RazoRock: Game Changer .68P - Viking's Blade Cayenne Hot - PAA Future Fiction
I'm using the Game Changer again, in a BBS shave, following on from last week's review video. I wondered what the Game Changer would be like as a daily shaver and put it to the test while, at the same time, investigated slightly different directions in my shave routine. It continues to excel and, while your milage may vary, it suits me down to the ground.
The shaving soap, this week is Future Fiction from PAA (Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements); it is their CK6 soap base packed with exotic butters and it really is a superlative quality shaving soap. The lather is thick and very creamy with a good amount of slickness. I've not tried many PAA soaps but, the ones I have tried, have been really excellent.

It was good to see you so happy with your shave. The .68 seems to have helped you figure out a few things. That's one measure of a razor's excellence.

It really has Warren, it has been a lovely razor to borrow. It really went well on the 106 handle; I find the lighter weight suited me more. It looked better with the black handle 🙂 I hope your enjoying your day. Cheers.

Hi Mark- Great shave and razor/soap review; thank you! The Razo Rock .68 seemed to be doing a great job; the PAA soap, as well. A late viewing on part this week, but I hope you enjoy your Sunday and all the best for the week ahead, my friend! Take good care, as always!

Hi. Thank you for dropping by. They were both very nice indeed and I did like the PAA soap, it was very creamy and felt luxurious. I hope you've had a good weekend, buddy. I have taking it easy and have just pre-purchased the new Gillette from Amazon. I'm not sure about it to be honest, but we'll see what's it's like when it gets here. Take care and enjoy your week ahead. Best regards Mike 👍

Praise indeed for PAA, they really are Innovators in the world of wet shaving. With a heavy production line of items on offer. Not seen that type of blade before either.

They do have an incredible amount of products for sale at PAA. I was browsing through the website, the other day, window shopping. I think they must work very hard to bring all those products to market. I was watching something with Doug, where he said that he worked very hard, at his own cost, to bring the DOC to market, styling it on the old Kirby razor and then the Chinese jumped in a copied it and now outsell him. That situation must stifle any creative future ventures.

Yeah, you really cut loose on that third pass, but it seems to have been to your advantage. And a welcome reminder about finding the shave that works for you. Comfort should be paramount, I think. Another good one, Mark--thanks buddy!

I did cut loose - I like that phrase, it very descriptive. I cut loose today, with a different razor; my neck is painful! That'll teach me 🙂 I feel a phrase from Forest Gump may be appropriate. I hope your having a nice weekend, mate. You take care. Cheers.

Another interesting statement fm yr kindself, Mark. Its true, during cartridge times also myself shaved fm up to down. Neither across nor against the growth... The result was as it was, not too great, but anyhow btr than battery. I nvr used cartridge across, or against growth, so nvr experienced the result. With safety razors we learned 3 passes, consequently btr results, Maybe cartridges cud hv given us btr results with 3 passes than DE's? You enjoy yr weekend, I imagine sitting warm inside with a nice cup of tea, a rum maybe, looking outside, the cool winds hurling. All the best, Mark. Roger n out fm the lion city.

Oh yes, I'm definitely in the warmth, drinking coffee at the moment. Winter is coming, it's dark by 7o' clock. Horrible! I have just pre-ordered the new Gillette, with a EJ style head. It'll be interesting. There's a big fuss about it online, lots of comments are quite negative. Nice lather for that soap. I just had my first shave with the Game Changer. 84. Great smoothness and efficiency. I think also having a. 68 plate would complement it nicely, as I can do the first pass with the. 84, and followup and finish with a. 68 plate.

Way to go Spence. Everyone seems to really like the .84 GC. It sounds like you had a great shave. I wonder if any will come up for sale second hand. It seems unlikely as it's so popular. Enjoy your weekend. Cheers.

Nice shave, Mark. Guess I'm gonna have to bump up my .68 GC in my rotation now. Up next in my rotation is a Gillette 1941 Ranger Tech. I've had it for awhile but never used it. Today I cleaned, polished and sanitized it ready for tomorrow. Have a great and safe weekend.
@FriendshipShaving
@FriendshipShaving 4 года назад
You've got a 1941 Ranger Tech - Claude, your killing me! 😃 How fantastic. I do love the old Gillette razors. Have you seen the new Gillette razor? Not the vintage New, but the brand new Gillette - supposedly.
@TheCrash212
@TheCrash212 4 года назад
@@FriendshipShaving Sorry, please don't let me kill you, LOL. I also have a 1946 Ranger Tech, it works okay but needs re-plating. Yes, I saw the sneak preview that Ken Surfs did. I pre-ordered one from Amazon. Hope I don't get ripped off on it. Question for you: I recently bought a cased Gillette Single Ring with blade banks. The description simply said "Gillette Single Ring" I actually only bought it for the case and blade banks. Looking at it, it looks like a 102A with the thicker cap and plate but there is no serial #. Are you aware of such a thing? It's in great shape. I paid very little for it.. Have a great and safe weekend, My Friend.
@FriendshipShaving
@FriendshipShaving 4 года назад
I believe it is likely to be a 102a in an incorrect case because their is no serial number. I haven't seen a 102a in the type of case your describing. You've checked Mr. Razor's website, I assume.
@TheCrash212
@TheCrash212 4 года назад
@@FriendshipShaving It was advertised as a "mismatched" set. I wanted it for the case which has the snap tab intact. So, in addition to a case, I got a 102A in decent shape. It shaves very nicely too!! I'd tell you what razor is up next in my rotation, but I don't want to "kill" you, LOL. Did you order the new release Gillette razor? Have a safe and great week, My friend.
@FriendshipShaving
@FriendshipShaving 4 года назад
Claude, don't tell me. I'm only just hanging on here 😅 Yes, I have ordered the new Gillette razor, it seems to be really dividing opinion, at the moment. I have an old single ring set and the case does need some repair. I bought one originally with the tab intact and the second time I unclipped it, the whole thing fell off. I think the leather was rotten and dried out.

The against - the - grain thing is interesting. I use my DE89 for the first two with-the - grain passes. Then I use my WS Classic (plastic) for the final against - the - grain pass and, being ultra mild, that seems to work well. 👍😊
@FriendshipShaving
@FriendshipShaving 4 года назад
Now, that is strange, had you asked me I would've said that the WS Classic was more aggressive than the DE89; that is my first impression not based on any facts at all. Have you tried it the other way around? 🤔 It seems you have a great combination there. Enjoy your weekend.

@davidanderson3425
@davidanderson3425 4 года назад
I am puzzled by your blade being semi aggressive. Firstly because I thought aggression was a characteristic of the razor itself and how the blade is positioned. So, what makes a blade semi-aggressive? Presumably the level of sharpness? I suppose we will also have to accept that blades can be semi mild as well. You may ask why am I puzzled. Well, if you have a semi aggressive blade do you dare put it in an aggressive razor? Or, for the sake of balance would a milder razor be the right choice? The other talking point on your video was the whole question of shaving against the grain. Apart from this video, I've noticed you rarely cut yourself. The secret seems to be to avoid going against the growth. This could well be where I've been going wrong, yet I cannot stop myself from doing three passes in three different directions. Somehow it doesn't feel as if I've finished if I skip the pass against the growth. Anyway, interesting video Mark. Enjoy the new week ahead.
@FriendshipShaving
@FriendshipShaving 4 года назад
Good day, David. I thought it was a very strange way to describe a razor blade and it felt like any other razor blade; I think the claim that it is semi aggressive makes no sense, at all. I suppose it may be referring to it's sharpness - but if they called it semi sharp no-one would buy them! I've found that with most razors, shaving against the grain is just damned uncomfortable. The base of my neck; either side of my mouth and on my top lip, where the skin is softer and more loose, is where I tend to bleed. Shaving ATG on my top lip feels as if the hairs are being torn out. It is to be avoided 😐 I always get a good shave and sometimes get BBS without really trying so I'm happy with that. It's taken me a while to catch up, this week. I'm sorry about that. I your week is going well. Take care.
