It was round eight of the 1st Maharashtra International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament 2022 and IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh (2443) took on WGM Divya Deshmukh (2317). It was nothing less than a thriller and an entire crowd gathered around the board to watch the game.
Nubairshah Shaikh opened the game with 1.Nf3 and Divya replied with d5. The game got interesting as it progressed and it is indeed a thriller to watch. Catch the final moments of the game

For those wondering, Nubairshah's final chance at drawing the game was at 2:00 where instead of Rxb2 he had to play Rc8+ . After Kh7 e5+ and exchange of queens. The crucial difference here being that white gets to have connected passed pawns on the 5th while both queens are off the board. They can be easily defended by the bishop and the rook and black has little play while they are still in the game.

Doesn't white win in this line? I calculated Rc8+, Kh7, e5+, Qf5, Qxf5+, Rxf5, Bd3, Rb1+, Kh2, Rb2+, Rc2, Rxc2, Bxc2, Kg6, d6 and I think black loses... I might be wrong with Rb1+ prob but can't say...

I will never understand why players have to write down the records by themselves, even if there is someone recording the same for them. It must have been a way of proof for them in early days but now a day, every game is recored live.

@@JimmyBoosterCrate she's 2440 at 18, go and fact check ding liren(the current WC) also gained his required rating and norm for gm at 17yrs of age yes being gm young does good give one an advantage but nobody knows whose luck might flip when, as long as you're doing good there's always a chance for you to go and do great
