talking but the interpreter is still translating. not to mention the massive amount of money theyre going to have to pay the interpreter(s) for signing ALL of the dialogue, and lets not even touch on the international releases that would require an entire redub of the ASL in the countries own sign language. meanwhile with captions, they can be read at a glance, removing any distractions or delay with dialogue, and are inexpensive to make and translate. i know the company is trying to be inclusive, but this is like installing a wheelchair ramp thats too steep to use; it seems inclusive, but was very poorly thought out and ultimately ends up not helping anyone... and then you realize they probably did it just to avoid complaints.
