For the record i know this game was not the actual game he got the nickname from. In my opinion this was the game where he earned it as a Falcon. Yes, it's also a toss up between this game and the 2008 Bears game.
Matt Ryan has been called Matty Ice since high school. And he earned that name many times in high school and at Boston College where he took an average team and had them ranked in the top 3 in all of college football.

Ryan Clark I’m going off of Pro Football Reference’s 4th quarter comeback wins. He’s listed 12/tied for 11th. When all is said and done he’ll easily be in the top 5 all time for comebacks.
This game epitomizes a Matt Ryan Falcons team: O Line gives up a fuck load of sacks, defense can't tackle, and needing to score 30+ to have a shot at winning. Only thing that would've sold it even more was if there was no rushing game
Yeah, his Defensive play was horrible in the SB... and that 2nd half play-calling was awful... and let's not get on that block he missed that gave up the strip sack (sheesh)

@Cisco SVP They actually just change the helmet stickers/ ram horns insignia when they’re wearing their regular unis (white horns) and when they’re wearing their throwbacks (gold horns). The actual helmet is still required to stay the same throughout the course of the entire season. Dumb rule - one that I don’t really think helps decrease head injuries as it’s intended to do - but one that doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere.
I remember being at this game, I was only 13 or so at the time. I remember going to school the next day and everyone showed out in Falcons gear. These were fun times man.
@@hbrandonlrodriguez4774 I should rephrase: he's not good at throwing in the cold. He's one of the outliers in football where you can be great in any situation, except for cold because of how different it is when throwing the ball. And all you have to do is watch some of those games in order to see his accuracy drop significantly.

@@ibraheemrao8434 the Falcons didn't run an audible style offense that year. Shannahan called the plays, and that's what they ran. That game is on the coaches and Freeman missing a key block. The guy with the highest QBR ever for a SB losing team is way down the list of people I'd blame for that game.
@@aaronmccall3849 but on the block the freeman missed with 8.30 left in regulation it was a 3 and 1 on somewhere between their own 30-40 yard line they should ran the ball in that situation to pickup that yards because the pats were getting gashed on the ground all game somewhere between 4-5 yards a carry. I mean there wasn't one running play in their playbook to get that yard like a sneak,full back dive, or off tackle eother way b.c had they ran it and converted then they would have put bill in a tough situation. plus ryan has to be responsible for this letdown b.c I know its the pats with greates qb/hc combo but that's no excuse to blow a lead of this magnitude.

@@boxing1sport820 He made throws to wide open guys while foles had to throw in tight windows. Oh and Brady had two opportunities to win in the end and he couldn't do it. Wentz is definetly better than foles when healthy. The stats back that up. Enjoy your superbowl win, we got ours last year.

It's also easier to play good when everyone is expecting you to lose. All the pressure going into the game was on tom Brady and not nick foles. Brady had an opportunity to tie it the second time not win it. Stats sometimes doesn't tell the true story look at Kirk cousins he has great stats but he's really not a great quarterback just like Carson Wentz.

I have supported this team since the 80s , this team has done nothing but Embarrass the city of Atlanta over and over again. Who would want to play for this franchise??? Ryan set NFL records here and gave the franchise there first back to back winning seasons , took us to playoffs 6 times in 10 years. How many playoff appearances did we have before him??? Now look at the shit show the Falcons are putting on. The only good decision ive seen them make is Pitts but even then they could have drafted for defense. Earned it in college against Virginia Tech. It was the most miserable weather to play a game in. I mean my puddles had puddles kinda rain. Virginia Tech had shut down Ryan all day it looked certain they would up set Virginia Tech then suddenly in last few minutes of th 4th he pulls miracle throw after miracle throw off giving Boston college the win
