15 years ago this is what I imagined I was on while ripping up the road on my 954Fireblade! I've got to be completely honest about my bike because it taught me so much about riding because it was just a really good confidence inspiring built bike that made you respect it without snatching your soul! Thanks for sharing bro because it brought back a bunch of great memories!👍👍👍👌

Proud owner of #1151 here, bought it back 2015 with about 4000 miles on it, found a NOS GP7 exhaust in Florida back in 2022 (flew down during Covid to get it!). Also managed to get a complete set of the mechanics tools and even got the plaque. I cant image ever selling it, its one of the crowns of my little collection but if I do, I will definately have AMS in DFW or Iconic do the pre-sale inspection

should of looked for the ridgey didge 4 pipe system it was raced with. Gp07 was a 800 screener flat crank v4, its pity they did make the real deal exhaust

These bikes were insane when they came out. I don’t think Ducati thought they would sell as many as they did. Great video too Abhi very cool to hear insight from back when they were new.

Now if only there is a way to swap a V4R engine into this bike! This bike is only about 170 hp

The best bike I ever owned, but my biggest mistake was selling it. By far the best feeling when riding was second to none and a very special bike..

My dad had one of these when it came out. I could hear he coming back home from miles away. It failed every single track day noise limit test in the UK 😂

It really is a beautiful bike, and it truly looks like Casey’s bike.. The fact that Ducati built this bike for the road should always be celebrated. An expensive bike, a very collectible bike, and a bike I would very much like in my collection..but then who wouldn’t 😄

The desmo RR will always be a majestic GP replica. This has Casey Stoney's signature and back when bikes where bikes, not the F1 aero look.

I would often plan my cycling routes past the Arlen Ness dealership in Dublin CA along a popular commuter path. They had (have?) one in the window, which had clearly seen some track hours. Stunning machine. Saw another one up close at laguna seca WSBK.

Very special bikes, in 2015 I found #0687 in my local Ducati dealership and as soon as it was fired-up I decided to but it - what a superbike - I only managed to ride it a couple of dozen times, I had other bikes as well, but it certainly left you with the feeling of not being good enough to ride it to full potential, no rider aids here, just rider skill

Abhi, I’m fan of iconic, love what you guys do. As an Italian from Bologna, please allow me to share that Marchesini is pronounced mark-a-see-nee. Not like the month of March. Ok keep up the great work with all the amazing bikes. Saluto!

I remember my neighbor got the first D16RR in the Philippines it was chassis #702(you can find videos of it here YT) it's always a treat when he does a cold start at 4 in the morning i could hear that loud beast for far away. He did raced it in our local SBK series and I think he won a race or two in it. It was really sad when he had to sell it.

Is it possible to do a side by side comparison of the stock race and the GP exhaust?
@IconicMotorbikes
@IconicMotorbikes 7 месяцев назад
This is a great question and definitely something we will keep in mind. At the moment we only have Desmosedicis with the GP7 exhaust but I'll figure out what I can do. I think in 2-3 weeks we'll have one with a GP7 exhaust and one with a race exhaust that we can compare, but I doubt we'll find one with a stock exhaust any time soon, most people swapped those out for the race exhausts pretty quickly!

That is not carbon rotors, it's CMC from BrakeTech.......HUGE difference. Carbon needs heat to work, BrakeTech ceramics work in the wet allways.

Amazing bike - but I'm pretty sure that most were about 150bhp in reality, which at the rear wheel, is perfect for the road 😎

Not to be a total pedant, but I wonder if something like the NSR250SP might be the closest to a GP bike for the road. The 80s 500s are probably too far removed from the actual GP bikes.
@sburns2421
@sburns2421 7 месяцев назад
The D16RR really was the 2006 Desmo GP bike made livable on the street with things like a starter, ability to idle without overheating, and have a warranty. Bore/stroke, valve size, and frame geometry was the same as the race bike IIRC. The spec of the suspension and forged and machined magnesium wheels were insane. A pair of forks or even OE wheels cost more than an entire NSR250SP. They were exactly the same as GP teams could buy a couple of years earlier.

Ducati's GP bike for the road,insane What's even more mindboggling is the $230k price tag🙈
@IconicMotorbikes
@IconicMotorbikes 7 месяцев назад
Sorry, where did you get that price from? The Desmosedici had a MSRP of $72,500 in the US. $230k is roughly (but a little low) the current price of Honda's version of a "MotoGP bike for the street", the RC213V-S.

A teal GP replica! Even way low on HP is looks the same as the racebike unlike these current replicas bikes Ducati keeps putting out now using a V4 superbike. Basically a cash grab
@IconicMotorbikes
@IconicMotorbikes 7 месяцев назад
So glad you mentioned that. I'm getting a little frustrated with how Italian companies (specifically Ducati and MV Agusta) are handling "Special Edition" bikes right now. They just slap a bunch of cosmetic nonsense on a bike, limit production to fake a sense of exclusivity, and then jack the price up. With that said, it's not all bad news. Ducati does still make some proper stuff that justifies insane pricing - specifically the V4 Superleggera.

GAME CHANGING POS... that 'mechanical noise' you hear is the engine on it's way to grenading.. . the Desmosedici 16RR was supposed to be a limited edition.. then Ducati in their abject GREED decided to build 100s more .. I don't know an owner who hasn't experinced the engine either on it's way to or grenading, magnesium cases weeping oil, bad fork seals.. and a myriad of other expensive maladies..bad mismatching carbon, cracking clear coat .. EVERY dealer rep was told by Ducati, Italy to tell the owners of these bikes in their region to get the engine blue printed and balance .. that's how poorly these V4 were put together.. Ducati took whatever internal parts they could get their hands on to build these motors . INSTEAD of the SOP of matching balancing internal parts in essence blue print & balance.. . The earliest owner on our Ducati.MS portal was from Lyon, France . his Desmo grenanded with 9K it took a year to get replacement parts.. I was very close w/ BCM Ducati way back then..Americas premier flagship Ducati dealer...now out of biz purely do to the owner Leslie Grossman, being fed up w/ dealing w/ Ducati warranty claims. Leslie owned one of these, it was such a problematic POS he sold it to somebody in Japan.. Leslie owns a load of Ducati superbikes w/ no miles or less than 10 ..999R, 999S PU, on and 888s. So to sell the RR16 was a shocker. Ducati hastily threw these V4s together and were JUNK .. for $90,000 unadulterated junk.. it doesn't matter how well it performed ... then...I wasn't impressed...after 7-9K miles the engine was trash .. your magnesium cases weeped oil . same as they did on that era's nuvo Panigale big bore twin.. Ducati upped the game w/ the V4R .nothing like losing $50,000 value on a $90K motorcycle..
